[Sorry if this has been posted before]
Okay, now we have an official car and track list, I thought perhaps we could start planning a few competitions or challenges.
My idea is to use one of the 11 electric/hybrid cars (that I have counted, if you could find anymore, that would be great) in the game and try to last the longest amount of time without running out of fuel. This could work in many ways, but I'm just suggesting what I think would be the best way to make it as fun and/or realistic as possible.
The cars available to use would be:
Toyota PRIUS '09
Toyota PRIUS G '02
Toyota PRIUS G '03
Honda CR-Z a '10
Honda INSIGHT '99
Honda INSIGHT LS '09
Honda DUALNOTE Concept ‘01 (thanks BreakZero)
Spoon CR-Z (thanks again)
Acura DN-X Concept ‘02 (and again)
Mitsubishi i-MiEV '09
Tesla Motors Tesla Roadster '08
Now, the first six cars are hybrids, while the Tesla and the i-MiEV are all-electric cars, which could make things different. Also, the Tesla is considerably more powerful than any of the hybrids, which could make it unfair. You could do two seperate races; 6 people on a track is good (hybrids), meanwhile 2 (electric) is not so. However, I'll leave that open to your discussion.
Anywho, the plan would be to have one person driving each car around a track to see who can last the longest fuelwise. This would make a change from all the pedal-thrashing, hard-knuckle racing that would usually occur.
Once members of the GTPlanet community would drive one of the said cars, perhaps decided by a hat draw of a random lotto kind of thing, not sure yet (ideas would be welcome). This race could/would teach people (crashers in particular) how to behave and drive properly, and not overdo things like acceleration, braking and handbraking.
The track the race on could be different in each contest to give it some variety, or be the same to keep things fair (it would allow for leaderboards and/or bragging rights
). If the track would be kept the same, it would be logical to have a realistic track, something like SSR7 (a motorway/highway is a good setting) or SSR5; however, it would have to be quite short (each lap) in order to keep the race from being boring, but SSR7 is currently the most realistic option in my opinion (Course Maker aside). It could, however, take place in a City circuit to show the effects of City-wise driving or something.
In order to keep the race fair, there would have to be a few rules set in place.
Some rules which could be enforced:
No slipstreaming (this could be fair or unfair, please comment on what you think. It could also be hard to spot, but if there's a spectator mode this could be possible to watch out for.)
No crashing/bashing into other people
No shortcuts (not easy to take shortcuts on city tracks like the SSRs and Madrid/Rome)
No pit stops (if available)
So, what do you think? Please vote on the poll and/or leave your ideas below.
I think that the idea should be split into two: one for the fastest/longest enduring car and all one make race eg all Prius. I think that the fact you have to consider fuelling along with speed would make for an interesting race if everyone had the same car.
Like this idea, especially all make race; so far we haven't seen one make races..
blasos:
An Eco Challenge would be good:
Starting with 6 litres of fuel:
1 - See who can go the furthest distance with an hour time limit
2 - See who can who has the most fuel remaining after driving 'X' number of laps
This could work out as well. I like number 1 the most, although maybe an hour would be a bit boring.
Fryto:
To make it less boring and get more cars on track, you could make teams of two cars; which gets already 12 cars on track. Should be good fun in a 32 people lobby with the others commenting.
This would be funny.
. I think one make races would be more fair in this situation though.
