Hey guys! This is the sequel to "The Highway Racer". This next book will simply be a continuation of the old book, but will concentrate more on Josh's journey to Professional racing. Hope you like it!

Prologue




My father came back.. I never thought he would still be alive... Yumi was amazed too. It was her first time talking to my dad, since Yumi and I were never close back when we were kids. My Dad is living back at Mt. Aso with my Mom. My sister, Athena was overjoyed, since she finally got to see dad again. Bill went back to Germany already to attend to his Mercedes Benz dealership.

My goal is to become a professional driver. I will never stop trying until I conquer my goal.​

Chapter 1: A Change.




The early sun lights up the small town of Gion. Summer is here, Josh and Yumi are eating breakfast.

"Wow Yumi! These waffles are really delicious!"

"Thank you! I found the recipe from the cooking channel."

"Well they're really good!"

"Hahaha! So whats the plan for today?"

"Well, my dad told me to go to Tsukuba. I'm going to start my training there. Wanna come with?"

"Sure! Its an open track day right? Maybe I'll bring the RX-7 today."

"Alright! My dad told me he had a car there for me already."

"What kind is it?"

"I don't know. He told me its a surprise. Whatever it is though, I hope its as fast as my GT-R."

"Oh..."

"Hey, why don't you actually make racing a career like me?"

"Hmm.... Racing isn't really my dream. Its just on the side."

"Oh..."


Breakfast ends, Josh and Yumi get in the RX-7

"Do you know where Tsukuba is?"

"Yup! Don't worry! I looked it up and got the address."

"Alright! Lets go!"


Yumi starts the RX-7. The 13B Wankel roars to life. Yumi leaves Gion in a cloud of smoke.

"Oh my god... The neighbors will probably complain that we're too noisy with our cars..."


They pass R246.

"Hah! Wait till I floor it at Tsukuba!"

"Suspension's not bad either. Your friend had it tuned well."

"To be honest, this car caught my attention when I went to Aoi's house. It was parked beside her parent's Ferraris and Lamborghinis, but I liked this car the most. So when she offered to sell it to me, I went for it."

"You have a good eye for cars!"

"Well, not really. I just liked the color. Paint a crappy car this color and I will love it. Haha!"


They finally arrive in Tsukuba. Richard is waiting, with a Skyline R33 GT-R.

"Hey dad, whats with the R33?"

"You will be driving it for your training. I see you brought a car."

"Oh, this is Yumi's car. Its an Amemiya RX-7. Its pretty fast!"

"Really? In that case, you'll go against her! You okay with that Yumi?"

"Sure! I'm not losing to this GT-R boy! See you in my rearview mirror!"

"Hah! We'll see!"



Richard rides with Josh. The RX-7 and the R33 line up.

The RB26 roars, but the tuned 13B Rotary takes the lead, and leaves the GT-R in the dust.

"Nope. Its an all-stock R33."

"WHAT!? Whats the point then?"

"In this part of your training, you will concentrate on your turning technique. You have to be able to know when and where you need to turn to achieve maximum speed out of a corner."

"Oh..... Well Yumi's leaving me in the dust.... This is embarrassing.."

"Where'd she get that RX-7 anyway?"

"From her friend."

"Even Yumi's technique is better than yours."

"Shut up! Haha!"

"Well, you're actually skilled. You learned how to bypass the infamous understeering of GT-Rs."

"I used to go Touge racing. I learned how to take corners there."

"What was your car?"

"A Honda Civic Type R. It had about 250hp before I put a turbo."

"And you tuned it yourself?"

"I had some help with the resident tuners at Mt. Aso."

"Wow.... Racing is in our blood huh?"

"Yeah... I guess so.."

"Well, her car is well tuned. This GT-R was a hand-me down from my friend who races professionally."

"I guess thats why it feels a bit worn."

"This GT-R is yours from now on. This will be the only car you can use on the track. I don't want to see your R34 here."

"What!? Why?"

"Because that R34 is a monster. You wont be able to struggle with that car. Oh, I'm taking my Hakosuka back."

"Are you serious!?"

"It is MY car right? I never gave it to you."

"Aww.... Fine..."


Josh attacks the remaining turns.

"Alright. Oh, don't tell your mom, but I want you to go back to the Touge. Start racing there again."

"Huh? Why?"

"Because you will need to master this car. The track isn't always open, so I want you to train on the mountains whenever you can."

"Alright... I'll give it a shot."

"Alright then. Your first day of training just ended. See me next week again."

"Do you guys have jobs?"

"Yeah. We work at the con-"

"Well... Actually.. We got fired."

"WHAT!? Why?"

"Because we're always late. Sorry I didn't get to tell you.."

"Crap... I guess we don't have work.."

"Well, if you guys need jobs, work at my tuning garage."

"You have a tuning garage!?"

"Yes. Martini Works. Its at R246. Just drop by, and I'll give you guys work."

"Thank you!"

"Okay then. Thanks."


Josh and Yumi head back to Gion.

"Well, we now know that I'm the better driver! Maybe I should be the one racing!"

"Haha! Once I tune the R33, I'm leaving your sorry RX-7 in the dirt!"

"You wish!"

Josh turns the TV on. The famous TV show, Best Version is showing.

"Hey! Best Version is showing!"

Good evening and welcome to Best Version! I'm Takumi Tsuchiya and this is my partner, Kenta Taniguchi!



Kenta: Yes! Good evening!

Takumi: Tonight, we talk about the Skyline GT-R! Kenta, do you own a Skyline?

Kenta: Yes actually! I currently own the R32. I brought it here today!

Takumi: Okay! Well, our guest brought their own Skyline today. Let's see how she handles against Kenta's R32!

Takumi: Our car here today is the MINE'S Skyline R34. Tell me more about MINE'S latest project, Mr. Yamamoto.

Yamamoto: Well, what we have here today, is a Skyline R34 fitted with the best MINE'S parts to perform well on the track. It has 591hp, and it is tuned to give the best engine response in any situation. We don't usually work on engine internals, but we made an exception for this car.

Takumi: Okay! Let's see Kenta's R32!

Takumi: Alright then! Lets get started on the road test!

Takumi: As expected, the MINE'S R34 is giving outstanding engine response in corners! Kenta's R32 can't keep up!

Takumi: MINE'S really knows how to tune the R34. This car is so fast, it can make a dead man scream!

Kenta: Nope... My R32 can't keep up! Time for an overhaul I guess!

Takumi: And the MINE'S R34 finishes with a time just under 57 seconds! What a lap!

Kenta: We conclude that the MINE'S R34 is one of the best GT-R's we've ever driven! Its incredible engine response in corners is very impressive. Makes me wish my R32 could handle like that.

"Ah.... The classic sound of carburetors. Brings me back to when I was just a teenager. Racing on the highway."

Richard's phone rings.

"Hello?"

"Hello Richard. Remember me?"

"Wait... I know that voice.."

"Tenji Tsuchiya?"

"Good! I find it flattering that you remember your rival."

"Wow... After all these years huh? You still can't accept the fact that your Celica couldn't beat my Hakosuka. Come on. Its been more than 30 years."

"Oh don't worry. Its not about that. I heard your son was a legend on the Wangan."

"My son? What do you want from him?"

"Relax Richard. I just wanted to tell you my son was looking forward to racing your boy."

"Why? Are you planning to revive the rivalry?"

"Not really. I just want to see if your son can drive. So, you think he'll be interested?"

"Hah! Don't worry. He'll race you. Where?"

"At Trial Mountain. Tomorrow night. Tell him to bring his best car, since Takumi will give him a run for his money."

"Make sure your son can actually drive. Haha! I'm looking forward to it."

"Alright then Richard. See you tomor-"

"*click* Hah! I ain't listening to this guy anymore! Preparations need to be made."


Richard calls his friend, Hoshino.

"*click* Hello?"

"Hoshino! How are you?"

"I'm good. Why?"

"Do you still have those Phantom R's for sale?"

"Yes actually. I have one left. Why? You purchasing it?"

"Yes please. How much is that?"

"I could cut you a deal. Hows 7 million yen?"

"Perfect. Can you bring it at Trial Mt. Tomorrow morning? I'm gonna tune it there."

"Alright. Why do you need one anyway? Its been a long time since you've asked me for one of my cars."

"I need it for a street race."

"You do know my cars are very hard to control right?"

"Don't worry. A bit of tuning will fix it."

"Alright then. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye. *click*"



"Tenji's son must be very talented. I raced Tenji back when I still had my Trueno. I almost lost."

"Now, I bet his son is as good as him. Maybe even better."

"They went to Italy actually. Harumi wanted to show Elcid their family's farm."

"I'm gonna get ready for bed! See you upstairs!"

"*writing* Gonna go to Shino Speed. Gonna be back in time for breakfast.

Josh gets in the R33. He puts his foot on the clutch, and starts the engine. The merciless growl of the RB26 scares crows away.

Josh arrives in Shino Speed. Mr. Tatsumi is waiting for him in the garage.

"Hi Mr. Tatsumi!"

"Hello Josh. Its a bit early don't you think?"

"Well, I wanted to have it ready by today, because I was gonna take Yumi out for a ride."

"*sigh* Always the sweet one huh?"

"I guess you could say that.. What parts are available for the R33?"

"Well, we have Turbos, Exhaust, ECUs, suspension sets, we have a lot! Take your pick!"

"What MINE'S parts do you have?"

"We have a HYPER RESPONSE complete engine, complete with stage 3 cams, high compression pistons, a new crank. We also have

Turbo kits and diffrentials. We have a complete MINE'S tuning package too."

"Alright! Can I have the MINE'S package?"

"Okay. That'll be 1,700,000 yen."

"Here. Oh, do you do repaints also?"

"Yes we do! What color do you plan on repainting it?"

"A nice blue. Like the LM Edition."

"Alright! Do you want to go around the track with our company car while you wait?"

"You have a company car? Sure! What kind is it?"

"It is a Honda NSX. Here are the keys. I'll just call you when your car is done. Have fun!"

"Alright!"



Josh gets in the NSX.

Josh puts it in neutral, and starts the engine. The C32 engine roars.

"Back to VTEC power huh? Let's see how she handles!"

Josh floors it. The 3.2L VTEC reaches above 9000rpms.

"Let's see how good the suspension is set up."

The NSX attacks the corners.

"Alright! I'm pulling into the pits."


Josh parks the NSX. He sees the R33 gleaming in a shade of blue.

"Haha! Careful with the paint! Its still a bit soft!"

"Don't worry I'll be careful!"

"Alright then! Well, I better go. I have to take care of some stuff."

"Sure! Thank you Mr. Shino!"



Josh starts the MINE'S HYPER RESPONSE RB26 unit.

"Oh my god.... The sound of pure power.... Whats the output?"

"About 500hp. Raising the boost would make it around 600, but I didnt want to sacrifice engine response."

"Alright sir! Thank you!"


Josh leaves. He makes his way to Trial Mountain.

Suddenly, a car appears behind the R33.

Hoshino enters a code on his laptop.


"Alright. Lets go!"


They race. Josh can hear the deep roar of the R35's VR38DETT engine breathing down on his neck.

"Really? I should tell Josh to tune the R33 like that. I like the blue color too."


"But, I'm sorry. The R35 can outshine any other GT-R in the world. Goodbye R33!"



Richard passes Josh.

Josh arrives at Gion. Yumi is downstairs making breakfast.

"Hey! You're up!"

"Yup! Oh, I got your note. How was Shino Speed?"

"I had the R33 tuned and repainted."

"Repainted? To what color?"

"Blue. Like the LM version."

"Wow... So we have 3 blue cars? Copycat!"

"Blue looks better on my car anyway!"

"Whatever! Haha!"

"Wanna go for a ride? I want to show you how good this R33 is!"

"Sure!"

Josh and Yumi get in the R33. The boost gauges light up as Josh turns the key to ignition. The key clicks and the sound of the RB26 lets out a demonic growl.


"No doubt its different. The sound is much heavier than before."

"I had the engine changed. Its a MINE'S unit. 500 horsepower."

"Woah. Like the one on TV?"

"Yup!"


Josh puts the R33 into first gear and accelerates. They make their way to R246.

"Floor it!"

"Okay!"

Josh puts his foot down. The RB26 combined with Nissan's ATTESA System give the R33 incredible stability.

"Look at your speedometer. We're already past the maximum speed!"

"Damn..."

"I guess you can beat my RX-7 now.."

"I don't think so. Your car is much lighter than mine, plus your technique is superb!"

"Hey... I want to tell you som-"

Josh's phone rings.

"Oh, excuse me, *click* Hello?"

"Josh, I will pick you up at your house."

"What? Why? I'm out with Yumi."

"It's important."

"Fine. I'll go home. *click*"

Josh parks the R33 at Gion. Soon after, Richard arrives in a red R35.

"What the.... What is this!?"

"Its an R35 tuned by my friend. Its called the Phantom R."

"I saw something like this on Trial Mt. awhile ago. I had the R33 tuned and i went for a drive."

"Wait, you mean you were the one in the blue R33?"

"Yeah. Wait, you were there too?"

"Yes. I was driving this."

"Oh."

"Alright, we have to go to Trial Mt. You're gonna battle someone."

"Who?"

"I'll tell you in the car. Let's go."

"Wait, I want to drive the R33."

"Your R33 might not have a chance."

"So? I'm driving right? You interrupted my date too. My car or no race."

"Fine. Stubborn kid."

"I know his son. I raced him before. He wasn't that skilled actually."

"I think he improved his technique. Don't let your guard down."

At the starting point, a MINE'S R34 is parked. Tenji and Takumi are sitting on the bonnet. Josh parks the R33, after which he and
Richard step out of the car.

"So this is your son? Looks just like you. I wonder if his technique is the same."

"Not really. Our techniques are very different."

Josh goes to Takumi and extends his hand out.

"Hi. My name is Joshua Takeshi."

"My name is Takumi Tsuchiya. Nice to meet you."

"We've met before right? You used to drive an Integra?"

"Right. How did you know?"

"We battled before. I was driving a red Honda Civic Type R. We battled at eiger?"

"Oh... I can assure you that the outcome of this battle won't be the same as the one at Eiger."

"Let's race."

The drivers get into their cars. The silence is broken with two Skylines revving like crazy.

"Not really. I just really wanna learn something. Winning is just a bonus for me. I can't believe he brought a MINE'S Skyline."

They floor it. The sound of Japanese muscle echoes throughout the mountain.

"The gutters? If you noticed, his R34's ride height is very low. This R33's ground clearance is higher."

"Oh right! I was completely focused on his car, I forgot there were gutters..."

"The best place to attack is at the huge turn after the tunnel..."

Meanwhile, at Gion, a Mercedes SL55 AMG is parked in front of Josh's house. A man inside the car is talking on the phone.

"Yes miss. I can see the target. Do you want me to attack now?"

"Yes. Bring her to the warehouse. I will arrive shortly. Oh and Daigo,"

"Yes?"

"Destroy the R34."

"Brake late on the inside. His R34 will have problems stopping because of its weight, I'm guessing he'll leave the inside
open. Just make this R33 dive inside, then we have him."

Josh aims for the gutter.

"Proceeding with the plan now boss."

"Ok."

Daigo breaks the front door of the house. He sees Yumi running outside the back door.

"Dammit. She must not get away."

He chases her.

"What the hell is happeni- oof!"

"I got you!"

Daigo grabs Yumi and puts her in the Mercedes.

"Who the hell are you!?"

"I'm just doing my job."

Daigo grabs a baseball bat out of his trunk.

"Its a damn shame this GT-R is gonna get ruined."

Daigo smashes the R34's windshield. He hits the bumper, the wheels, the spoiler and the hood as if it were a pinata. Yumi is forced to
watch the R34 crumble into pieces.

"Oh no.... *sob*"

"There we go... That should piss him off.. "

Daigo gets into the Mercedes, and leaves Gion.

"Mission accomplished boss."

"Good. Rendezvous at the warehouse."

"Let's go GT-R!"

Josh presses too much on the throttle. He yanks the handbrake sending the car drifting throughout the whole corner.

"No... Something's wrong. I think we need to go home."


Josh puts on the hazard lights and stops at the side of the road.

Josh arrives at Gion. He instantly sees the R34's wrecked exterior.


"What the.... My GT-R... The house's front door is broken. Wait, YUMI!"

"What the hell happened here?"


Josh runs inside the house to look for Yumi.

"YUMI? YUMI! Where are you!?"



Meanwhile, Richard inspects the scene.

"Weird. The only thing ruined is the R34. Not even the other cars are scratched."

"Whoever did this, was really after my son.."


Josh steps out of the house.






"Dad... "




"Yumi's gone."

Hey guys, im sorry for the HUGE delay. My ps3's bluray drive conked out and I had to buy a new ps3. No worries though, another chapter is in the works and my save file is still intact, so expect a new chapter. :)
