Most definitely signed.

Plus, I forwarded on Stephen Fry's Dutch language petition to some Dutch mylebrities whom I follow. Might get some more exposure...

As much as I want that to happen (I even signed it when I first saw it), it won't. Vancouver's still in debt from the 2010 Olympics, and they won't have enough time to get all the facilities/services/accommodation ready in less than a year.

Heat map shows where Homophobic tweets come from in the US.

I'm not sure what exactly to take away from this, I get mixed up between states. Is this result a surprise or expected?

Edit: I should issue an offensive language warning with this one.

Interesting map, however it doesn't take into account population, because the states that are virtually unmarked have the lowest population densities, the red spots are all around major cities.

Which is not quite the same as being punished for merely being a homosexual, as happens in Russia, Qatar and the seven countries which still punish homosexuality with a death sentence; Iran; Mauritania; Saudi Arabia; Sudan; United Arab Emirates; Yemen; Nigeria.

As FK noted, we're not dealing with apples and apples. I firmly stand behind a boycott/relocation of the Winter Olympics. And the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix; which is rubbish anyway.

The official position of Yemen is that there are no homosexuals in Yemen. I mean, come on...

Then I reiterate my point from earlier. Where do you draw the line? In the U.S. homosexuals are not treated equally in most states in terms of marriage and the rights that go with it. Do we boycott an American Olympics too? What's the deciding factor to boycott or not? How much is gained by openly homosexual athletes participating in the games and making statements while they are there, defying the Russian government? How much is gained by all nations getting behind a statement like, "We disagree with your stance on homosexual rights but the Olympics are about athletes not politics, we are sending our gay athletes and you damn well better not mess with them, f u Russia"??

I draw the line when gay people are arrested for being gay, and demonstrations of gayness (if you will) are criminalized.

I agree with this. % per population with Twitter would be much more relevant.

I agree to some extent. Retaliation with an iron fist will not stymie ruling with an iron fist. Therefore I would not support a boycott. However f.u. statements would resound positively with the liberated world and negatively in the antiquated world, and do little, or nothing, or negatively impact the cause.

The thing that reaches the haters is to realise that the hated are actually not so different after all. So, as silly as it may sound, the best thing that could happen is for an openly gay guy to compete in the most "manly" event and blitz the competition. His actions would be his statement. No rainbow flag waving, no snide remarks, just a clear intent to achieve in the same way as any other person may seek to achieve.

But, besides, why can't they do without those gay prides? Why don't we need any "straight prides"?

People have straight prides all the time. It's straight pride when you a guy and a girl hold hands or kiss in public. It's straight pride when you put a picture of your opposite sex partner on your desk at work. It's straight pride if you're married and you wear a wedding ring in a country that only tolerates heterosexual marriages.

Straight pride is there, every day. It's just so common that you don't notice it anymore.

If a person keeps getting penalised, what's the reason of making it even worse?
And if the LGBT community does not get a permission for a gay pride (as it always happens), why do they still organize unauthorized meetings if they know they're going to be taken for a ride on police vans? Probably to attract attention with the hard way...

Martin Luther King Jr. kept being penalized and arrested for non-violently protesting the treatment of blacks in the US. Should he have just rolled over and not have protested?

Gandhi kept being arrested for his non-violent protests and civil disobedience against the British. Should he have just rolled over and not have protested?

Would you extend this philosophy into your personal life? Would you refuse to buy products from Russia for example?

But gas-hose-on-exhaust-pipesexuals might indoctrinate our kids with their propaganda!

So I came across the YouTube channel "FCKH8" (Not trying to bypass the swear filter that's just the name of their channel/website) and some of their videos, here's some of their most obnoxious ones I saw.

**Strong Language Warnings**

I'll link as some of the embedding thumbnail contains a swear word.

Just curious to see what some gay GTPlanet members think of them if you have heard of them before.

Do you agree with what they are doing and they way they are doing it? Or do you think they are giving the LGBT community a bad name by doing this.

From what I gathered from their videos and website;

For a group that calls themselves "FCKH8" who want to get rid of hate towards gays, they sure do have a lot of hate for those that disagree with them.
They like to swear... A lot.
They seem more interested in being obnoxious and loud than educational.
Their website seems more interested in making $$$ by selling T-Shirts than spreading any kind of equality message.

I'm just happy that most LGBT equality groups/movements don't act like they do, as if they did it would certainly persuade me to be very much against them.

I got a minute into the first video and then stopped. I'm not watching the other videos. The description is probably the worst part, they think they're being funny...

The top comments on the first video sum up my thoughts pretty well.

Way too much hatred; it's pretty hypocritical. They hate people who hate on the people they don't want people to hate on.

I'm all for equality and acceptance and what-not (being gay myself) but they took it too far with those videos, IMO.

I didn't make it past the 15 second mark before I was offended. It's too much foul language for me. No one needs that, (IMO) it's not funny!

I watched a couple partway and found them unimaginative and unentertaining. Do I agree with what they are doing and how they are doing it? To me what they are doing is trying to make money on a Youtube Channel by making stupid outrageous videos and getting as many hits as possible to draw advertisers and sell product, the same thing most people on the web are trying to do. Free enterprise at work, but they aren't to me in any way creative or intriguing so they don't get my attention.

Interesting little twist...

So now being gay means you're in some way physiologically different? Way to go, Russia. Honestly, why are they so scared?

Bloody hell, burning LGBT hearts? They're not vampires, FFS.

Some Russian bloggers have sent a claim to the Investigative Commitee and the General Attorney's office to charge Kiselev with the article 282 (extremism), which provides up to 5 years of imprisonment.
However, I doubt something like that will happen. MVD "haven't found any offence" in the Kiselev's speech.

Looks like they're trying to give the Soviet Union another go.
Soviet Union was not about homophobia only ;)
I've already told: capitalism is here, but the mentality of most adult people is still the same.
