Well, imho it's still a stupid and weird way to say it, nevertheless... Especially since the "G" refers to "Graphics", which isn't pronounced "Jraphics".

I'll keep saying "GEEF", thanks.

Whilst I agree that it should be "gif" rather than "jif", your example about it being Graphics not Jraphics doesn't hold up. Loads of acronyms sound different than the pronunciation of each word. PIN, LASER etc. etc.
