I am so psyched! The game has finally been announced, with a release date of 11/11/11! Check out the trailer:

Oblivion was my second PS3 game, and I still play it to this day. In fact, my game save is close to 300 hours of game play and I haven't even finished it yet! I honestly can't wait for this game.

2/24/11 New trailer with gameplay and scenery!

June/11 E3 Gameplay video.

E3 gameplay narrated by Bethesda's Tom Howard.

I've been looking around the web for new Skyrim stuff but unfortunately we didn't get a lof of information, just the video. The video does show that Tom prides himself about, the game letting you play in whatever style you see fit. Stealthy rogue, heavy armor warrior, or full on battle mage.

Oblivion was the most engrossing game I played prior to GT5. Its going to be a long wait!

I've heard rumors that this is going to be an MMO. Please say it ain't so. I love RPGs, but not when they go online and I have to compete against a bunch of nerds who play the game a lot more than me.

Oblivion is my favorite game of this gaming generation, bar none, please don't turn it into an MMO and **** it up.

Don't worry, It's not going to be an MMO. That's an old rumor that has been making the rounds for a long time.

I recently started playing Oblivion after I got tired of the Fallout series. I can see why it has such a big following. It's so much fun.

I agree, I would definitely hate it if they made it an MMORPG however I would love it to have online similar to the Diablo series, the online isn't required at all to complete the game and if you jump into an online game your single player world and progress is not changed at all. I seriously can't wait for this game... :scared:

A new trailer including game play, monsters and the beautiful Skyrim scenery has been released! Check the OP. :)

Bow and arrow? Check.

First day purchase? Check, and double check.

Looking forward to it.

First Elder Scrolls I played was Morrowind and I thought it was ok but I wasn't that into it. After hearing everyone rave on about Oblivion I folded and bought, I am sure glad I did as I really enjoyed it. Because of Oblivion I got Fallout 3 then New Vegas and although I liked them, it was never the same as Oblivion, Skyrim looks good.

All strange for me considering I don't usually like fictional games like these.

I wonder if they will have something similar, to the dark brotherhood. Those quest were always fun.

Oh, that was the best quest line ever. I remember when I first discovered the entrance to their underground lair... the distant drum beating, and the whispering door demanding the password. What an awesome game Oblivion is, I really hope TEV is only better. It has a really tough precursor to top.

Started to play Oblivion again this weekend after reading some articles about the upcoming Skyrim. I stopped playing somewhere during 2009 to get my hands on GT5 Prologue and then never came back to it. Now with Skyrim coming I couldn't resist to pop this one in my PS3 again. I was totally off with the controls (and the story) so I just started all over again :) .
Even though this is a 2006 game this still counts as a benchmark for open world RPG. The graphics could use some refurbishing though (close-by graphics are nothing to complain about by the way, but the drawing distance could certainly use an upgrade) and looking at the developers comments that's exactly one of the points they're working on. Combined with all the other stuff they're enhancing like better controls, new AI,... this will be a killer game.
I'm curious however how the PC and Console versions will compare in the graphics department. The trailers are very impressive, but I suppose that only the PC version will look that crisp... Maybe more clarity on tht during E3? Let's hope...
In the meanwhile I'm happy playing through Oblivion again :)

My problem with Bethesda's games is that no matter how much I want them, I'll probably not buy them because I know I'll never complete them.

I played Morrowind but quickly got bored because the skilling up was so damn slow. I kind of regret I never got Oblivion because it looked fantastic. I absolutely loved Fallout 3 and got the GOTY edition, but found myself in a game too big for me as I never got passed level 7 and never even explored the tiniest bit of expansion.

I am intrigued with this one, but I definately won't be getting it on release. Bethesda Game Studios are known to make great games, but they are some of, if not the most glitchfest filled games known to man.

Glitches are to be expected in games of Elderscrolls magnitude, but hopefully Bethesda won't get a free pass this time around.

Regardless, Skyrim looks fantastic. 👍

So excited for this game, I'll be picking it up on release date, bugs and all.

Honestly for all the complaining about bugs in the console versions of FO3 and New Vegas, I never had any problems beyond a few graphical glitches, which dont' bother me in the slightest, so I'm not too concerned about bugs.

I started playing Oblivion again in anticipation, might go way back and play Morrowind again once I beat Oblivion. I'm sooooo excited for this game.

You mean the main storyline for Oblivion, right? I've never heard of someone beating ESIV before. :p

Ditto.

Hitman, BF3 and this are what I will be playing this fall. 👍

Hitman, F12011 and this for me. ;)

One thing that worries me though...

Spoiler alert

In fallout 3 and new vegas, there were the radscorpions and the Giant radscorpion. When I first came across the giant radscorpion, I was weak, had very few weapons and was frankly taken by surprise. By the time I'd seen it, it was feet away from me. Got a hell of a fright.

My concern is that es:v has spiders. I'm arachnophobic. I dread the inevitable "Hmm... What's that noiseHOLY 🤬."

That means graphics will be nerfed like hell.
They can say what they want, that it won´t affect anything but it will.
Crysis 2, BC2 and compared to BF3. There´s a big difference.
I also think COD Black Ops was a ported game and that looks like **** to be honest.

Have you seen how bad Fallout 3 and new vegas looked on ps3? Or half life 2 for that matter? Still games definitely worth playing. Look beyond the graphics and you will get a rewarding game. I only played final fantasy 7 for the first time two years ago. The graphics are terrible by today's standards but the game is now my favourite.

half life 2 i've played on PC.
i think that graphics is very important nowadays rather then the developers should make as much cash as they can because it's less work to release the same game on all consoles and PC.
i enjoyed oblivion but i'll pass on this if they haven't done a miracle here.

Perhaps developing for a console was the only way to get it running on consoles and pc?

As for me, I had a pc round about the time Half Life 2 was released. But a virus just destroyed it, so I couldn't play Half Life 2 on the PC. I had to wait until the release of the orange box on ps3. My point is, if you're going to miss a game like skyrim, just because the graphics might not quite be at the ultra high level you want, then it's your loss. The game still looks good (visually) and I won't be missing it. It's going to be epic.

EDIT:

I'm pretty sure F12010 was developed with a console as a lead platform, but if you have a good enough pc, it apparently looks much better. I've even heard of one pc user running at 70+fps. Are you really going to miss this game because of the reason you stated?
