Ebisu will get reconstructed in due time, after everything else that is more important gets sorted out.

The Japanese don't need our sympathy, they need our help.

Sympathy can come after.

Nowhere in the OP is it suggested that there was no tragedy, but it is a perfectly legitimate question.

As are questions (on other boards, and in the news, and in business circles) of the effects this tragedy will have on the Japanese Economy as a whole, Nuclear Power in general, and specifically, Nissan, which has lost a lot of stock to this disaster.

These questions do not mean the tragedy did not happen. They just mean that there are other things that are affected by it.

When would it be the right time to ask them? Next week? Next month? Next year? Ask some Americans, and it is never the right time to talk about replacing the World Trade Center...

Though the world trade center was tragedy, they need to move on and stop harping on it.

Nobody likes a person who keeps playing a violin. What I said is rough and mean, but it is what it is.

I actually wanted to make a thread to discuss the motorsports impact of the Sendai Earthquake (just goes to show you- don't hesitate on whether or not to release a thread on something... just do it before somebody else probably makes a thread YOU want to discuss!). The stories I've read online about Ebisu are much heart-breaking. I hope Ebisu can be restored to its former glory before the quake.

Just to confirm that Ebisu is near Fukushima however since the powerstation is near the coast and Ebisu is near the middle then I guess that it isn't a huuuuge problem.

Yep, Ebisu is in Fukushima Prefecture. The facilities are pretty torn up, I'm not sure if the pavement itself is one one piece. Yes, I'm more worried about the fallout, especially now that the disaster seems to have intensified.

There's good news though. I've heard a substance called zeolite is good for scrubbing radiation from both contaminated humans and contaminated surfaces/substances. Apparently zeolite (and minerals in general) were used after Chernobyl with great success.
