"I like the handle here... you can use it to attach a chain and use it as a boat anchor!!"

That's my favorite part.

Haha! The first time I ever used a Mac was when I stayed at The University of Colorado. My friend and I spent like 10 minutes just trying to figure out how to close a window.
Then there was the one in our dorm rec room, which I used once. Then it crashed, then it never worked for the rest of my stay.

I've been using Windows PCs for 10 years. It was neat to have a change for once, though.

I've seen it before. Still funny though.

****! youth_cycler is going to be pissed. You dissed Apple and I called him youth_cytcer.

Double ouchies. That's what he would say. I think. Actually, he probably won't bother to respond to this thread because he's too good for it. Ha!

Then you're a spaz. There's a little goaway box right in the title bar of every window. In fact Windows stole that from Macs so it should not have been more than a 10-second job to figure out.
Actually I've seen that clip before, and I have to say from listening to his rant, a lot of it is dead wrong. Either that or he's about as smart as somebody that can't find the goaway box.
;)
BTW I've just typed this on a Mac that hasn't crashed since I bought it in April. In fact it's only been rebooted a handful of times since then, and none of those were for OS reasons; they were all just because I wasn't going to use the machine for a couple days.

I do have a sense of humor about Macs, though. What isn't funny in the slightest is Windoze.

Yeah, people complain about stupid stuff. "Oh man, it's different. How am I ever going to cope!" However, I've been migrating my 20+ Mac users at work from OS 9 to OS X the past couple weeks and honestly man, some people just don't get it. I've had several people say "How do I close windows?" No lie, they honestly don't think to look at the colored buttons.

In the video, it seemed like his rant was going back and forth between OS 9 and OS X the whole time. Perhaps he was dealing with a Classic situation, which can actually be confusing. It's much like the option in Windows 2000 to use "Windows classic folders" - well if you've never used Windows before you have no idea what the heck that is. It can be confusing. And besides, most of what he's talking about I remember thinking "Damn this is dumb. Apple should have done much better on this."

And if you're such an Apple bigot surely you can find respect for Windows. It does what it does and Macintosh does what it does. Every task has its tool - you just have to choose the right tool for your task.

my parents run a print/graphic shop and have a G4...everytime i stop over or when i'm working there over the summer, that's the only computer i'll ever use now. soooooooo much better than windows. not to mention it's got a dvd burner :D.

i prefer mac only for it's better graphics handling and because it's rock frickin stable. if i didn't play so many games, i'd make the switch at home. I mean really...what does a non-gamer need? Office X, MSN, Mozilla, and a few video players...right? not to mention those things are just friggin gorgeous.

I got an Apple Ipod for my high school graduation/early birthday present and i gotta say...best $600 CDN ever spent. 20 gig capacity. my only beef with it is that !@#$$ windows doesn't recognize the !@#$ USB2.0 port as being a !@#$ high speed port. so my transfers are at about 0.5mb/second till i buy a firewire card since that's all i trust now thanks to crappy windows coding. I confused the **** out of ibm staff trying to boost data transfer speeds...this is with ANY usb 2.0 hd i plug into the piece of garbage. Damn microsoft providing crappy usb2.0 control drivers making for a crappier os...

I only really prefere windows cause everything is made for windows like flight sim and mac versions of software are hard to find. and im not use to the formatt

Ha, I showed you!

BTW, I was thinking the same thing as Duke... how the hell can you not find the close widget?

I was also thinking the same thing as LM, regarding the fact that some of those were the classic OS issues, while some were relevant to OS X.

Anyway, yes, I have to admit it was funny. ;) I have to say though that as I type this I'm importing my mailboxes and contacts from Microsoft Entourage to Apple's Mail and Address Book, because the Entourage database gets *****n' destroyed by the Microsoft Office Updater (which I need to install to make Word half-useable). An updater that destroys the app it's updating! Yeesh.

No, it's your crappy hardware. That's what makes Windows infinitely cooler than Mac OS. It doesn't require propreitary hardware to run. It also makes it much harder to write. Do you know how hard universal compatibility is? I doubt it.

no...windows itself isn't properly supporting my usb card. for some reason, no hardware manufacturer in the world makes usb2.0 drivers for winxp anymore since the only way to get them is through SP1 (which btw, is a worthless, possibly dangerous upgrade on most machines without it). it's driver issues with my usb controller that are preventing me from getting proper speeds with usb2.0, not crappy hardware. this problem is seen in MANY pc's running winxp on varying hardware, its just either a driver or windows issue that microsoft seems to have no knowledge about. their customer support apparently costs money, but since i'm on an OEM windows provided with my laptop, i cannot call microsoft for customer support. even if i could, this would qualify as an advanced issue and i might be charged money for their time (they don't provide free cust. support nemore...either way, their cust. support still sucks...not to mention no 800 numbers)

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;en-ca;incidentsubmit

"Submit your support question to a Microsoft Support Professional and get online help using e-mail (fee may be required)."
scary huh?

Meh, it's not Window's job to make drivers. It's your crappy hardware. Any good hardware manufacturer includes drivers with their product. If the hardware doesn't work with the standards that Microsoft sets, it's not Microsoft's problem. Jesus.

it's apparently true for usb2.0...they're not available period. take a look thru viaarena.com or intel's website. i got 2 usb controllers and neither work anywhere near to their potential speeds.

from viaarena (my manufacturer)
"Due to licensing agreements, USB 2.0 drivers are not available for download. USB 2.0 drivers are available through Windows Update. "

http://www.usbman.com/USB 2 News.htm
"Microsoft in its infinite wisdom has made it impossible for end-users to download the individual driver package of USB 2.0 drivers for Windows XP. If you need the USB 2.0 drivers, MS now requires you to download and install Service Pack 1. This is the only way to get the drivers from Microsoft who promised USB 2.0 support to everyone who purchased Windows XP.

Although, I have the drivers, I am not permitted to post them for download."

damn i hate this...can't drivers of my choice

I have, at times, run both Windows on a PC and Mac OS9 simultaneously, and I'd be a foaming-at-the-mouth villain within two minutes on the PC. In fact, put me in front of a PC now, for five minutes, and it'll happen again, just like before. I can't stand it. In fact, the video link here described all my feelings about PC.

"Spaz" indeed! Not only was the Windows interface stolen wholesale and blatantly from Mac, but, in an attempt to "jazz it up", Microsoft took away it's one advantage: intuitive simplicity.

I would sit for hours at the Mac without any incident at all, only to hear the PC behind me go "Goink!" and flash the message "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down", despite the fact that nothing had been running on it for hours! Reboot, and it crashes. Seven times. Get it back up, let it sit for an hour doing nothing, and... "Goink!"

My current system has crashed exactly four times since I set it up in June, and I keep it on all the time. Why did it crash, you ask? Well, all four times, I happened to be running Virtual PC, and that's what crashed. It just incidentally took the rest with it.

Yeah, I used to be prejudiced against Mac too - about six years ago, back before I knew better from experience. For all of you who need a translator, that means i-g-n-o-r-a-n-t. I was, and that makes it all the sadder to see my mistake echoed so predominantly through other people.
