The FD will probably always be the best one by every metric but I've always leaned towards the 70s/80s era cars. I get that same fun little charm from the FB like you would a Miata or any British roadster. That and I own one.

Not going to be too biased because one of my nephews own an FD Efini. I do like the FB the most. It’s tiny. It’s the one I’ve always wanted to own. Love how all models weren’t all powerful like Z cars and Supras. Mazda kept the cars lightweight and still pretty and unique looking(ahem, don’t stare too long at the FC :sly: ).

All models with awesome race pedigrees.
FD the best in its final evolution
FB my favourite for paving the way of legend that is the RX-7

The FB is really nice in person but the FD just oozes coolness. Got hooked on it usually being one of the Class A CPU cars in GT1 and it looks so good in black with a wing like the RZ.

I think I like the first generation the best, especially in green or brown, but the third generation is close behind it, just because it's the car from my younger days. The second generation has always been a goofy-looking car to me that I have zero interest in.

Also look at those seats. Plaid is cool.

Keep in mind what was around with the second generation:

Ah, it's been a while since we've had All80sCoupes.jpg

Coincidentally, I was watching Clarkson's Car Years recently and he had a quick piece on follow-the-leader engineering:

Not on the RX-7's segment but it still made me laugh that this GTP-famous image came back to mind. In another episode, he directly states that the FC RX-7 was a 944 imitation.

My dad briefly owned a Montego Blue FD quite some time ago and while it's possibly the most unreliable car he's ever owned, it's still so cool. Peak Mazda design IMO.

Yep. I believe it was a Car & Driver or Automobile magazine I had at the time that mentioned the comparison of the designs.

In a modern world almost completely devoid of pure coupes, all generations of RX-7s have a high degree of charm.

But for me the FD stands out as an all time great design. Troublesome as the rotary could be, Mazda sticking with it only made it cooler.

Gotta be the SA22. Such a perfectly executed car that Mazda never really was able to replicate the lightning in the bottle feel of on the market, no matter how much of a 944-at-half-the-price or shrink-wrapped jet fighter of a sports car that they tried in the subsequent two generations.

Missed the vote on this but for me it's the Series 2 with a slight edge over the SA22, and the Series 3 well behind but I still like them.
