It sounds like the GT3 version of the MP4-12C.

I'm guessing they are using the same motor and exhaust set-up of that car?

It sounds so...American. Weird.

I laughed.

I can't wait to hear what Jeremy will say about this one.

The more I see of this car more I think it looks like the MP4-12C.

I'm a huge McLaren fan but I don't know... not much about it screams F1 to me. From the looks to the lack of central seating, I don't know.. we'll see how it performs once they start rolling them out.

I really want to like this car but right now it just feels a little forced.

I'm loving this. It screams futuristic hypercar, and the color scheme is sexy as can be.

Shouldn't the thread title be retitled with "Mclaren P1" instead of "Mclaren F1" now that the car's been unvieled and actually has a name?

I'm sure my jaw is broken from the drop it just suffered when it hit the floor.

Gorgeous.

If this car doesn't race like its predecessors I will be disappointed, however it is an awesome car either way.

Finally some moving footage :D.

Amasing car, jaw dropping. But it looks simply upgrade of the MP4. Still, good damn amaising :O

*I didn't read the whole thread *

The racing history...
No concern, winning le man (imho) is a fluke for a first year entry (probably only happend in the first le man :sly: ). It's all about the street car being uncompramised performance, like, one seat in the front center for the driver alone performance. Sadly, not happening. :(

Mp4c12^~^
while the brand style is the same, the p1 is far more avant garde on both overall design as well as brand related style. Im very pleased with the execution of the mclaren p1 appearance.

To me, the P1 is at the other end of the spectrum from beautiful, unique would be the polite term I'd use. Perhaps i need to see it in another color, but for now, it looks better under camo. It sounds great though.

The production version of the P1 will debut at the Geneva auto show.

Wondering whether I'll wait for this and the Enzo successor and cancel my Huayra-order in the meantime to make a final decision when they both are released or wake up and buy a Panda instead.

This car just doesnt feel like F1 successor as much as it just feel's like a new MP4 .

This car just doesnt feel like F1 successor as much as it just feel's like a new MP4 .

To me it feels like neither; rather it feels like a competitor tot eh new Ferrari F70/F150

To me it feels like neither the F1 or the MP4.

Its seems it will be entirely new and revolutionary in every aspect and will be copied for years to come.

Well... McLaren have said it's not a successor to the F1. And personally, I think that's a good thing. If you aim to benchmark where' you were twenty years ago. then you're trying to hit a stationary target.

The whole idea should be to aim ever higher and to keep setting your sights on targets just over the horizon. The MP412C was already in with a shout at McLaren F1-level performance. The P1 is going to be better in most every way. Whatever comes after and above the P1 will be better still.

Let's just hope it will look the part. :D

What is that thing in the middle? it looks kinda odd.

The rev-counter?

The rev-counter?
No not that middle  the big thing to the right of the steering wheel on the 1st and 2nd picture. It looks like a GPS or car settings system.

Yeah probably a centre-console command centre/display.

Pretty sure that's the SatNav/ center console. Similar to the 12c and the Tesla Model S.

Treed.

Looks great. Nothing fancy, tons of carbon. 👍

While I do like the simplicity, they've made it extremely austere and uninspiring...unlike the original F1, which as a designer, I find very handsome, elegant, and purposeful looking, if a bit impractical.

I really dont think the interior of the P1 looks bad or lacking, i just wish that it had the central seating position. I wonder if there is a rule against GT-spec cars on having center-seating (If the P1 is going racing of course).
