I recently got a DFP from Savastore, and I'm well pleased. The wheel makes playing GT4 much more fun. I felt with the DS2 I was just playing, not really competing in the races.

Now it feels like you're racing, not playing. Not to mention gold-ing most of the b-licence tests straight off - the extra control the pedals and wheel give are great. I do find myself using the gear shifter in rally tracks where I'm using much greater angles of steering input, and the flappy-paddle style buttons on tarmac tracks where the wheel is turned much less.
 
I picked up my DFP yesterday & it made a big difrence!!
I was having a hard time using the controller & got stuck on ib license test 6, cone slalom 1, I passed it first time with the DFP.
There was several others I would have gotten stuck on without the wheel, it really made a diffrence.

I liked the kickback going down the Mulsane straight in the Nissan GTP in the ia graduation test.
 
i just turn all of that stuff off. i dont think it matters if it is on or off for the DFP. it only affects other wheels.

i ordered mine on friday from buy.com. Cost: $107, including shipping and tax .It says that shipment will take 7-9 days with FEDEX Ground Service, but Androos told me it was at his home within 48 hours!

Buy.com was great for me as well! the DFP I received yesterday was the rev. B version of wheel... the price was the same as $104.46 or something like that-- including FREE shipping... Right now they are offering a 10% discount coupon I could have used (actually I tried using it before but my browser screwed something up and i didnt get it, and of course could not be applied retroactively! -- so if you buy it there, make sure the coupon is in your cart!). So I could have had it brand new, to my door for $94.

As Stinger mentioned before, the 7-9 days shipping turned out to be next day for me.

Very cool wheel, though, the only 'problem' with mine is the GT badge in the center of the wheel was scratched, even though the wheel was brand new in sealed bags/box (ironically, it is ONLY the center badge, not the screws holding it in, or anything else in the wheel-- it's like someone put a scratched badge on at the factory!)

Active Steering is the one where it adjusts your steering input to help you stop losing control, isnt it? That one affects the DFP. Anyway , its a load of crap along with driving aids.

But the power steering assist is a must IMO.

I just got Burnout 3 thinking it supported 900 degrees mode, I was wrong and it's garbage. 180 degrees steering is fake crap$hit. Can't believe they aren't making all new ps2 racing games to support more than 180 degrees, especially F105 which I was looking forward to getting but no 900 degrees = no sale.

At least there's NFSU2 which I will be getting soon.

Well did you take the sticker off the badge? It might just be on the sticker.
 
i dont even use active steering. :P PC gaming is the way to go. at least untill PS3 comes out with GT5.
 
PC gaming = meh , too technical, too involved, gotta keep up with the technology and hope the games run well on your hardware

Console gaming = more relaxed approach to gaming

But that's cool if you prefer PC gaming, I used to be a devout PC gamer :D

I was just wondering, how much does a real good computer cost that will produce the same kind of game enviorment as a Playstation? It seams that you are talking a lot more money for a computer than a PS would cost, right? I would think that you would have problems playing some games on the computer, like GT IV. You dont get lock ups on youre computer? I have never played that many games on a computer, just a few, but I would think that you would need one hell of a computer to play games like the GT series on it.

I don't know about the total cost but the video card for the computer alone would cost much more than the PS2.
 
Yeah a PC would be much more expensive, but thats because it isnt just used to play games ala PS2. I have played LFS2 with my DFP, and plan to get GTR (and GT Legends when its out) to use with my DFP. I prefer PC gaming to PS2 mostly. Only games I play on my PS2 now are GT4, MGS3 and sometimes San Andreas. If you have a half decent PC and a DFP then try out LFS2 and the GTR/GTL Demos. I will try out Richard Burns Rally sometime soon
 
Hey, i am most likely getting a DF Pro, but to use with my PC. Preferably to play with LFS (i hope some good racing PC games come out soon). Does anyone else use the DF Pro on the PC? And if so could you tell me how it is? I am from australia, and they are really dear here, so i am probly getting one off eBay. I am looking forward to it heaps. And so, i've been reading a bit, and you can't just play with 900 degrees on any game?? is that true on PC? Anyway yeah thanx.

it works amazingly well in lfs. better than gt4. you can adjust the steering lock to whatever you want, make the ffb as strong or weak as you want for the pc. the top two PC car simulators are LFS and richard burns rally IMO. GTR, gt legends, and Rfactor are also available.

Wow. With that deal on Buy.com, I might just have to get the DFP, finally.

One question, though. And I know this has been asked and answered before, but I can't be bothered to go through 24 large-size pages to find it.
Do I need any special adaptors or software to play the DFP on my computer?
 
you dont need anything extra to make act laps shifter and pedals work with your dfp.. just plug em all in, install drivers, and the pc will detect them all.

if you want cheapest brand new DFP in Aust, i got mine couple of days ago from gamehead.com.au. paid about $280 delivered. expensive yes but cheaper thn anywhere else i saw.

its fun new toy but is taking a bit of practice to get used to.

good luck in your search for a cheaper one.
 
Thanx mate, ill think about that option im just watching one more DFP from eBay, and then ill consider about that. I am being quite cautious of eBay now as of just being scammed trying to buy a Sony PSP :( Anyway.

I am just going to ask my question. I hope you someone can help me (please don't say: do a search, because it is almost impossible to find the right answer in more than 2300 posts) :)

Latetly, everytime I start my computer, the DFP doesn't work. I always have to unstall the driver and then reinstall it. I changed USB ports, tried to start with a clean driver installation etc..., nothing works. I "almost" everytime have to reinstall the DFP driver before I can start playing. Even in the game there are problems from time to time.

What could cause this problem???

if you use the search function i think it says 3 or 4 inches. you should search this thread like it reccommended when you asked to post. try keywords "DFP inch"
 
so far ive only tried one game in using this wheel on pc with Live for Speed , either the dam wheel spins about its self or if i do hard left or right then strighten the wheel the in game wheel is still turning left or right. :/
