One of the slower cars but so fun to drive, the Jaguar E-Type 61´... Loved it in GT4 and love it in GT5...

I think the Zonda R might just have the steepest learning curve. That car loses control so easily, but if you can handle it, its a rocket.

I love the engine sound of the Ferrari F40. It just has a more noticeable induction noise than some turbos. I use the "Bumper Cam" and it is one of the few cars that actually manages to sound really good with that view. I love putting on some soft slicks and blasting around Rome in it. The money from the race is a definite bonus!

I went the two 458 Italia route. My original one is now tuned and weight reduced to the max (to give Bob a fighting chance when he drove it). I now have a stock one which I have used a few times unmodded (other than soft slicks) for a remunerative blast around that Rome circuit.

Using the same tyre tactics and no engine mods, I love the 330 P4 and XJ13 at that Rome track as well. After a nightmare Deep Forest Historic Race in the P4 (one mistake and I lose) the "stock" model was something of a revelation.

The 458 Italia was my favorite car early game, and the first "big" purchase i made.

The GT-R Spec V is amazing too, handles well and fully tuned is superb.

All the NSX's Super GT's have amazing handle.

NSX Stealth-amazing handling and with 666 hp gets around the track faster than it should.

McLaren F1 Stealth-been using it as my grinder at Euro Champ Rome. I've yet to get tired of it. Not all that much power but sticks well for a non-wing non-race car. Great brakes. More of a handful than the regular F1 but with about 2.3 rear camber not crazy hard, just have to keep on your toes.

Chaparral 2J fan car-fastest old car around most tracks. Slides enough to make it interesting. Will walk away from a Toyota 7 at Deep Forest. Expensive at 14.4 mil. For some reason this car is special to me and my favorite in the game, so far.

Peugeot 905-a little quicker than a Minolta around Suzuka. The view is low so it makes it feel wicked fast.

I absolutely love my Mazda RX-8. I think its just so perfectly balanced it puts a smile on my face whether stock or tuned to the teeth.

For tail-happy driving a stock Ferarri 512BB is just so much fun on Suzuka. I can't bring myself to tune it at all, I love driving it so much as-is.

Since we have the black list of crap cars it's only fair that we have one were we post the excellent ones. Here are my personal favorites.

Ferrari Enzo: This car is a complete beast, I've left it completely stock and before I finish any session of GT I take it for atleast one lap around the Ring on Sport Hard tires. This IMO highlights the biggest strength of GT5, and that's the vast improvement in physics. This car combo is extremely challenging, and soon I will tackle it with Comfort Soft. Totally worth the 1mil credits.

PS. the engine is worked in to 690bhp stock!!! Wheel spin in every gear after every bump. This car is not for beginners and not for racers without a wheel IMO, with aids all off this car is a hand full for veterans even. BUT, there isn't a more rewarding feeling than getting a corner right in this machine. (My PB is currently 7:17.xxx on Nurburgring, I'd love to hear if anyone tries it

I can't agree with the Enzo being on the Gold list of Superb cars.

It handles something like a guided missle.

IMO it was gimped by PD just like how the Ford GT was gimped in GT5P. Both cars, if not gimped, would be monsters that would dominate and would become something of a cheat car. PD gimped the GTs with one of the GT5P updates and the Enzo was gimped from the start in GT5 with horrendous understeer.

With some tuning I've managed to remove alot of the understeer and was able to shave 5 seconds off the stock suspension setup lap at Suzuka. I raced it online at Suzuka vs some fully tuned 458 Italias and it was pulling away 4 seconds a lap. At Trial Mountain about 1.5 seconds a lap quicker then the fully tuned Italias and I was running the minimum 655 HP (no oil change).

I've only raced it at the ring with Racing soft tires and managed a 6'32 @ 714 HP. You are right this car magnifies the game's amazing physics. Though this is not real I really felt scared in racing the track which constantly tried to throw me into trees at 180mph. The force feedback you get from the stiff Enzo suspension added to the experience. It's moments like that make me wonder why people hate GT5 so much when the the most important part of the game, the driving physics, are amazing.

In fact the car was over 1 second quicker through the first sector then my Ford GT running the same horse power. This could be just because the Enzo is around 150kgs lighter, but the Enzo lap felt so so much faster. It could have just been the extra gear shifts or more force feedback coming through the wheel but the sense of speed was so much more pronounced.

My Gold cars:

McLaren F1 '94
Ford GT '06
Tommy Kaira ZZII '00

Thats all I can think of right now

Definitely a fan of the Ferrari California. Mine looks sexy in a baby blue and handles very well and has some kick. So far I have the Corvette Z06 and it is pretty good, but I am looking forward to the ZR1

My golden cars:
Ferrari 458 Italia
Lambo Gallardo
HEP G37

The G37 handles amazingly, the Gallardo has just the right amount of slide, and the Iltalia has insane power.

Bought it as a X-mas present for myself, Black Corvette ZR-1 still in stock condition

Haven't been to many other tracks with it yet (GVS, Laguna, etc), but it is a dream to drive at Nurburgring, with a wheel it just feels alive in the corners, and powering out is joy all the time, odd for an american car, but as Jeremy Clarkson put it - "Well done fat man from Kentucky...this...is...a.masterpiece!!" 👍

IMO Every different race series, starting with beginner Club Race, has it's own gold standard....

Can't wait to get my RM Cappuchino out there....:)

Caterham Seven Fireblade - its pure driving. There's nothing to to detract you from whats at hand, little in the way of anything except the pursue of handling.

Definitely a fan of the Ferrari California. Mine looks sexy in a baby blue and handles very well and has some kick.

👍 Thought I was the only one that painted a California a light blue! I got it as a prize in a color I didn't like at all...painted it something that would match the interior only for the interior to default to black, so I used the paint chip from a light blue Triumph Spitfire...I thought it would be funny but I've grown to like it alot!

My latest favorite is the '02 Abt Audi TT-R Touring Car - fully modded it's pulling 625HP which is great for a touring car, lapping the Nordschleife in 6:53 in the DTM Extreme series traffic. Great handling with just the right amount of oversteer on power.

All hail the ZZII

Best car in the game - period.

It only costs 59,000!!!

550bhp
4wd
1000kgs
Rear / mid engine (can't remember whether it's RR or MR)

Unbelievably good value for money. Simply untouchable for the money.

It is really unbelieveably good value for money I bought it today and was using it for the super gt events I didn't win but I was close lol btw it's 4WD lol :)

When i first took my STi 05 RM to track i smiled seeing how good it felt..not too fast but really enjoyable..👍

BMW M3 GTR RC
Lupo Cup Car is a lot of fun
Mazda Furai
Sauber Merc Group C
Budget build would be the Hyundai Tiberon With full mods.
I still have a blast hearing comments when I enter a 300 hp race with my Matte Pink 88 Volvo Wagon with full tune.

Ferrari 458 Italia - Very fast and very easy to drive, while still being exciting.
Ferrari F430 Scuderia - Also very fast and easier to drive. Less exciting but still fun.
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution RM - Incredibly useful. It does rallying, high speed and technical courses.
Peugeot 908 HDi FAP - Absolutely beastly car. Just as fast as the old Group C cars except being slightly slower with acceleration and top speed. Destroys them at everything else.
TVR Tuscan Speed 6 RM - Has great power to weight and doesn't suffer from squirrely TVR syndrome. Thus the track beast can be unleashed.
Audi RS6 Avant - Best. Estate. Ever.
Mercedes SLS AMG - For its heavy weight, it is incredibly balanced and nice to drive.
Ford GT - I didn't expect it to be as good as it is. Very fast around courses and surprisingly stable.

I think I'll leave the list there. We could be here all day otherwise.

Pagani Zonda R 09 ridiculously fast. 0-100km/h in 2.7s stock and handles like a dream with slicks on
'71 Mustang beautiful car, sounds amazing, tuned to the max makes it fun to drive

My absolute favorites so far:

NSX-R, mildly tuned - best handling ever
RE Amemiya FD3S - always loved the sound of a nicely tuned rotary engine - the RE Amemiya GT300 racer with turbo tuning sounds even more menacing (and basically transforms into a legal GT500 car this way)
Honda S2000 tuned and maxed out with weight, tires and chassis - awesome car - a NSX for short, windy tracks - brilliant handling.
GTR R32 - this car is just crazy fast!
Mazda RX7 FD - fully tuned, except mild engine tune - love this car on the Nordschleife @ night with zoomed cockpit view - like, you are there!

i think the f430 scurderia is just as good as the enzo or better i got a 7:10 on the ring

What tires did you use, and was the car stock? My stock Enzo has broken in now to about 692bhp, and on Sport Hard tires I managed to lower the time tonight to 7:13.647, I can definitely see sub 7:10s.

The Ferrari 458 is as quick as an enzo, more fun to drive and much cheaper.
The Murciélago SV sounds good, handles very well and has a lot of power.
The 2010 Impreza is just a great handling car - and isn't too far behind some supercars at Trial Mountain.

I gotta say that recently I got a hold of a '70 Skyline (KPGC10) and gave her the full monty in racing parts, she only tops out at 300 horses but is a blast to drive! Sticks to the road like glue!

I have to say the

Honda Civic Type-R Saloon (don't know what year)...I was doing the first set of licenses in slow cars, and then I get to do this in Suzuka and then...whoa! It handled and sounded like a dream; cockpit mode was awesome.

Mercedes SLS Was doing the set of Nurburgring Challenges and had finished with the 300SL, changed to this and was like ARGH!!! This car was insanely fast! It just piled on the speed!

Lamborghini LP560-4 Using this in Arcade mode/indy...downchanging gears was really fun, but it was a bit squirelly under hard braking.

That Motul Civic Race car/ Awesome sound, awesome handling, and changes gears really quickly.

Buick Special Chokingly fast; doesn't have the best handling though

What I like to do in GT5 is taking the cars pretty much stock (I mostly switch to a sport exhaust) on the Nordschleife. Sometimes to get the quickest time as possible, sometimes to get as much fun (sideways) as possible.

I haven´t driven all of the available cars yet of course, but some did stand out.

The Countach 25th anniversary. I have a very special relationship with this car, so I was glad to finally buy it in the online dealership. Very pleasantly surprised with its handling actually. It was quite fast on the ring even stock.

The Corvette ZR1. Very exciting car to drive. You really have to be careful with the throttle, and if you want to you can get very nice poweroversteer on corner exits. Racing this car on the limit feels very good. It is a fine line between a fast corner and a crash.

The 458 Italia. Even faster than the ZR1 and way, way more controllable. Hard to get a smooth drift in faster corners at first, but therefore more thrilling when you do. Simply feels very fast and sharp.

The California. A lot easier to drive and quite a lot slower as well than the 458. But a lot of fun hangin the tail out on the ring with the roof down.

All the cars above need one thing to be really great, and that is more immersive engine sounds. But that is another thread.

What is really great allready is the physics engine. The experience driving this cars on the beautifully modelled Nordschleife is very very good. You get a great feel for the different cars.

Now I only need that throaty roar of the Ferrari 8-Cylinder to put a smile on my face. (Please PD, please hire a few more sound guys)
