well, there's a difference in obsessing over it,rather than understanding the quality and the teachings of it ^_^

The problem is that because of Initial D's realistic look (real cars, real touge tracks) people tend to obsess more about it than Gundam or Saint Seiya for example. I mean, I have a website about japanese cars, and I receive lot's of emails like: "where can I buy an 86?" or "how can I drift like Takumi from Initial D?". That really pisses me off!

I like animes, but I don't watch them for "life lessons", I watch because of the fun, the good storyline and remarcable/charismatic characters. I also like cartoons, they are fun to watch when you have nothing to do or don't want to think about anything.

The problem is that there are too many wannabees out there that live by a rule called "monkey see, monkey do". There is a good deal of information that Inital D teachs, but also there is a good deal of stuff in Initial D that could get a nOOb killed. Some people after they watch that anime, they start running their mouths too much thinking they can do it all. Then they start talking smuck about it. Watch it, Like it, Don't obsess over it like your first crush in life.

No one is really obsessing over it, obsessing over it is getting Keisuke's haircut, learning Japanese, buying all the cars and risking his life to drift like that.

Those people are just uninformed and want to be able to do something cool.

I wouldn't really say life lessons, they are just more realistic than cartoons.

well...in some anime, there ARE life lessons, but mainly, you watch it for entertainment.Like I've said before too,I wouldn't,and I don't obsess over it like the first crush of my life (which...I didn't obsess over her anyways =P),but you can enjoy it on a different level rather than reality.Sure it can be based upon reality, then it has it's points where it's not real, but people wanna try it anyways. But let me ask you this then....if GT3 is JUST a game, but it has the actual cars and courses in reality, then why do you continue to play it?because it's fun..it's very entertaining, and at some points in time, looking at it from the right angle, you can tell...GT3 is a very life lesson giving game.

Just something to think about

if GT3 is JUST a game, but it has the actual cars and courses in reality, then why do you continue to play it?

The answer to that is in the actual question, it's fun to race cars that you don't own, or couldn't possibly own, or even pick the car you actually own and race it against others cars. I also play GT3 because I love the art of race driving, and I just don't have the money to go everyday to the kart or the race track, which is very expensive.

The fact is that GT3 tries to be realistic, and it is in some aspects, on the other hand animes are rarely any realistic, or even tries to.

But Initial D can really teach something, for example, here in Brazil japanese cars are almost unknown, but because of Initial D my website started receiving more visitors, and altought I receive lots of crappy emails from people who wants to be like Takumi, I also receive emails of people that liked the cars and wants to know more about them.

good point Drifter, very well said =D.Yes Jammer, that is Utada on my avatar, isn't she soooo cute?hehe :P.You'd be surprised on how well a chick like her still looks so damn good even though she's over 30 years old ^_^,well..that's what I heard anyways.I saw on a website when I was downloading some Utada Hikaru wallpapers that she was 32 and Ayumi Hamasaki is 23 and guess what..Ayu weighs under 90 lbs !I was like,"whoa!well...ya can't really tell too much, and she still looks good" so even though Ayu may weigh under 90 lbs and Utada is over 30,they still look hot :D!
