Please read this post through properly, and check your settings are correct.
Standard OLR Rules apply
Try to keep 2 wheels on track at all times in the race (Rumble strips are classed as track)
No wall contact, no cheating, no hybrids etc, etc
AI contact is allowed, but NO penalties are allowed
Always stay within the 'spirit' of the rules

Track Specific Rules:
Occasional ‘Offs’, are inevitable during a race of this length.
As long as you don’t gain time by them, and don’t incur a penalty, they are not a reason for binning a race.
BUT, constantly using the tarmac area outside of 130R to go through the corner at max speed,
or cutting into the coloured areas inside of the corners with 4 wheels,
is not considered to be within the spirit of the rules, so please don’t do it except when you make a mistake.

Duration:
Starts: Friday 13th July. Ends: Sunday 22nd July @ 21.00 GMT
Therefore you have 2 weekends to complete both qualifying and the race.
Please PM your qualifying / Race time & fastest lap-time for your chosen car to myself (Tyre King) before the deadline. (Format at bottom of page)

We will try this time-scale format out for this race, see how you guys like it, and see how it works for us too!

Final Words:
This is an 'Honour-system' series, and we expect you to have some.
Any 'suspect' times will investigated, and the driver may be asked for proof of his times.
You are free, in-fact actively encouraged, to discuss split times but NOT lap times in qualifying, and you can discuss fastest lap times in the race, just not your final times.
You are also encouraged to give details on tyre-wear, handling, and anything else relating to the cars.

But above all, have fun.

Any problems, just PM either myself or Phil and we will sort it ASAP.
However, over this weekend please direct any questions to Phil ( ERacer ), as I will be away till Monday from Friday early pm.

Let's have at it! 👍

Results for Round 1

I have revised the points system, to the following:
Race:
1st = 10pts
2nd = 9pts
3rd = 8pts
4th = 7pts
5th = 6pts
6th = 5pts
7th = 4pts
8th = 3pts
9th = 2pts
10th= 1pt
Quali:
1st = 3pts
2nd = 2pts
3rd = 1pt
Fastest lap:
1st = 3pts
2nd = 2pts
3rd = 1pt
This means that EVERYONE gets points every week! 👍

SO, this is how we finished after race one!

Well done to RACECAR for the clean sweep, and congrat's to Avery GT for the 2nd place in the race.
(think we are going to have to hog-tie RACECAR if he keeps on like this!:lol: )

There will be NO weight/power penalties awarded for race positions etc for this race or the next. BUT, they will occur for race 3 onwards.

Yes, the schedule will be the same, however the race lengths may be adjusted slightly.

You never know? (WhaaaHaHaHa!)

The car stat's have been adjusted as per your/ERacer's recommendations from last test sesh.

That's all I'm giving away at the minute!

Neil

Hey I am driving 787B! Not a Toyota 👍 woo..so excited about the start of the series

Hey guys, just thought I'd pop in and see how things are going. Seems like it's all going great! The hand over of power looks like it's went off without a hitch :lol:

Good luck with the series everyone! :)👍

Race is on guys!

Details up in first post, please read carefully as there are some changes to the last test's settings (thanks to ERacer and Del for their exhaustive testing:tup: :cheers: )
Also, there are some 'unusual' rules!

Have fun!👍

Neil

Del likes your 'unusual rules' .. it'll make the racing very tight 👍

''Tyres : RM/RM or RS/RS .. You must use BOTH compounds at least once in the race 👍 ... You MUST have matched tyre compounds front and back'':indiff: .... Qualifying RSS 👍

Off topic : I'm all for Hamilton to win all he can .. but believe the title will go down to the wire ; FA and KR will be stronger for the 2nd half of the season . Hamilton will be smart enough to keep on bagging as many points possible and take the win if/when the opportunity rises .

Well, I'll tell ya. I thought long and hard about the tyre rules, especially on how to bring in a new 'twist' to the std rules and how to bring about closer racing.
I'd been watching the GP's (stopped doing so years ago, when it got boring - read Schumacher) and thought that the 'having to use both hard and soft tyres' rule was good!
Then, I thought that implementing the same rule would be easy, but that 'some' of us are better at preserving tyres than others ( :sly: ) And would start mixing RS fronts with RM rears, use that combo all race, still be within the rules, and be dominant.
And this is my solution!
The better grip of the softs is negated by the rapid wear rate, and vica versa (yes the spelling is correct, I looked it up coz the in-line spell checker of firefox told me it wasn't :lol: )
And the rule was loop-hole free.

These cars are too front-end grippy, and too powerful, to be fun on mixed tyres anyway. They just pirouette for fun round any, fast-ish corner as soon as you touch the throttle.

I'll update the entry list when I get a chance (prob tomoz pm)

Neil

Hey Neil , Del was so happy when MS retired .. now F1 can be interesting again .. he choked the sport .

Privateer Racing initial race report.

Where'd my rear tires go? what the heck happened to TCS? I think Neil was right. If you look at the accelerator cross-eyed, you spin out! WAY too much power.

Is it an option to turn DOWN the power, as long as you don't go over the HP limit?

Anyway. Qualifying was an adventure. Driving the S2000 in GTPLMS and then jumping into the 905 was something else. Had to learn that this thing takes a small miracle to shift gears, has the acceleration of a frightened cat, and is so light it flies over most bumps. But finally laid down a lap that i'm comfortable with. My biggest hurdle was to not brake or lift going around Last heading to Casio Triangle.

The race was interesting. Neil, i don't like the tire rule...mainly because of what it is designed to do...create strategy. Ran 2 races, the 2nd one with a correct tire strategy. 3 stopper with a fairly quick best-lap...but that's a secret. there's still time out there, but doubtful there'll be time.

Anyway, I'll probably be sending my times to Neil tomorrow. Good luck all.

c

haven't turned a wheel yet. My car got caught in customs...

Managed a decent quali run in the Jag and will most likely settle on a 3-stopper using 3xRS and 1xRM.

Suzuka has always been a challenge for me, so I tried going a bit slower in the first set of turns/esses and my time actually improved! I guess less time on the brakes = more time moving forward faster. Or something like that :D

ERacer

Del is having a tough time getting more than 4 decent laps out of RM's

I'm getting 4 out of RS tyres, and 6ish out of mediums.

Must be going too slow!

Neil

Now I'm up to speed, I have 3 laps out of soft rears, and 5 laps out of mediums.

Only had one time in so far, and I am looking forward to getting loads of nice PM's tomorrow. :)

Weekend is full of sport again!
Golf, F1, Porche cups, Moto GP, World superbikes and British superbikes!

On a more serious, and sad subject.

My personal condolences go to the family of young Ollie Bridewell who was, very sadly, fatally injured yesterday whilst practicing at Mallory Park for the British Superbike races on Sunday.
I met him last weekend at Oulton Park's meeting, and he was a very pleasant, natural, approachable, and talented young man, who had great things ahead of him.
He will be VERY sorely missed!
:(
Neil

Oh boy. I've had a budy weekend so a qualifying is very likely, but I'm a little doubtful race will even be attempted much less done.

OK!
Starting to get worried!

Less than half an hour to go till deadline, and only 3 times in so far (including mine!)

Come on guys!

Neil

Well and my goal was to finish in top 3 in the race :crazy: . It looks good for me!

Ok, now seriously...where did everyone go? As far as I know, azevedojose was really busy (exams this week!), and my other teammate was inactive here last days. Don't know about other guys...but 3 times in...that's poor competition.

Right! I am going to extend the deadline, just this once!

The new deadline is MIDNIGHT (00.00) GMT

That gives those of you who haven't read the deadline correctly, or just couldn't be arsed to send a PM in the afternoon, an extra 3 hours to get them sent to me.

I have to say that I am rather peeved at this time.:grumpy:
I'll get the results up in the morning, instead of tonight (as I had planned on doing) because that will be 01.00 in the morning for me.

Neil

As of this post, I'm doing mine right now. I will Send times in as soon as possible.

Edit: Times have been sent.

Sorry, I couldn't participate in this race, so I'm dropping this series, because I don't have time to commit to it. I haven't played GT4 for a long time, except to do the races of the series I'm participating at the moment. My apologies to the series organization and also to my team mates :(

Sorry to see you go. But as regretable as it is, I do understand. This stuff takes time and effort and it's all about putting in the best effort you can within a limited time. Best of luck and please look for us next season if you can. 👍

ERacer

and speaking of time ..... I have to apologise to my co-administrator of this series, Neil, and to my fellow racers. I have just sent in my times - times which I had produced earlier this week, but held onto with the intent of improving upon them.

But today, I had a serious personal issue which distracted me and I simply now have submitted what I have. My apologies for the late submission.

ERacer

Aw, no problem! I hope you are OK now.

I am sad to see azevedojose go! :indiff: I am worried what's with gouzou as he was inactive last days here. Am I scarring off my teammates? :sick: Same goes to DTM Season 2...

Thanks for the submissions I have got.

No pens for late submissions this week, I understand about RL problems etc.

Results will go up in post #2 later today.

Neil

Sorry lads, I had some problems with keeping all my various schedules straight for the past week or so...Had a soccer tourney semi-final games on Sunday. I scored one and had two assists. Unfortunately one of the assists was for the other team:( we lost and ended up third overall.

But, I will race the next round.

The results are up, in post #2!

It's a pity that only 6 entries were sent, but I understand that RL gets in the way sometimes.

I look forward to a stronger response for race 2! 👍

Neil
