Thanks Punknoodle!

Cano, the only chrome work that needs restoring is the taillight surrounds and grill. Just about the rest of the chrome is still shiny and clean! ;)

Frame's now rust proofed!

And on a personal note, finally learned to drive a manual! :D

Looking good Kevin. Now how's the body of the Crown coming along?

And congrats on learning manual transmission too! :)👍

Thanks! The body's coming along alright, rust spots have been repaired on the body, just need to work on the bumpers and then clean it up. Will be using POR 15 on the underside of the body as well.

My friend taught me to drive his Toyota 4Runner and...I only stalled three times. >_> Twice at stop signs and once on a hill.

That's good to hear. But the main part is clearing that rust on the chassis and frame is finished. Rust on a frame or chassis can be something else since that's the skeleton (or under skeleton) and the rust can eat up the frame slowly.

Correct if wrong though.

Not bad at all. I have driven a semi auto though. It was in the new Dodge Challenger RT :D. I know how to shift and downshift and seen videos or read about it, but never shifted in a real car yet!:nervous:

Did some more rust repair today! Rear axle and rear springs all got a nice coating of paint.

That difference is crazy. It looked like wood to me on the before picture. @ chassic picture

There was a lot of rust on it, but luckily it was mostly surface rust. A lot of rubbing down with a metal wire brush and hand painting the rear axle with a 50 cent hardware store paint brush. After all that, I feel like I've got some kind of disease.

The frame itself was just surface rust as well, but there was a lot on the driver side rear rocker panel. Cut it off and put in some new metal. We also reinstalled the rear axle a couple days ago, but I never got around to getting any pictures of it.

My 1UZ tranny bell housing arrived yesterday! As well as my motor/tranny mounts!

Friends decided to work on mocking up the motor and transmission to see how it would fit and how to fabricate some brackets and other bits to get everything to fit.

Running on toothbrush power!!

Triple post... :scared:

Engine is officially mounted! However, it'll have to be taken off again to be serviced.

On another note, my friends and I put seafoam in a couple of cars (including my dad's Sienna) and just made our own smokeshow.

Making progress man. I'm impressed with the 1UZ and it fits also! What's the problem with the engine?

Nothing's wrong with the engine, it just needs to be serviced. Timing belt, water pump, exhaust manifold gasket, etc etc. But there is a problem with the fact that the engine sit's quite high... Couldn't really do it any lower unfortunately. :ouch:

Ok. That's a good idea, especially servicing the parts and making sure it's working properly. 👍

Can't wait to see the Crown finished soon. :D

Ima make sure I hug my engine when I get it now lol.

You and Kevin are not alone. I'll do the same thing also.

And what motor are you thinking about putting in your 240SX?

Are you going to beef up that transmission support?
Otherwise you are going to bend something the first time you floor it.

Also, I can't believe I have missed this. This is one of the finest projects I have seen in a long time. 👍

We do plan on beefing up the support. We only did that to mock up how it'd fit to line it up with the diff.

Thanks! :) This thread hasn't caught on as much, but I'll be sure to keep people updated. May as well change the title since no one cares about my Accord.

Also my friend finally posted up pictures that he took with his iPhone. Quite old, back when the car was still together. And other bits that I wasn't around for.

Last summer with the 240Z towing the Crown around the shop yard.

Rust repair on the frame. There was more than we thought, so there was work done.

Never took pictures of the new nitro drop shock that were fitted. So here's my friend's picture of them fitted.

Unfortunately, the 1UZ does not fit...in the engine bay. The exhaust manifold will hit the steering rack.

However, worst of all is the problems that we've run into. More of a family problem for my friend who has the shop. So we're getting kicked out... With this and the fact that I don't have a job anymore, I'm not too sure the Crown will be able to stay. It really was a stupid idea of choosing this as a project car...but mistakes have already been made. I plan on selling this and the 1UZ seperately and hopefully getting money to find myself a new fun car or my own daily that isn't under my parents' name. Of course, I'll be trying to find a job, even though it probably won't pay as well as my previous one. :(

Edit: At the moment, I'm unsure of how things will go, but there's still a chance I can keep the Crown. On the other hand, the 1UZ will definitely be sold off. My friends have a connection with a tuning shop in New Hampshire and recently, that shop has started to sell motors. So I believe I might try to get a 1JZ-GTE off of them.

That's a huge bummer. :guilty:

If you do keep the Crown, will it just sit at your house until you can work on it?

I'm really sorry to hear that, I'm really looking forward to seeing the car finished. That's a rough turn of events, I hope that you can at least keep the Crown.
