It's early 1997 and a young Kazunori Yamauchi is in the midst of getting a project together and launching a new company. He's chatting to one of the high-flying execs at Sony...
Exec: "Look, Kazunori-san, I like you and this project is bad ass and all, but you need to create some fuss about it."
Kaz: "Okay, what did you have in mind?"
Exec: "I have this friend who works for Toyota. Actually, he sort of runs it... Anyway, he's agreed to lend me one of their race cars. You're going to make it all fancy and campaign it in the JGTC."
Kaz: "Oh wow! That's incredible! Thank you so much for the opportunity!"
Exec: "But you better win some races, or at least make a scene out of it. We can't have you just sitting in the pits..."
Kaz: "I won't let you down!"
Exec: "Make sure it's purple too. Needs to stand out."
Exec: "And don't crash, these things don't bounce quite like in your game!"
