^ 'Unknown half-baked cars' in GT is what makes the game separate from any other racing or should I say driving game. Most people don't know about Pagani, ASL, Tommy Kaira, Cizeta ,Alpine and other special marques until PD brings them to life in GT.![]()
Pagani had already received a fair amount of positive press prior to GT3. ASL was the natural progression from Tommy Kaira, which is hardly unknown over in Japan. Cizeta was more a technological achievement than a genuinely good-driving car (that engine should've been mounted longitudinally, damnit!), and Alpine's a very old company, so the only reason I would assume people didn't know about it is because a good portion of GT players are barely old enough to drive, much less know about cars that are far older than them. When I say half-baked, I generally am referring to companies that sprout up, make impossible claims, maybe produce a real-life working prototype, and never do anything again. A quick glance at the wishlist shows the AADA car, which through my admittedly short google-sleuthing, I never found anything further than a sketch. And Acura; people complain about Skylines, but show me the significant chassis changes between the LS and RS Integras. I know there's a difference between a normal GT-R and a V-Spec one. Aston DB-One is just an art student's design rendering. Show me where there's a 5.0, 5.8, or M X5 from BMW. Or this "Bugatti =Unnamed= Hyper Sedan [950hp] '10".
I won't lie; GT's always been about the cars for me too. But this just gets rediculous after a while. People list near-identical trim levels for cars, or cars that are rumours, just for the sake of listing them, and that's what has disappointed me with the current list. Give me all the cars that have shown up in the past games (including the old LM cars, because I miss the Del Sol), and new models that have been released since GT4, and I'll be happy. Flesh it out, and I'll be even happier. But don't waste disc space for every conceivable variant of a 1 or 3 -series.
-> In fact, unlike before, I verify each car requested by the poster. So its not 100% fictional, I'm still on the process of eliminating any inaccuracies on my wish list.
In all serious, good luck, that list is quite simply massive.
^ That is really true, as I add each car or manufacturer. I also learn the significance of these manufacturers like Monteverdi and ZIL, as well as various of significant cars that are flying under the radar.![]()
This I do appreciate, and I definitely want a return to the old "Info" screen for each car, as I felt that did more for GT's encyclopediac approach than a few added cars ever did.
Oh, and call me crazy, but with the fact most SUV's are car-based now, I don't see too much of a problem with them in the game. The Forester was actually quite effective in GT2
