Peeps at the granturismo.com forums are *****in' about GT4 only having 6 cars...

If anyone can clarify it for me... The screens so far only show 5 cars on a track (Tuskuba!... I'll beat that HKS Evo VII some day!)... so all we can establish is that there'll be at least five cars per race... there could be one car missing from that screen... or there could be 3 missing.

Any the only real new model seen is the 2003 Impreza WRC, right?

So there are still details we don't know.

No one needs to jump to any conclusions just yet... and if races stay at a max 6 cars, we might just wait to get a qualifier from Polyphony... like better AI.

 How did I miss this thread? OMG! That shot of the Viper in the Warehouse... can that really be a game? I don't think I could take better pictures in real life!

Obviously nothing is for certain yet, but I really hope it isn't fully online play, I hope there will still be offline races, where you can just practice, and gain money, and build up your garage before you go and show off your pretty cars to the world online. Also, I hope hybridding will still be possible, I still want to do engine swaps :p

Also, I wonder if you will be able to modify the bodies any, like adding body kits and such? :O

Oh I sure they will still have that. Prolly mainly for people who dont have an adapter yet.

Yeah, because that wouldn't be very good or fair to those who don't have a fast internet connection.

There will be this new game coming out that will be a challenge for GT4. Its something like Super Street Racer (I think). THe graphics and physics are of GT quality and there are some extra's. Like actual parts you can put on your car (not semi-race and sports, more like Greddy, Edlebrock, etc), and you can take a look at your engine bay and see the parts you insalled. Looks really nice. But I'd rather have GT4...

I think the game you are referring to is called "Street Racing Syndicate" and yeah that game looks pretty good, but it will be nothing compared to GT4. I hope you will be able to at least buy name brand car parts like you can rims if you can't buy body kits.

Yeah exactly, plus it has spoiled us for other games :) Any other game I play (Auto Modellista), I get fed up with it, because it just doesn't have the depth of GT3, man, PD has good long term marketing skills :p

Auto Modelista was a big let down. Under all the fluff was a very bad game. A racing game centers around its handling and physics. They spend so much time on making the game "look" good that they spent little or no time on the physics. There is no way in h*ll a Miata should have its tail end out at 30 MPH. Yeah the game might be center'd around drifting maybe but this game takes it too far. Its like driving on ice with bald tires. Its a shame all those nice features went to waste on a horrible game...

I actually found it impossible to slide around the turns because of the piss poor physics. In GT3 you can drift around turns and slide the crap out of the cars if you know how to, without spinning, but in AM, if you get it one bit sideways, like at that Tokyo Highway garbage, your end will go right around, I just got so fed up with it that I sold it to my friend for like $30, I must have paid close to $70 :banghead:

Edit: Oh yeah and another thing, in AM, a Civic CRX shouldn't be able to keep up with a Skyline

Anyway back to the topic at hand, GT4 :D

The Yellow Corvette, Blue Skyline, and White ITR are the only pictures that look in-game to me. The rest look like concept art (besides the real photos).

Hrm... I'm getting 404 at the original link? Is it still up somewhere else?

From what I've seen - and yes, I have the magazine - the new in-game cars shown are: Nissan 350Z (different to the Z Concept!) - although it's possibly a Lexus SC430, I can't tell - Lancer EvoVIII WRC (with Tommi Makinen's name on it, 'cept he drives for Subaru), Impreza '03 WRC and Honda Integra Type-R '03.

In the queues for photography I've seen a Rolls Royce, TVR 350i, Rover 75/MG ZT, Westfield, Caterham, Triumph TR-7, Mk3 Golf, VW Polo and I HOPE it was a programmer's car, but there's a Citroen BX in the pictures... :D

Does anyone know if you can play Ps2 online in Sweden by the time the game comes out?

The Dutch release date for online PS2 play is end of May/early June. I think this is also the European release date.

But i think you don't have to worry at all, they will not be so stupid to release the game before the whole world can play online.

So Mischa, you don't have any online game play with the PS2 over there in the land of windmills?

Not yet. I just read it will be launched May 23rd.

I think i will buy it, but i don't know how much it will cost and how it works exactly.

Can you inform me a bit, Rob? How much did/do you pay? And what is hooked up on what?

Well, I've been playing Socom US Navy Seals alot lately. It's fully online and all you need to have is a PS2 Network Adaptor and a broadband hook up. The Network Adaptor was about $40 US dollars and there is no monthly fee to pay to play the games. Yet. ;) There has been some rumor that a "pay to play" scheme might be intorduced, but that might only be for certain games, if at all.

What is it exactly that is going to be released on May 23rd for your area?

I have no idea what is going to be released to be honest.

I only read that " online gaming will be available on Ps2 the 23rd of May". But i think it's the same as what you had to buy.

I was thinking of buying Socom myself. I read a review and it looked pretty cool, with the headphones and all.

If you thinking of getting Socom, you might want to wait a bit as Socom 2 is scheduled to hit the shelves in October or November. Socom 2 will get rid of all the "glitches" that are in the game and will enhance the game play a bit further with new maps and such. But it's a really cool game. I'd definately rate it up there with GT3 as a favorite game. :D
The online play is really great, as your playing against humans rather than idiot AI players.
The headset function is really great as you get to verbally communicate with the players on your team. Up to 8 people on your team. Really cool.
I think it would be a blast to be able to talk to ya verbally for once.
I know that there is a dedicated "Dutch" server on the server menu of Socom, so hopefully you will be getting it over there, I'd love to play with you.

Sorry for getting off topic. :O

As long as you don't kick mu butt horribly, i'd love to play with you sometimes. Even though i completely suck at shooters etc.

Been playing Day of Defeat a couple of times recently, and it tells me that i should stick with GT3, because i stink .

But it is the fun that counts!

( I also apologize for our small off-topic conversation ).

Keep me posted as to what exactly happens on May 23rd and what's available to you over there as far as online games.
Is Socom available to you over there now?
