"The Fog" is coming out this Friday. I saw the original for the first time, when I was like ten. I rented it on DVD earlier this year, still thought it was pretty good.

It's nice to see Shannon from the TV show, "Lost" is in it. :P I hope the new Fog is as good as the original.

Being a huge die-hard John Carpenter fan, surprisingly enough I did not like his original version of The Fog. I found it to be boring recycled horror movie rubbish. I'd rather see Carpenter work his magic in Halloween or The Thing. But this new version looks promising, and that's saying a lot in the current landscape of horror ****e, which has given us such turds as the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and The Devil's Rejects. Let's hope this one's more like the Dawn of the Dead remake, or even Land of the Dead...

Can anyone say mass smoke machine orgy? I'm not to excited about this. The only horror movie I remotely like was Identity. But I still have a lot to see. Fog.....please......I actually find snow to be creepier sometimes, everything is just so quiet when there's snow.

I guess I shouldn't judge too much since I haven't seen this work of art.

Anderton, I hope you didn't see the Amityville Horror. :scared: It's the scariest movie I've seen this year. It takes an hour and twenty minutes of your life and will not give it back!

I agree with you guys on The Thing and Identity. I probably liked them more than you guys did. I'd give them both "A". 👍

No, I did not watch the Amityville remake. I've always been wary of remakes; they rarely work. Still, I'm hoping this one is at least mildly entertaining.

You didn't miss much with the Amityville remake. It had one part that made me jump, and the suspense was very little. Not a good thriller, or a good horror movie. Tried to saddle the two genre's and didn't catch a foothold on either.

"What lies beneath" did it much better.

The Fog does appear to be just a rehash of and older movie, therefore, I'm setting the expectations bar rather low.

Ditto on all of the above...but I'd like to see something else other than a lame arse remake. 👎

Uggh, that amityville remake was awful. Plotless and unoriginal, in my opinion. The Fog remake could be good. It's got the guy from smallville in it!

I rarely disagree on your posts Anderton (Lack of posting in said threads should prove so).. I did, however, find "The Devils Rejects" quite entertaining and not the least bit disappointing....

Saw it last night. Absolute dreck. Though the original has never been one of my favourite Carpenter films, this "remake" is chock-full of every horror movie cliche in the book. There's almost no tension buildup until the last 10 minutes or so, when the movie starts to get cool. But it's way too little and far too late. I recommend you stay in and rent the original if you must see The Fog...

Darn! Is it really that hard to come up with good movies these days? I will still rent it though.

Sunday night, I was watching Ebert & Roeper and was waiting for the review of "The Fog". The studio actually refused to give them a copy to review! Last time I saw this happen on Ebert & Roeper was the American Idol movie, so you can imagine how bad this movie must be. I just checked rottentomatoes.com to see how it was rated there. By the critics=4%! By the users=30%. Pretty bad. I'm just wondering how many reviewers were refused a viewing copy, so couldn't have give it a bad rating, which would have lowered it even more. 👎
