I've only just got into drifiting on the game and that is down to this forum. My first experiments were with a Camaro and I bravely turned off the aids and had a go. Well what a piece of rubbish that car is. Throttle control seems to produce no results whatsoever and it just spins out. Granted I had it fully maxed with engine mods but still....My next experiment was an M3 with just an exhaust upgrade and a rear spoiler. Now this is more like it. It doesn't spin at the drop of a hat, but you can coax it into some lovely drifts. So now I'm going onto my next car and I'm going to do it upper class. I've just bought a Mercedes CL600 and done all the engine mods except for nitro. Now I'm gonna cut my teeth while sat in one of the most comfy leather seats available in the game.

I'll keep you guys updated with my progress.

PS. I see people recommend N2's but I use R3's on all my cars, not sure if they are best for drifting, but I'm not too bothered....... yet

hi i was just wondering do you use the dfp wheel?? you might want to keep your rpm's at a constant rate in your drift to keep a nice and steady drift going, and i might also recommend that you try drifting stock cars like the supra rz stock settings aids off n1 tires, thats the only settings you can apply by the way online:sly: :sly: hope to here more about your progressing as a drifter, keep up the good work:)

Online? We certainly didn't get online in the PAL European version.... No I don't have the DFP, never been a fan of the steering wheels. I'm just basically starting drifting to get some new type of photos to add to my 2000+ collection. I'll probably use the usual suspects soon, just wanted to use a completely outrageous drift car but it doesn't do it too well. Might be my choice of using El Capitan....What would be the best overall drift course?

well my overall top favorite track is trial mountain (with the HKS S15 D1), and i can recommend you to get a dfp wheel, the drifting sensation is great with it:) :) ,and no we didnt get online togheter, because off the pal ntc version conflict, and i hate that:ouch: :ouch: would be great to drift with you guys online:) :) nyway so trial mountain provides with some nice long corners for nice high speed drifts, looks great when youre drifting online with 5 supra rz cars tailling eachother:) :) drift on:tup: 👍

The silvia is pretty good as standard, but i think it can be improved by tweaking some settings - look in the drift settings workshop. Also I wouldn't use racing tyres to drift cos they grip so much, and would snap out if you try and drift.

I find the R3s need some real provocation to drift. You can get a nice slide going, but they do seem to understeer a bit. N2's will be going on now.

Good choice. Generally you can use any 'N' tyre depending on your car's power. I usually use N1s for up to 200-240bhp. Then I'd use N2's for 240-400/450bhp depending on the setup. N3's would suit anything in excess of 500bhp, although this much power isn't really necessary to drift.

now that would really be something to see! anyone got any pics or clips of anything like this?

This is my current old drift nail. I think it is fitting it should have steel wheels. Looks unassuming and fit for its purpose. I'm still stuck to the R3 tyres, I don't want to drift every corner, but I like being able to race properly and then still coax a drift from it, for the cameras!

well, if you do have a drift setup, there is always a draw back on some settings, take for insist. If you take a New or Used Nissan Skyline R34 and put N2 tires, the behavor of the car will change alittle bit, it will understeer more. But if you want to drift with that car, all you have to do is a feint before the corner hits. in other words, the car will change a bit during the process but if you want to race drift, try getting use to the race drifting style. if you don't understand, im sorry...I know its a bit wordy.

Yeah he's right.

Basically, you can have a style but remember that, with that style, there are alot of differences.
Race drifting is completely different from Exhibition drifting. And you can try to race drift with exhibition settings or cars (Like a second hand supra) but the car choice for example for race drifting is different from exhibition.

Choose a style means choosing a direction of settings, cars, and drift initiating and exiting style.

But basically you can forget all of that too if you just wanna drift your way, wich can be called exhibition.:dopey:

Yeah I'm just doing it to add variety, I'm not hard core into it, just like a little play with the rear end and throttle!

The MGF I have is very good at the old drift too...

Some mega smoke from my Supra too...

I do Trial Mountain, and it feels great because the road isnt all grippyish like at Autumn Ring. I love that place, i have a video of me and my 86 in the drifting section. Maybe I should put it on my sig.
