From the person who constructed the list for GT Sport, I wanted to make a new thread of hidden icons for GT7. So far, there seem to be more icons added in GT7, compared to GT Sport.

Gran Turismo [#X]
Similarly to GT Sport, you can use these icons anywhere in text entry by using a form of "[#X]" with X being a number.
The ones in bold are new in GT7.

Notes
  • The max amount of icons the game can contain is 8192. The icon's numbers are in increments of 8192. Ex. [#8193] is the same as [#01] because 8192 + 1 = 8193.
  • For numbers 1-9, the extra 0 isn't needed ([#1] is the same as [#01]).
  • You can put spaces between the # and the numbers inside the brackets and will still work (up to 14 spaces). ([#1] is the same as [# 1]).
  • There is a small left arrow on the PS keyboard, that is the same as inputting a "9" ([#←] is the same as [#9]).
  • You cannot add an icon to your nickname.

HTML Character Codes &#X;
Basic HTML character codes are supported in GT7 (via numeric codes & named codes).

Text Colors

You can color text anywhere in text entry by inputting "&#X;" in front of the text with X being a number. The color codes when it's inputted in the lobby chats and room names are different and listed here. The video above has more emphasis on colored text.

Room Titles/Profile/Showcase
White (Default Color)
Grey

Yellow
Turquoise
Black
Missing: Light Blue, Orange, Dark Grey

Lobby Chat

Missing: Light Blue, Orange, Turquoise

Notes
  • You can also have multiple colors in the text entry if you use more than one. Ex. " Color Text" as a room name will make "Color" red and "Text" blue.
  • If you want to have the color of your choice appear in your greetings in the chat, use the Lobby Chat list not the Menu list.
  • You cannot color your nickname, but you can color the AI driver names in Custom Race.

  • The image below is an example of the unknown emoji icon that appears for 𐀀 and over. This is because 65535 = 0xFFFF in hexadecimal which is the biggest four digit base-16 code. Anything higher will make the icon unknown.
    1674099234466.png
  • The Gran Turismo icons can also be accessed via a similar HTML format, "&#xEXXX"; , where XXX represents a hexadecimal code. Converting the number for each GT icon ([#XXXX]) to a hexadecimal will give the same output.
    • Ex. D-Pad Left & Right => [#46] =  because 46 (number) = 0x2E (hexadecimal)

Credits
There are icons used in the credits such as the Toyota and Suzuki Licensing Products that are listed aside from other licensing products. These logos does not have any text association; they are images that can't be accessed via text (credits to Nenkai). Therefore, all of the logos have been found.

7/29/22: Added HTML emoji reference link and . I realized some of the colors may vary across different menus. I think for now, it's accurate but may change.
8/3/22: Some named codes work. (Ex: " & · )
1/18/23: Added new section of HTML symbols
2/3/23: Added unit symbols, added more misc symbols, & notes about GT symbols to HTML
2/14/23: Added notice about the logos used in credits
11/3/23: Added Pink color in Lobby Chat
12/5/24: Added Alpine and Renault logo

I was wondering the same thing about colored font. Seems to be no info, i figured the grplanet gods would know if anyone...

I've recently finished search numbers up to 8192 and unfortunately, I could not find anything new other than new invisible slots between [#4100] and [#4268]. Icons start to repeat after 8192 so it wouldn't matter if I continued on.
Colored texts could use a different format other than [] or there is a some special combination of letters/numbers that needs to be inputted.

I found a guy who has been using colored text in a lobby. When I asked him how he did it, he said that it was some bug. Well, is it a bug? I saw him hosting a lobby twice with different colors. I'm not sure if he is doing it on purpose.

It would be nice if we have host migration & the ability to change room names in a lobby like GT Sport for further investigation.

Could it be that to get color for the text, you need to add the word color or colour after the first bracket and the = before adding numbers/letters for hex code. Thats how the coloured fonts on this forum work.

This is from my conversation with Famine about using colours on forum posts:

There's no direct way of doing it, so yes, you'll need to type some code :D BBCode is relatively friendly, so you can type in colour names - and there's some odd ones - but also if you happen to know the exact, six-digit RGB hex code (000000 for black, FFFFFF for white, and 16 million shades in-between) for your chosen colour you can use that instead. Essentially you need to type: [color=colour name] - obviously I use :D [color=#RGBHexcode] Note the American spelling of "color" in the tag. If you want to only have a specific bit of text in that colour, you'll need a closing tag afterwards: Also, if you quote this message, all those tags will vanish, because I put junk tags in them to make them show up instead of being read as code.

Could it be that GT might use same type of system?

This does not work in GT7 nor the format of [#RGBHexcode]. Also keep in mind that there is a 62 character limit for room names.
His "World Touring Car" room name uses 33 characters (Polyphony logo uses 4 characters each) with 3 different colors, so it would be obvious that 3 BBCodes will make the room name have too much characters.

It's unlikely they use closing tags as that'd use too many characters too (64 of 62 allowable):
<?>[#04]<\?><?>WORLD TOURING CAR<\?> <?>700<\?> pp <?>[#04]<\?>

It'd have to be a maximum of 5-characters to fit, two of which would have to be brackets (I assume), leaving 3 for the colour code:
<???>[#04]<???>WORLD TOURING CAR <???>700 <???>pp <???>[#04]

Doubt a short RGB hex [FFF] would work (though I haven't tried), and we haven't seen that many colours used, so it'd probably be a preset 16(?) colour palette with a control character before (or possibly after) the colour code. (So [?16] or [?F] or even a two character control string [??F])

Also, it doesn't even necessarily have to use the square brackets, but could use angle brackets or the pipe character ("|") or something else to bookend the code.

Just my barely-useful 2 cents. 💜

I wanted to make a new thread of hidden icons for GT7
This is a nice thread; thanks for resurrecting this topic.

I had not anticipated that GT7 introduced new Unicode characters. Regarding one range of these new characters in the upper range which you list here, I had documented privately several greater than [#4199] in GTS. My process was rather laborious & I quit at the point in which I discovered valid results in an upper range. Thanks for your effort; I vote that you receive one free game prize spin containing five random selections of gold bricks.

I termed these invisible characters as nonprintable. I had determined that the effect of entering one of these resulted in something being seven invisible characters in length. I cannot remember precisely my testing methodology. I believe that I inserted one of these between two other visible characters, then moved the selection carat left until it passed to the immediately previous visible character, counting the number of presses until I could detect movement within the character string input. I must experiment again when I have access to the game.
It seems to be possible to add color in the text entry. I have no idea how this works.
I wish that I knew how these were entered. Surely some undocumented prefix exists which enables additional colors. Let's experiment.
I found a couple of unknown icons as a room title in a lobby, I can't identify them.
Unicode includes many characters which are nonprintable for (English language) PC & mobile apps designed to display text. These often are classified as legacy control characters for computer I/O control, as for printing. They likely will be invisible, as you describe them, as a null character.

Others are of a text language or of a character set which is based not on Latin based languages. I assume that the app or the OS of the display device determines how these are displayed. They might be invisible or might be displayed using a default placeholder by the app or by the OS of the device. For instance, Samaritan Letter Baa displays as “ ࠅ”. I suspect, in my non-linguist capacity, that some other of these are accent characters which modify other characters. These seem to display sometimes (possibly when using a Latin based character font) with a perforated circle placeholder representing the variable accented character using the circle to represent the accented character’s place with respect to the accent character. Arabic Vowel Sign Inverted Small V Above displays as “ٛ” and appears similar to the unknown characters in an image you supplied. (Well, that character appeared in MS Word with that circle, but not here. Again, the display device chooses how to show them.)

I wish my work/GT7 activity balance could shift so that I have more time to drive. 🤷‍♀️ I hope that I have not missed any thread replies since I began creating this reply - Wednesday!

<???>[#04]<???>WORLD TOURING CAR <???>700 <???>pp <???>[#04]
Unfortunately, this format did not work. I do wonder though if the square brackets do include letters, however that would be extremely tedious to search through.
Also note that the same guy made a different lobby with the same room name but with different colors. Makes me question more if this was intentional and/or a country/regional specific bug.
1658597387267.png

So far, the 7 colors we know are:
Red
Orange
Yellow
Green
Light Blue
Blue
Black

There is also the default color (Grey) that can oddly be mixed with the colors. But you might be right about the color palette having specific indexes.
So the circles with the small icons isn't as exclusive to GT7, it's just that the character is not compatible with the Unicode. I'm still wondering the characters that caused them to appear in GT7, typing Arabic Vowel Sign Inverted Small V Above in the game does not work for example. Even though it may not be related to GT7, it's nice to take personal notes of this.

It blows my mind that even with the amount of coding knowledge shared above, that no great mind/member of gt planet has learned/shared how colored text is entered. I remember the icons of a few manufacturers etc. on gt sport lobby intros and such.

(I went into a foriegn lobby with colored title. I ran a race with them to establish a friendship, but im American, this was what was said )

Solved. These characters are from the Arabic keyboard when you select the Uppercase option. Letters & numbers seem to overlap them too.

Update 1.19 introduces the return of message templates and mentions that has colored text like in GT Sport. If you use a message template, the text will turn light blue, while mentions will turn orange (same color hues that are found in this thread).
1659050492198.png

In GT Sport, if any text begins with "@" followed by at least 3 characters (without spaces), that text will turn orange. Unfortunately, this does not work in GT7 and will use the default color.
1659050715707.png

Also, it seems like a lighter grey is another color you could do (if you can't read, it says "baguette"). It might be the same color as the default color for room titles though.

That is welcome news. Does a room member list exist at the room lower main screen so that we might tag drivers without typing their PSN names explicitly?
Sorry for the question, but I have not had time to GT7 this week. 😢

Thank you so much, a new format!!!
Also something important is that the numbers associated with the colors in lobby chats are different from what is used in other menus.

So far, this is the initial color list so far around that range:
Menus/Profile/Etc
Red
Green
Blue
Yellow
Grey
Black
Missing: Light Blue, Orange, Turquoise

Lobby Chat

Orange
Blue
Yellow
Turquoise
Grey
Missing: Red, Green

Edit: There are a few colors missing, it could be probably be found if I test this format with more numbers. Also, I'll keep the main post updated instead of this reply.

If you have 0 IQ, here is a video tutorial:

Another important discovery (double posting ), the "&#XXX;" format are HTML character codes that are supported in GT7! You can find the list here. GT7 is using the numeric codes from the list. The numbers used for the colors are unused, so PD must had added this functionality in the game via the free slots. If there are any new discoveries in the unused slots, the main post will be updated accordingly.
