Much better then the ugly ass Zephyer they just brought out.

oh man I must be the only person that likes the Zephyr. The back end of this at first glance sort of looks like a Saturn :yuck: Its not necessarily bad but ruins the luxury car image you know?

EDIT: I take that back the Zephyr is pretty bad, I was thinking of another concept that was shown recently, that thing looked f-in sweet.

You just combined Saturn and Luxury in the same sentence...therefore the Zephyr can't be good. I think I would cry if Saturn tried there hand a a lux model.

lol I meant the Town car rear reminded me of a Saturn. Not sure why, it doesnt really look like one but the rear end just sort of has a bland, cheap look to it.

And it turns out I was indeed thinking of the Zephyr.....concept. The production one looks like crap but check this thing out.

way to drop the ball, Lincoln

So wait...AWD.

Does it start FF, meaning it's based on the Mazda 6 chassis?

Or is it going to be off the Crown Vic replacement chassis?

Which I suspect will be a Falcon, using an Aussie Falcon/FPV chassis brought up to the states.

I hope Ford doesn't completely drop the Vic/Falcon full size, V-8, RWD cars.

Maybe this is on the Iosis platform?

Sure doesn't look like a longitudinal mount... might be a transverse V8 using that new transmission Blazin' was talking about.

Looks great, and it may actually be the first Linclon that could actually compare to a Cadillac in almost ten years.

Pros: Good looks outside and inside, compotent powertrain
Cons: Will the styling alienate the 60+ crowd Linclon usually appeals to?
Verdict: The best modern Linclon since the Mark VIII and LS V8, thats saying a lot...

Only Lincoln I've ever liked was the Lincoln LS. With this deal here, this looks pretty nice. I'm still not easily excitable about Lincoln, not even with this model. I would maybe like the car to be vertically lower and a little horizonatally wider, but other than that, nice machine.

Do some you think this is more like a "grandfather" car (catered more towards those 35 or older), or perhaps something to get younger buyers into? Is this more like as Cadillac's trying to appeal to younger audiences?

...Ahh, remember the glory days of the Linclon LS? That was way back when Ford actually believed they could out-BMW BMW... They came close, but it still lacked the goods... Maybe they should have gone with the Mustang Cobra's V8?

You don't need muscle to fight BMW... you need finesse. The LS had that... but it couldn't convince people of that.

The LS Platform... poor Ford. They actually got it right for once. Magazines damn the LS and the Jaguar S-Type with praise, but buyers didn't buy into it... then Ford finally wises up and gives it candy wrapping in the T-Bird... and they still **** it up.

At lest with the Mustang, they've found a wrapper for the LS platform that people can dig. If they spent just half as much time and talent designing the LS as they did the otherwise crapulent T-Bird and the beautiful new Mustang, maybe we'd still have an LS on the market.

Caddy didn't find the youth market... the youth market found Caddy. There's no way you can force them to come to you... you don't design something for the youth market. You design something cool, like the Mustang, and let the youth market discover you.

That looks like Crap. And i wouldn't be suprised if that was a FWD thing built off of the Freestyle chassis, given Ford's new migration to FF cars.
And the new 6 speed codeveloped with GM is going to be used in mostly FF cars anyway, so i expect an FWD car with Part Time AWD.

Scion xB. Designed specifically for young buyers, and has become one of the most trendy cars available(for better or for worse...).

As for the Towncar, it looks awsome from the front. Then, it gets gradually worse as you move around to the back. Those side vents annoy me; it gives the impression they are trying to copy BMW... blatantly that is.

From the front, it looks awesome, real mean. From the side, its like it goes from good to bad, peaking at nasty with the G6 inspired back end.

I give it 6 old grandpa's out of 10.

True, but did you know that most of the people who are buying Scions are well out of the 18-34 age market that they target?

So was the Toyota Echo, which was bought on average by 55 year olds.
The Honda Element was too: average buyer age: 46
Pontiac Aztek: Average buyer age: unknown, as no one bought them, but you get my point.

Pity the poor Lincoln LS. Ford did get it right to a degree than not even Cadillac has achieved yet, but the cars just sat there. As quote by Motor Trend: "Before the Chrysler 300C, the best car built in America." This replacement for it is just ugly and overstyled, not understated and subtle like the LS before it. Oh well.

No, I've have NEVER seen anyone without gray hair driving an xB.

I've seen a couple of maybe 30 somethings in xA's, but you certainly don't see a bunch of hip kids packed into an xB rolling down the street.

The LS, I lament it too, but hey, at least the used ones will depreciate rapidly, right?

Edit: Just to point out, building an odd looking, economical, completely non-sporty car, with lots of interior room, a good price point, and Toyota quality, then hoping kids buy it is absurd.

Kids buy used cars because they're poor, or you can't find cars like they want anymore (example: affordable, rwd, hardtop, handles well)...Kids that buy new cars generally have too much money anyways, and they sure as hell aren't going to want an affordable Scion, they want something flashy and blingy that they can get stupid ass 22 inch rims on.

You want young guys to spend their money on your cars? Build a new 240sx, build a new rwd MX coupe, build a new rwd toyota like the old corrola, give them something they can tinker with, and work on.

We don't want crap that some designer thought would be hip and unique, for the most part, guys 18-34 want something they can make unique themselves, unfortunately they wind up getting Civics, just like everyone else it seems.

Hey I've got enough money to buy somethin like that( money was not given to me I worked for it). I sure as hell don't plan on ricerizing it. It's true I won't buy a Scion. Who wants an econo box as a "sporty" car.

If I was to be in the market for a small, economical new car, the local Scion dealer would probably be the last one to check out... Sure, Scions are "cheap" and I suppose they could be placed in the "fun to drive" category, but they cant hide the fact they are Toyotas... Slopy steering, low power output, squishy ride. The Honda Fit ranks pretty high among the superminis, along with the upcoming Nissan Versa...

Of course, it would be most likely that I would be looking at a new Volkswagen. Although they lack a supermini like the Polo/Fox in the US, the Golf can still be had for a bit over $16K... About the same price you would pay for a Scion xA if similarly equipped.

But if I had it my way, I'd be driving a Camaro or Mustang...

Like I said, the reason older people buy Scions is for their kids. They're totally inoffensive non-car-people cars that to a parent, looks like something junior won't drag race or crash into a tree.

If I were to get my kid a car as brand new, those would actually be on my short-list.

If I were buying for myself, well... hell no.
