Volkswagen Brasilia, that one is an early eighties car... that was my mom's car when I was young, I am Brazilian...

The Puma wasn't quite an experimentation with VW and Porsche engines, it was an actual car manufacturer in Brazil, much like RUF in Germany. Their engines were based on the VW flat 4 aircooled engine from the Beetle (Type 1) or Brasilia (Type 3), but Puma chnaged the engine substantially, with thir own parts. From the factory, a Beetle-engine powered Puma GT came with 90+ hp versus the Beetle with 45-50 hp. Officially there were no Porsche powered Pumas, but some enthusiasts actually put 4 or 6 cylinder Porsche engines in their Pumas. My uncle worked as a mechanical engineer at Puma in the late 70s... he said he remembers one Puma GTC (Convertible) that had a 6-cylinder engine made by Puma... They welded a VW flat 4 and another half of another flat 4 together, made a crankshaft and put the things together. He said the car made close to 160 hp, was damn fast, since those cars are light. He said the guys who drove the big V8s in Brazil (Ford Maverick GT 5.0, Doge Charger R/T) couldn't believe that Puma was faster than their cars, but he could not show the engine to them as it was a factory prototype. The project was scrapped because that engine made the lil Puma too rear end heavy and there were over steering problems.

The first Pumas were actually made in the mid 60s, with a similar body and DKW-Vemag 2-stroke 2 cylinder engines... They switched to VW after DKW (who was owned by Audi) was bought by VW and the DKW factory started making VWs. Here are some old DKW-Malzoni Pumas, some good looking cars, I believe:

OMG!!! WHAT IN HELL IS THAT??
no, its one of the oddest cars I have seen, never came to mexico. what is it???

:odd:
EDIT: wait, I was just reading your post and you say "here is another one". is that thing a Puma too??? @.@

It's a Puma GTB, it was the big Puma sold in Brazil, with a Chevrolet straight-6 2.5 engine from the Chevrolet Opala. That picture is of an 80s model. That engine produces gobs and gobs of power and it's currently used on the Chevrolet Omega...

its a fiat palio adventure, or something like that. I know because Fiat just got into mexico, and I've seen that POS in the streets.
