Who likes this thrash metal band? Dave Mustaine formed Megadeth after he got kicked out from Metallica in 1983. I like them much better than the sell-outs Metallica. Plus, Megadeth's newest album, The System Has Failed, is out now. I am thinking of buying this album

I like most of their albums. Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?, Rust In Peace, and Countdown to Extinction are the best albums. I like Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!, The World Needs A Hero, Cryptic Writings, Risk, Youthanasia, Rude Awakening, and So Far, So Good... So What! too but not as much as the three albums I have mentioned above.

Remember, this is a thread for Megadeth and not for Metallica loving junkies. No flaming or bashing here either, please.

How's it going? I like Megadeth - They are cool. I currently have only Peace Sells....But Who's Buying, and I also have "Almost Honest" from the Mortal Kombat Annhililation Soundtrack

Oh, I am fine. I heard that Mustaine had an argument with Lars Ulrich of Metallica last month. Mustaine did not want any part of performing with them since he got kicked out before.

The argument was actually because they featured Mustaine on their DVD without permission, and on top of that, didn't bother to thank or credit him for the early Metallica years. Lars also tried to make everything seem okay by telling the media: "I want to hug Dave Mustaine. I find myself physically attracted to him."

Also, I own "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?" and this is probably their best album. I don't like much other Megadeth. For me they only have a limited number of decent songs. Symphony of Destruction is okay, and there are a few other. Peace Sells is their best song by far.

I also have seen many bad reviews on their new album, although nothing to do with being sell-outs, as Metallica have been labelled so many times (appropriately in my opinion).

Megadeth aren't as good as they probably should've been.

Actually, to back that up, after Megadeth's Countdown To Extinction album has been released, they nearly followed the same path of Metallica's downfall to selling out. But some of Megadeths 90's albums were not as bad as the latter. And in April 2002, Mustaine suffered a serious injury to his left arm, eventually ending Megadeth's career. Then nowadays, Mustaine had his arm healed and he resurrected the band, releasing The System Has Failed. It received good reviews to me. And no, this is not like the St. Anger disappointment of Metallica. It proved that Mustaine still had the energy going through since the last two decades.

Megadeth are Metallica with a sense of humor.

Although my first memorys of Metal came from my brother playing Justice for all and Master of puppets over and over I have a soft spot for Megadeth. I think my favorite song would be Crush 'em, always gets me pumped up.

Yes they did, but they got back up, even though I don't like them that much.

Symphony of Destruction is the most recent song that I like. I haven't heard overly half of their stuff, though, so I can't really judge too much here.

you can't say no bashing after this comment. Metallica are not sell-outs. they are way better than Megadeath and I am glad Dave Mustaine Was kicked out. But Megadeath is pretty good. If Mustaine wasn't kicked out, than Kirk would never be in there and I am not sure I would like Metallica as much w/out Kirk. No offence to Megadeath.

Metallica are not sell-outs. QUOTE]

Oh, really? After their black album was released, Metallica went downhill really fast and after St. Anger was released, it already has been clear that they are sell-outs. They were not the great metal band that they once used to be ever since their black album.

Megadeth is and was better than Metallica, IMO. Now let's not go far, shall we?

In my opinion, Metallica are not sell-outs. but as I said, Megadeath are pretty good. But If this goes any further, It would be a ton of posts.

This debate has already provided tons of votes.

In my opinion, Metallica sold out when they brought out Load. They actually promised a hard and fast album to their fans...well I'm still waiting.

i took the Metallica path in my youth ,when i first heard Master of puppets! i did listen to some Megadeth, but they never stuck in my mind like Metallicas did!
The album that got my most attention was Countown to extinction. It got lots of good songs in there and rivaled with Metallicas black album for most time in my cdplayer!

I'd say both these bands had their prime ended early 90s and the reason (that i believe) why metallica came ot on top was that they were way more mainstream from the start! I see Megadeth like a far more advanced band though! Ahead of their time?

I don't think they're ahead of their time, just not as well recognised. I don't think they were overly great either, but they wasted alot of their potential with many average albums.

I once liked Metallica (pre-Black), but then people got obsessed and ruined that for me. Now I'm just really sick of them.

Even though I do like Metallica, I have to agree with Jimmy, and some others, they are sell-outs. My favorite song by Megadeth is Bad Omen, it rules.

I acquired the newest album, "The System has Failed." It's a pretty good listen.

It's not too heavy and better than most of the stuff I can get my hands on.

I like "The Scorpion" the best so far.

I like their early stuff quite a lot. Rust in Peace, Countdown to Extinction and Youthanasia where and still are my favourites.

Their last few albums werent worth the the disks they were written on. 👎

Or the money to pay for them.

Rust in Peace and Youthenasia are meant to be okay. I have to give them a listen, but I'll get The System Has Failed first.

Just got "The System has Failed". I don't like it. I don't mind "Kick the Chair", but other than that, it's quite boring.

By boring do you mean repetitive or not energetic enough?

I've been listening to more and more Megadeth lately, and I have started to like them more. (don't mind my earlier posts in this thread.. I was such a freakin loser) Sweating Bullets is my favorite song, but I am also quite fond to Die Dead Enough, Holy Wars...The Punishment Due, and A Tout Le Monde. (I can also play Sweating Bullets Minus the solo..)
