I've never locked up the wheels on the X1's, somehow I don't think ABS is even needed on these.

Because the X2010 produces so much down force, it pushes it into the ground, forcing it to continue rolling when the brakes have locked up.

Does anyone remember the N64 game Star Wars Pod Racer? Friends of mine and I race the X1 at Nurb to flashback to that game. It's several minutes of white-knuckle terror, but it's amazing how well you can control it when you get in 'the zone'.

... with the wheel, that is. I'm sure it's doable with the DS3, but I'm not going to try it. I may be insane, but I'm not crazy.

I will proudly join this group.

I can't drive the X2010 or X2011. The handling is too twitchy (and unrealistic). The steering is too quick, too......... weird.

Or at least it is for my rather basic skills anyway. I also suck at F1 so maybe that says something more about me (I would say I don't spend any time practicing F1 though) Luckily in a game like Gran Turismo there's so much more fun to be had elsewhere.

I can't handle it either, Its a stupid car and I'm too lazy to bother going around a corner at a million miles per hour, Rather just pilot an F40 or something around the ring for fun.

I've just found out something very interesting: On Indy, when going around a corner at 280 MPH, the lateral g-force is such that if you lift entirely off the throttle and continue turning, the throttle will stay partially open, because the g-force messes with the car. Unless there is another explanation.

I got bored of pretending my X2010 was a sand buggy on Suzuka and opted for the FGT to speed through the Suzuka 1000km endurance. I'm still pretty dreadful with the FGT, averaging 1:45 lap times and a fair bit of off-roading. I'm not looking forward to when the rain starts.

I still don't get how some people have mastered the X2010 whilst others, such as myself, can't complete a single 'clean' lap. I think I'm just not precise enough; I tend to be a pretty aggressive driver and am better suited to road cars that I can hurl around corners.

The X1 is no different than any other car, just more extreme. Try jumping from a GT500 car on RS tires into an NSX on Comfort Hards and the transition is just as difficult. What it takes is time and commitment..aka practice..to sharpen your reflexes and build the muscle and visual memory needed to get the car around a given circuit fast and to find the limits of the car, which are considerable. It's not something you are going to do in 10 or 15 minutes.

Pretty much, most of driving the X201X series is sheer muscle & visual memory. After a while driving it is a lot like driving a normal road car. You take similar lines, just with the X201X you don't lift off or you're on the brakes for a far shorter amount of time.

I think the partial throttle is so that you do not get sudden lift-off oversteer; anyone playing GT5P would know that lifting completely off the throttle would kill all of the downforce grip you get, regardless of the speed. It seems to have been fixed for all of the cars, though.

Auto throttle is something all of the Formula cars have in the game. Just to make sure you don't lose too much speed and grip.

I can handle the X2010 and 2011 decently using a DS3 but I am trying to train myself to use its manual transmission. I already did one of the harder feats of running the 24H Ring using a manual transmission but I am so afraid of shifting wrong with this car because when it is out of gear it literally sounds like "you idiot, I don't go that way try again!"
