Ok, watched the vid. I have to say, that this vid is much better than your last couple vids (by a long shot). I don't really agree with your Choku Dori method, but to each his own IMO. Plus I don't really ever need to use the side brake. I hope this helps some of the new drifters. I aplaud you, for taking the time to create something informative. Keep it up, and keep practicing.;)

nice video night drifter looks like it took a lot of work ,and I am glad to see you went through with it .As for a nice cockpit I build one for about 40 bucks using the plans from the link below ,I did mod it so the seat wasn't attached to the wheel base.

oh and night you got some nice stright white teeth

Shadow, it would make more sense to make each drift technique a seperate video IMO. That way the 56k'ers can view it more easily. Also, this way we don't have to sit through such a long video.;)

kuso.. i wish i had a wheel after watching that.. also one word would be to have a little less words and more real explanations.. although i know it is the intro vid.. but otherwise, super impressive

I have my own server, they allow up to 5GBs of storage space and 100GBs of bandwidth, all for the low low price of 40 dollars a year. WOOO, ipowerweb.com rocks.

Well, I had just got through watching Option Video volume 15 and their drift techniques descriptions were pretty lengthy, so I just figured that since every technique is important that I should just start explaining them all. It's large I know but I think it's worth it. I don't know, maybe next time I'll use a better compressor than WMV.

Thanks for the compliments, the main reason that I got so long winded is that I have to make sure that all the newbies understand fully what they are trying to accomplish in their drifting ventures. I am the exact same way when I teach people in real life, so I figured since it works in real life it should work here. Right? I don't know, maybe it was a little wordy but hey, if it helps the people understand better, then it was worth it. You just have to remember that it may only seem long winded to you because you allready understand and have gotten those techniques down, people who are completely new to drifting may find that I haven't said enough in my descriptions. There's always two sides to each story.

agreed

nice video.. i would also like to disagree with your chokudori style.. but everything else was good. oh yea.. thanks for the shoutout.. i wasnt expecting that :D

I got mad shoutouts :P lol.

I've written alot on drifting recently. I was talking to shadow drifter yesterday, and I realized I have no idea how I drift, I just go out and do it. I dont know why it works, I just know it works, lol. So I sat down and started typing out how I drifted, and it came out to be a pretty in depth peice of writing that gets in depth on throttle control, corner entry, setting up the drift, exitting, tracing, wheel motions, etc. I'll post it if anyone wants to read it.

Are you asking me, or yourself? I don't have the kind of time to put together a drift bibile. I know the techniques, and that's enough for me.;)

checked your Drift bible.......I must say, you do like repeating yourself.....ALOT:lol:

Joking aside, it was pretty definitive for what it was. I just bought a MC2 microcon wheel not that long ago, and am having major problems with it. I'm hoping that further review of your vid will help out with that.
Thanx for the start.

cool vid! but the end was kinda stupid....

the techniques that involved the E-brake i really didn't kno too much about. The only time i ever use the E-brake is when i'm driftin FF cars, i hate using the E-brake for any thin else, but that's just me......
can't wait to see sum more vids like this, explaining mo techniques

That ebrake technique was suppose to be a choku dori, but I think he could have done it better. You are suppose to be travelling fast when you do the ebrake chokudori...I'm dissappointed in how you did it, not the video, but the chokudori. But I guess the explaination was right, just you needed to travel faster.

Basically, when you drift through a corner, you can imagine the normal line that your cars weight center takes...its a nice parabola sorta, or fishing hook line...imagine if you will. What the purpose of the chokudori is to have an early extension to the start of the parabola/ fishing hook line, and it is in this early extension / enterance where you quickly turn and pull the ebrake and then slam the brakes quickly to quickly bring your rear around so that your in your drift angle and not yet taking the parabola line, but a straight line powerdrift and your in the drift angle in preparation for the entering the corner to finish off the drift as you would normally by powering out the rear end. In my opinion, when executed well, its awesome looking because your car is at a drift angle coming down the straight before even entering the corner.

He had it right. Choku-Dori's are side-to-side drifts down a straight. An ebrake drift is simply that...a drift initiated using the ebrake. They're entirely different things.

those are called manjis...drifting back and forth down the straight. Chokudori is entering a drift earlier than normal and entering the corner already in your drift angle.

I think I've argued this with you before. Driftclub.com stated in their drift technique guide that manji is drifting back and forth on a straight..then a bunch of other sites copied their guide word for word.

Driftsession.com states:
Swaying Drift (Choku-Dori)
This is a slow side-to-side faint like drift where the rear end sways back and forth down a strait

Ever person I've talked to aside from you has agreed that this is the real definition of choku-dori. Manji is another term that could be used for it, but ebrake drift and choku-dori are not the same thing.

Agreed, this is the way I have always heard it. ;)

ive heard manji is the swaying drift.. and choku dori is getting sideways on the straight.. which could basically mean the same.. just slightly different

I don't mean to be difficult or bring this thread away from it's topic of normal discussion but when I watched Option Video Volue 15, they showed Choku-Dori and Manji and when they showed Choku-Dori, the drifters gathered speed cranked the E and let them slide, however, when Manji was bought up they went drifting from side to side down a straight, so this is what I'm going to believe, no offense, but I'll believe the D1 champions from the last three events before I believe any American, that's just me, if you need further proof, I'll upload the vids.
