Those are Ligier mechanics, which makes sense in a Monsanto/Emeryson sort of way, following standard Kuwashima Theory.

Also I think it's nice to see that Ferrari have extended their partnership with Phillip Morris.
 
It must be something to do with Data Protection or copyright or something that means you can't use cars less than 5 years old. IIRC, the same pics of Austin had Jordan's racing :lol:

I like the layout, it has long straights but good corners as well. I've circled some areas where I think there could be some problems, these include lack of available runoff areas and very narrow parts (mainly the historic district), the biggest problem I can see is turn 1, there is a massively long straight and it appears to not have much runoff.

Clip the back of someone's tyre going into T1 at high speed. Get 20-30 meters of air on the front wheels and you're hitting a wall HARD.
 
Formula 1 cars don't constantly accelerate. They will reach their top speed long before the braking zone for the first corner, and plateau out. They will only need as much run-off as the speed allows.

For a street track, that is a huge runoff at turn one.

Pretty sure the FIA wouldnt have approved the track with a straight like that if it didn't have a 6 lane road as runoff. Will be very interesting to see how the section around the old town turns out.
 
A note (in spanish) regarding the Mexican GP and the works on the Autodromo Hmnos Rodriguez:

Highlights:

- They are trying to preserve most of the old circuit layout, just being modified to accomplish FIA security policies in the S Curve section and Peraltada curve (cutted to the half).

-Baseball Stadium (Foro Sol) will host around 27,000 seats, also tthis ection will have the lowest curve in the layout (80 KM/H)

- Circuit is being planned to match top speed of Monza (328 km/h)


-Avergare speed estimated to be of 204 km/h

- The main challenge for the designers was to keep the fast nature of the old circuit but matching the new estrict safety regulations for the drivers and spectators.

-T4 Curve stands will have 40,000 seats using a-like stadium design, main straight stands will be the same, but will be remodeled

-Works are at 40% right now, they will deliver the track to FIA 90 days before the GP takes place

- The image on the note has the old layout in green, and new Tilke-lized design on red.
 
Surely that's going to be a night race. Under the Las Vegas lights. They won't turn down a chance like that would they.

Yes, they would - running it at night would mean it would start at about two o'clock in the morning for European audiences.
 
They want more American viewers and for that night race in Las Vegas sounds like it could do much even if it means that the race would be shown at 2:00.
 
I doubt they would be willing to definitively give up on European viewers for the sake of possibly getting a few more American viewers. A night race won't guarantee larger audiences. Certainly not enough to make up for the shortfall in European audiences. It's simply not worth it.
 
YES, I'M SO EXCITED! The fact that Tilke is reportedly already scouting out locations doesn't exactly mean too much, but things are looking good so far! I'll be sure to update you guys on the progress locally, can't wait for more updates!

I'm sure the Unions (which are way too powerful here) and other forces are going to try and meddle with things, but hopefully it doesn't derail things too much.

I work on the Strip and live super close, 20 minute walk, 5 minute drive. This is just dreamy. Can't get my hopes up too much though, anything can happen. It'd be perfect though.

Oh and if you guys draw up some proposed routes for the track I can definitel let you know how feasible they'd be!
