If they wanted Metal Fins, why the hell did they pick Lordi? Lordi is just stupid.

They should've went with children of bodom. ;)

It's not that easy, over here the authorities don't just pick the band (or singer) to perform in the contest. We have a competition of voluntary artists, of which the best is chosen by a voting. This year the best song won, no doubt.

And the Eurovision is not about music anymore, it's about half-naked women (or so it seemed last night) and show. Lordi really has show, and to be honest the song isn't half bad when compared to the other countries either. ;)

Apparently theres a hard rock band around. Anyone know what country??
If you mean the guys in their monster masks, then... Finland. Hard Rock Hallelujah!

Anyone who doesn't vote for Finland this year is gay. No ifs or buts. Vote for Finland or you are gay.

Our entry is dismal as usual, but we cannot be relegated and simply don't want to host it ever again.

👍 well done Famine, another one who liked Lordi's song.

I was waiting for Finland's entry, while many songs featured very good looking babes, Lordi's song was the only song I wanted to hear, best performance in terms of show and close to, if not the best song so far.

Finland's entry was excellent! As for ours, it was ok. I mea, at least it was something different rather than the boring crap we've had for the past few years.

Finland Won!!!! Lordi pulled through! w00t !

their costumes are good and its nice to see some real music there, but their song is rubbish, even a metaller will admit that. ;)

i hoped for texas lightning to score better...their song had something and it was proper music, but as usual the top ten songs were all of the kind that you can't even distinguish from each other or from some balkan country that was split 4 times and now supports each other. lordi however did manage to mobilize the metal world despite their rubbish song and they had a good show...

oh man, i need to find a downloadable version of the eurovision video cause I wanna keep that performance by Lordi.

Finland are gonna be hard pressed to top that next year.

I personally quite like the song that they used.

Great stuff Finland! Thank the Lordi! Hard Rock won! Hallelu... oh forget it. No matter how hard I try I can't enjoy Eurovision. I just get all cynical. Did we get any points?

Wow. Europe must have some god-awful bands for this crap to win. They SUCK.

But, it's still funny.

To think that some stupid belgian politian used € 60 000 of government money to promote our entry and it didn't even get into the finals

And i think it's great the fins have won. very original

It's not a metal contest, it's the Eurovision, the annual gathering of crap music from across Europe. I'm really happy that the first metal band to be selected there in years just won the public vote.
I'd have prefered a good old 'Deathwish' or 'Slayer' for instance, but Lordi is OK enough.

The Lithuainian entry was awesomely bad. I never laughed so much when what seemed like a bank manager danced like a headless chicken trying to beat up a ferret.

Good to see someone who actually made the music win..

Flat-out

I doubt a band like Slayer would win, because they don't put on as much theatrics as Lordi did, many of the cheers were for the pyrotechnics, and the costume captured the imagination of the viewers.

Stupid Female Presenter
"Each song brings out the best qualities of each and every country"

Yep Europe, we have lovely schoolgirls hanging out with a 30+ year old white 'rapper'. Come visit us one day!!!

The "schoolgirls" (25 year old women) were the only part of our entry that were worth the licence fee. Ignoring the fact that they were singing in Mockney, they were a billion times better than Daz "Will Smith" Whateverhisnamewas.

It's worth noting that Daz "Will Smith" Whateverhisnamewas said, before Eurovision:

"So-called political voting does go on but nowhere near as much as people in the UK say. I think we hide behind that a bit. The fact is, for the past 10 years or so we haven't sent anything good."

I wonder what reason he'll come up with for his magnificent 19th place 25 point haul, behind an Irish man whining "Every song is a cry for love" (which made me want to slit my wrists), some Lithuanians shouting "We are the winners of Eurovision" to a football chant - a very subtle entry - and a black Danish breakdancer...

25 points, that's pretty terrible. I knew we should have let Jordan have a second chance, Finland won with a bunch of make up ridden, middle age fanatics. Jordan is a make up ridden and is married to a middle aged tit.

We would have killed them all..

If you find one, please tell me too!

The "sweet gorgeous creature" man with his hat of four winds showed the pop girls who's the boss. I'm not quite a hard rock fan myself but this song just blew the others sky high! 👍

Thanks for everyone who voted for Lordi, you helped to turn a new page of Eurovision history!

The whole show was 'amazing' (although mostly for the wrong reasons), yet it provided me with an almost constant laugh for a whole three hours - I don't know when that happened last!! I actually voted for Finland, so for once I truly believe the best song won... although the article in post #1 predicts that Bosnia-Herzegovina were going to win simply by collusive voting - he wasn't far off, despite the fact that the Bosnian song did that virtually impossible feat of both sucking and blowing at the same time... Lithuania were great, but the notable entries for me were Spain ('A Bloody Mary, por favor') who were unbelievably bad (worse even than us!), and of course the French entry, which was so bad, France should be kicked out with no chance of parole. The act themselves were atleast trying, but they went for the 'sophisticated, serious song'-approach that clearly was going against the grain just a smudge... also, they were not helped by the fact that their quite attractive, sophisticated lady singer unfortunately had a voice like a goose farting in the fog...

Still, atleast there were some good bits, especially the Lordi lyrics:- "It's the arockalypse!" and "On the day of Rockoning, it's who dares wins" Also, the Latvian 'Bobby McFerrin' Appreciation Society and their ludicrious little robot, the Russians with their 'Woman in the piano' trick , and the Romanian entry who, inexplicably, was actually singing in Italian :odd: Also, the Turkish entry (2nd from last) wins the prize for having the most camp male dancers, a dreadful irony given that the female singer looked like a bloke and was easily the most masculine person on the stage at the time... Also, I forget which country it was, but I loved the bit when some bloke burst out to do his guitar solo and someone took his guitar away from him before it was finished!

Apart from all that, it was really boring :p

Carola sucks. She is a nice MILF but...her song sucks. Eurovision song contest is gay anyway.

Hahahaha!

Her MILFness is overshadowed by her extreme creepyness though.

I kept wishing her voice would break and that she wouldn't get any votes at all.

Hard Rock Hallelujah!!! Hahahahaha!

Lordi deserved to win, they did a great show and got double votes from me in both the semi and the final. They went beyond my expectations.

One of the notable highlights throughout the entire ESC06, was the dutch, narcistic presenter. I couldn't stop laughing at him and his stupid comments. Yet, he ruined the pace at which the show was progressing, so I'm just gonna quote Wogan: "Idiot".

Touring Mars; That would be Denmark, with the guitar solo.

Oh god, the UK were awful, what the hell was that Daz Sampson guy doing in the yellow lycra jacket? The girls sounded like they came from Essex in 1924, we've taken a negative stereotype and built an image around it!

Oh and, for once, the best band won. BRING ON THE AROCKOLYPSE!!!
