I finally finished a tour of downloading lots of racing demos over the past few days. Even more recently I finished a tour of deleting all those demos. Its strange but I cant bear to have that junk sitting there when its clearly not up to scratch. So that leaves me right back where I started: with GT5p.

Some of you might have gone through the same thing. So in addressing you I'll paraphrase Bill Murray in the movie Stripes when he makes that speech to his fellow bootcamp victims, 'we may have come from all kinds of different places and backrounds, sure, but I want you to remember we still all have ONE thing in common: (pause) ..we were all stupid* enough to get addicted to Gt5p!' :)

*insert the word 'smart', obviously.

p.s. if you have a movie quote for your relationship with gt5p i would love to hear it

I feel the same way, I play MGS:4 and Far Cry 2, and sometimes still Gran Turismo 2. However, I feel the same like you, I just like at night, turn on my PS3 and I want to play something and I always go off to GT5:P. I don't know why, it just drags me back. lol

I couldnt live anymore without Gran Turismo, no other game can give me the feeling GT gives me. Videogaming is one of a few things i can do anymore because of several reasons (i.e. handicaps) and Gran Turismo was and will always be THE game for me.
This is also the reason why i am so thankful for Kazunori Yamauchi & Polyphony Digitals work. The whole styling and basic idea behind it fits perfectly to me.

I cant go back to GT4 or the older GTs because of the graphics, physics and cockpit of 5P though.
I tried other racing games even on PC (well since i have my 1080p monitor i can only run LFS properly on my computer lol) but nothing gives me the satisfaction, GT5 Prologue gives me.

If they can implement damage, weather and better soundeffects i wouldnt know why i even should think about other racing games anymore....

Is that on-topic? lol :D

For now , I would relate to this on playing GT4 , mainly because of the car and track selection that is offered as opposed to what Prologue is offering currently. GT4 is very addictive , thats why I still play it on a regular basis.

MY name is DaddyVDUB & I to am an addict, its been 2 hours since my last fix on GT ,& with help ,one day at a time, aaaah who am I kidding I am hopelessly addicted to GT have been for bout 10 years now. I can enjoy other games for a season but GLAD to say I'm a GT man. Even as MADDING as prouloge can be at times I keep coming back.:dunce:

I've tried playing other games, none last for long and I keep playing GT5:P again.

No matter what I play, I always come back to Gran Turismo. I just can't live without it. It's a sickness.

I'm not sure what sims you downloaded, but there are several out there that make gran turismo look bad.

Care to elaborate? I know about PC sims and what they offer...however, on a console thus far, what do you think beats GT in terms of a sim?

I always come back, too. Sometimes i really get bored of GT5P, mostly when the online events are as they are at the moment (can't stand Fuji :yuck: and Daytona is interesting for 2 laps (for me!)). But in this times i am going to take out different cars for some hotlaps, and still have fun for an hour a day.

I have bought GT Legends and rfactor for the PC, also Ferrari Challenge for the PS3, but i always come back to GT5P....dont know why, the other games offer more tracks, cars, options etc. then GT5P, but somehow i am only "in love" with GT.

I gotta agree with the OP, I have tried a pile of demos and they all got erased aside from dirt, which i might have to get just because i hate the way GT does rally. I basically only bought my ps3 for 2 games, being GT and Metal Gear Solid 4, the latter already getting boring for me, I keep finding myself shoving GT5p back in my console

PC Sims can and are better than GT in some aspects but Console Sims, No wai! GT is the only console sim I feel like sticking with, other bore me and i've tried quite a few others.

You are a troll coated troll with troll filling. And troll sprinkles on top.

You're right. Having an opinion that differs from yours makes me a troll. :sly:

To elaborate; Rfactor, Live for speed, Race07 etc in my opinion make Gran turismo look bad. There graphics are not as intensely detailed, but the physics are better. As well as the physics being more realistic, you have proper support for the high end wheels. You say no console games compete, well that may be true. But who forced you into downloading console games?

The truth is, gran turismo is still a good game, and the MAIN reason I purchased a g25 and a ps3. As far as racing simulators go though, it is NOT the best.

This has been a common misconception of a lot of Sim racing fams everywhere, and the reason for their disappointment and subsequent critisism of this series.

People buy Gran Turismo games expecting them to be a Racing Sim when PD have never made that claim, in fact on every version of Gran Turismo game that has ever existed (And I've had them all over the last 10 years) it says on the box "The Real Driving Simulator"

There's a big difference between racing and driving, for me I play Forza2 and Ferrari Challenge as they are good racing sims and the best available for each respective console but I get the "Keep comming back" factor with GT5P because I enjoy the Driving simulation aspect and the top tastic Force Feedback.

You realise that those game aren't for PS3, yes?
Also I have to say I don't like PC sims at all, they just feel and look dull to me... ( and I have a good enough computer ;) )

Oh and OT: I feel the same, always come back, the online can be awesome ! 👍

That is a weak argument, nitpicking minute details in classification. The game only offers you race tracks to drive on, and times your laps. You tune the car to better your handling and power application. Just like every other RACING sim.

I will agree that Gran Turismo is the best sim for ps3. PC sims don't focus on graphics to the extent that GT does. I also realize that this version of gt5 is merely a glorified demo. I am not knocking on Gran turismo.

As for knocking my screen name and saying I probably think need for speed pwnz gt is stupid. Look in the mirror, you guys are being gran turismo fan bois. Have you guys actually ever driven at the limits in real life? If so im not sure how you compare gt5 to the sims I mentioned above in terms of realism.

It's not a weak argument at all, it's fact. Yes in any racing sim you do the stuff you've mentioned but then you actually have to race against opponents. When you try to race properly with any GT game it gets ugly and worse with real opponents online.

As it happens I do on a regular basis and am probably one of the highest qualified people on any road to do so and legally too as I'm a Paramedic who drives on Rapid Response Cars as well as Ambulances so it's my job to get where I'm going as quickly and safely as possible as peoples lives can depend on it. On top of that I have raced in Karts and Formula Ford so have a rough idea of what I'm talking about.

This thread is about the Keep Coming Back Phenomena and I was just putting in my oppinion and the reason why I keep coming back.

It wasn't here for someone to just blast the game for not being something it has never claimed to be then critisise anyone who's oppinion differs from yours.

So how exactly do you advance in this "driving" simulator. By racing against opponents both online and off. Call it a driving sim if it real makes you feel better.

For me, the obvious focus on street cars is the dividing line between driving/racing. The tuning aspects dont change anything IMO. They are still mainly street cars of various performance levels. Not race cars.
Race cars are very very different.

The fact that GT5p puts street cars on a racing circuit doesnt transform the cars into somthing else.. any more than putting a tricycle on a race track transforms it into a race vehicle. So its valid to to call GT5p a driving sim.. or 'sports driving.'

I actually prefer something closer to RACING... but this is what we have. And I keep going back to it (which was my original point.)

This is seriously the worst place to ask about driving experience, as you will more than likely get a pile of bloated lies with nothing to back them up
