Well, my excitement was short lived...the car drives like, ehrm. a tank

That would most likely be the "tank" concept of the vehicle.

It drives like a tank on rubber wheels because.... well..... it is a tank on rubber wheels.

Actually, I think the wheels are made of steel.
:p

I took mine to the 400m excited myself to get to test it out. After the 400m, I hit exit to go back to my home, than shortly sold it. :yuck:

Thanks for the link Sage. I just went to check my shelf and sure enough I've got it here. I dont remember reading this?

So I'll answer my own questions.

Engine:29.4 liter (29,370cc) (1792ci) SOHC 24 valve V12 (2900rpm redline)
Horse power: 810 @ 2800 rpm
Torque: 1560 lb/ft @ 2400 rpm
Transmission: 6 speed auto
Tires and wheels: off a garbage truck
Top speed: supposedly 140 mph. how does this compare to in game.

and all thats left is can it be tuned?

Have you watched it in a replay? I took it to the Sarthe 2 and it was most impressive watching the suspension in action on all the bumps.

I accidentally sold it and had to buy it back off another save.

^how much is it worth and wy the hell did you sell it?You can only get it once!

what is the point of keeping it in your garage when you could sell it for 200,000+ credits? i think it is a waste of money keeping the Tank Car in your garage at all, you see....you cant race with it in GT mode, but you can in Arcade mode (plus the option of giving it more power in quick-tune) whenever you feel like it - on any track. Any car you own in GT mode, is then unlocked permanently in Arcade Mode. So once you sell cars in GT Mode, you can still drive them in Arcade. the only downside is not being able to take a photo of it from a photo location, but you can still save the replay and take photos then

I guess this car has anything that an American would wish for.... it's HUGE and has a lot of power..... and that's it. :dopey: 👍
Do I see a Bugatti badge on the front, or is that just me? :dopey:

I just use mine to have fun with.

Wait a minute...
Leno - the guy from "the tonight show" builds cars???

Well, he doesnt build them himself, he lets them build...thoughhe apparently is very much involved in the built-up rpcess..

but he is a petrol head, owning a nice car and motorbike collection....he owns about 80 cars and 80 motorbikes...a lot of the unique...among them Stanley Steamers from the early 1900, Lambos, Bugattis, Bentleys, a 427 Cobra, aMcLaren F! Supercar, Deusenbergs,...his first car was a 1934 Ford Pickup...

There is a small article I found about him/his passion1

Enjoy1 👍

I wish the driver was Jay Leno for this car. I guess they probably ran into polygon limitations when they started to model the chin.

Okay granted for a 900 HP vehicle this thing may not be as fast as one who hasn't seen the weight might expect.

However 14.7 in the quarter mile is quite good actually. Any 14 second car on the street will feel pretty fast unless you're used to driving 12 second and below cars.

Don't knock the performance to badly. It will keep up with nearly any stock production vehicle, with the high end cars always being an exception.

In fact considering the weight this thing is down right impressive!

@ initial post: By the way, have you seen the front tires on that thing? I wouldnt expect anything weighing 9000 pounds with tires that skinny on the front, to turn very well. especialy considering those tiers are riding on a torsion bar sprung, solid axle, located by 8 foot long leading-arms.

I am a bit disapointed that, with 900 hp and who knows how much torque, it dosen't accelerate that well, or top out verry high. Where does it redline, how many gears does it have, how much torque does it have, and can it be tuned?

[EDIT]
Does anybody know wether this thing is gas or diesel?
I'd assume IRL this thing would almost certainly be a diesel engine, probably producing massive amounts of torque, but unless its got 18 gears or more its not going to go all that fast. Most tanks, or atleast heavy ones are geared to go about 40mph, even the M1 Abrahms (sp?) with a 1500hp Jet Turbine engine is only good for 40 mph or so max.

Crayola; it's a gas engine. Yes that's a stupid idea for a tank. It's also a 6 speed.
Leno writes a column for Popular Mechanics, you can read the one he wrote about the tank car here.
As it says in the column, Jay didn't build the car, this guy did. So after you check out that page, go read this here and you'll know everything I do (assuming you also read that C&D article that was posted earlier).

badcatnobiscuit
there is no reason to sell the tank car, besides you can win a toyota rsc rally easy in special conditions in MUCH less tim.

umm.......yes, there are very good reasons to sell this tank car;
1) you make an easy 212,000 credits if you do
2) whats the point of keeping it when you cant race with it in GT mode???......
3) ....when after you have sold it you can still drive it whenever you want in Arcade

Why do alot of you seem to think that length = poor handling?
The Maserati MC12 is something silly like 18foot long and is supposed to be awesome to drive...

Sorry guys (and maybe gals?)

I've sorta skimmed through the post but couldnt see anything but how do you win the Tank Car? (excuse my laziness if its been posted already)
