The M3 that time forgot.

It has some of the ugliest colored leather I've ever seen, however.

This must be newer than 1995 since apparently the first imported M3s to North America were the 1995 models of the E36. Also, the clear indicator lights at the front show it too. However, unlike its European counterpart, it produced a mere 240 HP instead of 316HP, and is electronically limited to 220KMH.The E36 did come in an automatic transmission too.

You really have no idea what you are talking about. Congrats on copy and pasting wikipedia

The 95 models had the option of an automatic. This one still has the earlier side markers and such. Corners are very easy to replace as well, so that isn't really a good indication of anything. The color does look to be Techno rather Daytona, but so many things could be playing into that as well.

I wouldn't mess with that car, it would probably cost you the same as a used one to get it into comparable shape, though it could be a fun/interesting experience. This reminded me of a 90s eclipse that was in the apartment complex I used to live in. The car was parked for more than 10 years before being taken away, it was pretty new when left there, but then it just became a total mess, interesting thing to see though. It even had plants growing under it and the engine and fuel systems were probably done with. The story was of a divorce and since there was no official ownership of the car then it just stayed there even after the owner moved away. Never knew how it was removed. It's worse not to use a car than to use it hard, especially if it's kept outside and never even moved, so if I were you, I'd probably leave that alone unless it were inexpensive enough.

Going to go take another look at it here soon, maybe leave some contact information? Not that whoever owns it is apparently concerned with papers left on the car..

It looks like it was decently taken care of by the original owner. Tbh, it will probably need a lot of money put into it just to make it run again. It would be quite a project though. Would need engine rebuild, clutch probably seized, new tires, and all new fuel lines just to start. Would definitely find the owner first though.

Not necessarily. Depends on what is wrong with it. Cars can sit for years because the owner thought something was wrong with the engine, but it's something else entirely. Chances the clutch is seized is very slim, and as long as they're not rusted, the fuel lines should be fine. Just do a nice flush of the fuel system.

If what is wrong is really simple, an oil change, spark plugs and wires, and a fuel system flush with new filter, I bet it would fire right up.

If similar laws apply in the UAE i'm on the next plane to Dubai ;-)

Unfortunately, there isn't. At least, not one that could let you claim the car in 6 months of being left behind. Over there, an abandoned car is still considered property of its current owner & will be moved to an impound lot. I think one enthusiast who has visited Dubai over the years reported that he saw the same Enzo in an impound lot from 3 years ago, still untouched. :indiff:

lol I should just go there and be like "So that's where I left it!" and hotwire it and drive away. Everyone in the apartments will will laugh so much since it will look like I forgot where I parked for lie 10yrs lol.

Seriously tho call a toe person and move it. It just takes up a spot right now and doesn't look super pretty anymore.

Good luck driving off on four dry rotted tires!

Either way, I left my contact information on it yesterday, and the note is still there.

Good luck with the car. It looks to be a good find. Like others have said, if you do end up getting possession of this, just make sure to get it towed, inspect the car, change the oil and fuel before starting up.

I wonder if it may be a stolen car that was just left there. Years ago, my ranger was stolen and left in a walmart parking lot. It sat there for a week until my friends and I went there to get him a new microwave. The cops patrol it all the time, and knew that stolen cars end up there all the time, but they don't care about recovering a stolen car. I'd run the VIN with the DMV or even Autocheck/Car Fax.

I've since moved from here, but a recent journey back shows that the car still hasn't moved, with my soaked and rotted piece of paper still sitting tattered beneath the wiper blades.

Any luck on finding out the time frame an abandoned car can be purchased by someone else? Because I'll be honest, 4 months later & still no sign of the owner, my interest is a bit peaked.

What part of OKC is this in?

It's in Midwest City, about eight miles east of the OKC Central Business District...in close proximity to Tinker Air Force base. I read somewhere that you'd have to get with the landlord of the property to claim the vehicle as abandoned, since it's on their property.

That's not far from where I usually stay in OKC. I should be up there again in a month or so visiting family in Edmond. May make the effort to look for this car myself.

We have pretty mild winters. Some years it doesn't even snow, some years we get one to two big storms. We're actually calling for 74 degrees tomorrow if that tells you anything. I don't even know if the owner even lives in the apartments or if someone just left it here years ago to blend in. It's quite a shame, really.

2 weeks ago New York was doing 83. So weird.

What about the internals? The fluids? If it's been sitting there for over five years, I wouldn't want it unless I had the money to fix everything.

Drain/flush/replace all fluids, replace spark plugs, replace tyres, check all the fuel/oil/brake lines, check/replace coolant hoses. Dunno if the E36 uses a timing chain or belt, but if it's belt replace that as well just to be safe, and you're good to go. Wouldn't cost that much in the scheme of things.

Talk to the landlord and tell him enough about the car to report it abandoned. Usually there's a 90 day period that the owner can claim it in then it's the property owners. Make sure you tell him enough to be informative but not enough to not get the car at a great price as I doubt he or she knows what that is. You should end up with a nice project car for a nicer price.

Wow, it's in the same condition as mine... I swear I was going to make time to fix it up but never got around to it.

Yeah sure, all car not driven for a longer period of times need clutch and engine rebuilds.. What??

Disinfected, you should be onto this hard.. What's the problem in taking a couple of phones? Make it happen :)

Maybe the guy is in the army (not so likely) or in jail or dead ?

Try to get it if you can.

^ Exactly... whats holding you back disinfected? I'd be all over this M3 if I was in the position to do so... Making calls and doing everything in my power to make it mine. :D
