Please PM your qualifying / Race time & fastest lap-time for your chosen car to myself (Tyre King) before the deadline. (Format at bottom of page)

Final Words:
You are free, in-fact actively encouraged, to discuss split times but NOT lap times in qualifying, and you can discuss fastest lap times in the race, just not your final times.
You are also encouraged to give details on tyre-wear, handling, and anything else relating to the cars.

But above all, have fun.

Any problems, just PM either myself or Phil and we will sort it ASAP.
However, over this weekend please direct any questions to Phil ( ERacer ), as I will be away till Monday from Friday early pm.

I am going to be working quite hard over the next couple of days to try to get the Jaguar to be competitive on tyre wear whilst keeping the speed up. Also there may be a 'small' tweak for the Sauber too.

Congrat's go to Chris (ICallShotgun), Marek (Avery GT), Camyron (RACECAR) for their podium places in the various categories. 👍
And well done to all who competed! 👍

Neil

I'll be running this one for sure 👍

Apricot Hill is the best original track in GT4 because they destroyed Grand Valley and Midfield by changing them

Haha, I drove Apricot Hill last week for DTM race. I am gonna do this when I am back from camp (in 10 days?)...

CRAP!. Why this race is only one week long? Why? :indiff: Dude, I am comfortable with 2 week race. Now I have to race it today...excellent. I have to master the track, do great qualifying, do flawless race...

This is a fri/sat/sun/mon/tues/wed/thu/fri/sat/sun race week just like the last one (and all the rest) lol!

That's 10 days of racing time.
Sorry Avery, you're just gonna have to suck it up! :sly:

Oh, and could EVERYONE note,
The tyres to use in the race this time are RM's and RH's, NOT RS's and RM's!

And yes, I agree, this is definately one of the best tracks (original or otherwise) in the GT series.
When I first got GT4 and then upgraded to using a wheel, I used this track to compare my times from GT3 with. This one and Seattle reverse (I think, the same way as the Ford GT40 license test) hold a special place in my heart.

Yeah well, there won't be so much problems and off-tracks and nerves as ****ing Suzuka (God, i hate that track :ouch:) and I just completed my first run. Gonnna tweak the strategy and do a final run (hopefully). So it's good 👍

My best lap was 1'05.016, but I can do better..

Neil,

I got a big laugh out of the animated character pointing out the race deadline! :D How do you do that? No late submissions from me this time 👍

Good luck all!

To be absolutely honest, I saw it in one of the posts on Demonoid (which I frequent often, and am one of the lucky members of) and just right-click/copied out of the post.
It obviously did it's job, and caught my eye. So I thought it would work on the rest of us the same.

Sorry to disappoint ya buddy, only starting to get to grips with animation-shop so it's not my own work. But I'm learning!
Did my own 'Tar with it a while back though.

How's everyone doin this race?

Neil

Neil,

Just want to clarify the deadline. Sunday, August 5th at 00:00 GMT = Saturday, August 4th at 8:00PM on the East Coast in the USA. At least according to the handy World Clock - Time Zones converter :D

I'm thinking the deadline was meant for sometime Sunday evening, your time. Just wanted everyone to be on the same time 👍

Phil

Team Red Rock Racin has finished with Apricot .. Del left { with 2 of his all blond girl pitt crew } the circuit early yesterday morning after completing over 90 laps ..

OK! SMART-ARSE!:)

If you want to be pedantic!
The time of 00:00 hrs Sunday 5th August 2007 DOES NOT ACTUALLY EXIST!
(At least where the military are concerned anyway!)

The time you are looking for is 23:59.999 GMT Sunday the 5th August 2007, which is 00:59.999 Monday the 6th August BST (British Summer Time), or 18:59.999 CST & 19:59.999 EST Sunday the 5th August 2007!
BTW
The next time available in military parlonce, is 00:01.001 Monday 6th August 2007.

And.......

Did you know, that it is possible to kill some-one on military property, between the times of 23:59.999 & 00:01.001, and not be guilty of a crime?

Strange but true!

I hope No one takes that advice because if they do...

The Terrorists have won.

Anyhow, I'm having an great run around Apricot Hill Raceway. The car feels so much better around here and I can be a lot more Competitive now then I could at Suzuka.

2hrs & 40 mins till deadline and only 4 sets of results so far (including mine)

Come on guys, get that racing done, and get your times in!

Results will go up in the morning.

Neil

Congratulations to the podium finishers

Considering this race covered 26 laps, I feel the top times are very close! Well done all who entered this race 👍

Neil, I agree perhaps the Jag needs a bit more tuning to be more competitive. The other cars seem to be very closely matched, which I'm very happy to see.
The Jag is currently set at (+4) HP and (-2) Kg. I'm going to test at (+3)HP and (-3)Kg. I think a bit less torque and less weight would make for less tire wear and perhaps better handling.

Phil,
I would try even lower figures than that mate, tyre-wear's the problem.
The only way to solve it is to reduce the torque, as you rightly state. I am going to try +2 power and -4 weight, running round Apricot again, and see if I can get 12 laps out of hards and 7 laps out of mediums.

I'll let you know, in this thread.

Neil

Right!

I have just done a 30'20.xxx full race in the Jag.

Hp set to 914hp (+0)
KG set to 840Kg (-6)
12 laps on hards
7+7 laps on mediums.

I know this is a MAJOR departure from the std settings, but it is the only set I have been satisfied with as far as pace AND tyre-wear are concerned.

Also the Sauber is now set to 908Hp (-2) and 901Kg (+1), as tyre-wear was again excessive in the main race.

Any body else having problems getting 12 & 7 laps @ Apricot, PLEASE tell me!
Phil and I will look into adjusting settings accordingly.

Neil

BTW guys!

There is a change of venue for the next round!

It will NOT be held at Grand Valley as billed.
There was a dispute with the track management.
They felt it was inappropriate to have two championships (GTPLMS & this series) running at the track at the same time.

So, we will be running the next round at what I consider one of the most interestingly technical, and underrated tracks in the list.
One that is VERY rarely used in these series, if ever!

Any guesses?:)

Round 10: JSPC Memorial Enduro - Fuji 90's - 100km(23 laps)

Oops! My bad!:guilty:

Should have said "in the game" not in the list!

It's not in the track list that Nitro set up, it's not a city track, and it's (obviously) not a dirt/snow track.

It is however a very technically demanding track, as far as lines goes, but it quite relaxing to drive once you get into the zone.

Neil

Hmmm .... could it be Autumn Ring?

Good guess! Yup, Autumn Ring is the one!👍

I thought about Monaco, and some of the other city tracks or maybe El Cap, but on reflection they all get done to death.
So plumped for the least used track I knew of.

What do you think?

Neil

Hmmm, a rather interesting choice in venue. I just have a feeling the could be a lot of frustraition(though I doubt it won't be as bad here as it might be at the Nurburgring later on)on this very short track.

Oh, yeah!! Autumn Ring has it all: off camber turns, hairpins, esses, elevation changes, a decent straight-away. It's fun watching the action unfold as you catch up with the AI's and then watch them slide off course right in front of you, bouncing onto the grass into a cloud of dust. Must be careful not to look too long - must focus - otherwise it'll be your turn to go sideways into the walls.

But, like you said, once you're in the zone it's a nice autumn drive. Although, I will be keeping both hands on the wheel :)

Excellent choice 👍 Might have to ask my crew to punch out a window so I may enjoy the fresh air.

It's not going to be the mini course, it's the full one which is 1.83 miles/2.928 Km long.
Takes 1:05-07 to get round it on mediums, so it's maybe a 'little' shorter than deep forest.

We'll be going clockwise!
