Please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly does the i-Link battle involve? Does it mean you can have two-player races on separate screens, or is it an internet thing?

As far as I know , an I-Link battle is just about hooking two PS2s using a 4-4 pin Firewire cable and have a two player race on different TVs. Its like I bring my own TV, you bring your own TV and we'll slug it out on GT3. It's NOT a internet thing/online race.

In short, just like you said, it is just a two-player race on separate screens. ;)

Correct, but you forget to mention something! You can use an iLink HUB to connect up to 6 PS2!

Which I did last Sunday. 8) Awesome stuff, check a little video here:

EDIT: don't have that much webspace so had to clean this link up, as I put up new videos occasionally for the participants. Try this one now:

http://home.planet.nl/~arum0000/spoon1.WMV

It's a 3 minute run with lots of mistakes, starting with my own, which makes it interesting to watch and also makes it quite clear there's humans driving.

EDIT: oh yeah, I should mention that the blue car isn't overtaken on purpose because this was a team race.

Arwin, what car were you using? Last time I did I-link, it didn't let me use my garage cars  .

BAD LINK

I hate that, but it does give it a much closer race, don't you think? You know, go on the test course with the calsonic and the Loctite.

Very tight. Especially when they're exactly the same. give or take the design. So yeah. Same goes for some of the stock cars (A Class).

you cant use your garage in an I-link battle and you cant watch a replay either which kinda sucks, but its still great fun with 6 humans going at it and not a stinking AI in sight!:D

Bring your friends along for an iLink battle Tecra. But I'm not so lucky ... I have about 3 friends who own PS2s, but NONE of them are even a single bit interested in GT3, or any other racing games for that matter.

They're missing out something big!

sounds great but I wouldn't fancy humping a fecking great heavy telly round to my mates house just for a game of Gt3, even if I do love it.

XX

try moving 6 of the buggers up a flight of stairs then
...including a bleeding 68cm (dont ask me in inches) that takes two of us move and we will do it again!
