Are you kidding?
Looking around the internet, I notice a distinct amount of jeering aimed at Morgan.
I think it takes a brave company to resist modernising completely, and following the crowd.
The little modernising they DO do, is much appreciated. A more economical but faster V6 replaces a V8 in the Plus 8, and the Aero 8 gets it's mitts on a brand new V8 from BMW.

It makes me sad that people would poke fun at a company trying so hard to hang on and satisfy it's band of loyal customers.

I'm just glad it's all going well down in Malvern.

I am NOT deluded.

Morgan isn't the oldest car manufacturer, i don't think they were around in the 1800's.

Morgan started in the early 1930's, mercedes started earlier than that but the only merged with Benz to form Mercedes-Benz in the 1930's but later than Morgan's first car was built. I think Maserati started a couple of years before Morgan though, but Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Bugatti were all around before Morgan was as well.

yah, Morgans still look great. maybe not to everyone taste but i think they do a great job at keeping that old style look.
That picture doesn't do it much justice though, looks a bit odd although that might be me :)

To me it looks like the Aero 8 is crosseyed--and if that is gonna be the angle for the headlamps, why arent they flush into the bumpers? Anyway, I respect Morgan for offering excellent driving dynamics w/o the use of anti roll bars and resisiting the influx of technology that dulls the driving experience.

I've sat in an Aero8, theres a showroom in Manchester that has one and it looks a lot better in the metal (and wood).

The Aero 8 uses the BMW 540i V8 doesnt it? I like it, not at first though but it definintely grew on me.

Many of us GTPlanet members probably weren't even born when Morgan was first formed. But the fact remains that Morgan is shying away from modernization. In a way, your average tuner car hater would say that the Morgan Aero 8 GT racer looks like "rice" with the GT wing at the back. But if you ask me, it is a wonderful look to the past. They cost less than a Dodge Viper if I'm not mistaken. They certainly cost more than a Honda S2000 (even optioned out). It is a nice car. I don't know about past machines from Morgan, but this Aero 8 should be a wonderful hit. How can you NOT like nostalgia in a post-modern, near futuristic society as this one? Now sure, restoring a 1920 or 1930s classic is pretty fun, but how would you like to have a modern car that's almost anything but?

I overexaggerate over this, but I'm happy with Morgan with its accomplishments with this machine.

In the mid 1960's, my dad had a Morgan; [just don't have a picture right now...]. He said it rode so low to the ground, that at stop lights, you could reach over the unopened door, and touch the pavement! It had no covertible top, it had to be covered when outdoors on a rainy day. It was fairly unreliable, and some parts took 2 weeks to arrive in the States back then.

He sold it after about a year of ownership; but the basic car and design remained virtually unchanged after 30 years, until that hideous Aero packacge was deisgned for it. Hybrids have nothing on the Morgan; I think you had the option of getting a propane-powered engine for the car; far cheaper than gasoline to this day.

I remember telling my friends in middle school about the Morgan and the Austin-Healey he owned at the time. They looked at me as if I was from another planet, with their knowledge of Porsches, Lamborghinis, and Ferraris; to this day, a Morgan or A-H sighting is far rarer than any exotic in this neck of the woods.

Morgans are great sporstcars but they are definitely not exotics, thats in no way a bad thing though.

I think they're a mix of Sports, Luxury, and Tourer. You can imaging crossing continents in that thing. And being Naturally Aspirated it sounds gorgeous, believe me. Myself and most of West Yorkshire heard it revving, when my friends dad started his Aero 8 up.

 you lucky you should go take pictures or even better videos of it so we can listen to its beutiful engine.

I don't have a digicam :(

Or a webcam for that matter.

http://www.sleepy-fish.com/whatsnew.htm This sites great for topGear vids but I'm not sure if theres one of the Morgan. I have a pic of an Aero 8 and a Plus 8 I took at the British motoshow last month but I can't upload any pics onto this site since the revamp for some reason, it just doesn't go past the uploading stage ever.

I have been reading a few online road tests of the Aero 8, and apparently it has the same dimensions as a Miata , although a longer wheelbase.

I think in terms of owning a super/sports car (0-60 in 4.2 secs), this one scores highly for exclusivity and originality. And those looks continue to grow on me :grumpy:

Really? It looks so much bigger than a Miata/MX5/Roadster/Eunos.

And it did infact remain unchanged for 30+ years...

The Aero 8 was not a package for the Plus 8, but a completely new (although still build in wood) car, designed with help from BMW..
