I have the Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel... i'm very satisfied with it. I'm not a hardcore racing enthusiast, so I for instance don't really need a clutch pedal. One thing's for sure - GT5 is about 100000 times more fun with a wheel!

If money is tight, but you want all the features: Fanarec Carrera Wheel.

If you want to buy it in a shop and not wait for delivery and want full GT support but can miss out on some features (clutch + h - shift: DFGT

If you want the best wheels money can buy: G27, Fanatec GT3 v2 or GT2 if you want to use it on an xbox.

If want full GT support but can miss out on some features for now and want a high end wheel: the Thrustmaster T500.

Google them all, the internet has lots or reviews and price guides on them!

I bought the DFGT for $130 USD one day after buying GT5. I realized I needed it after trying out the NASCAR school.

I have the Fanatec Carrera. I would say no to the Thrustmaster and wait until the price drops. Others will disagree on that but I can't justify $600 tag for a wheel.

I love my Carrera, but it hasn't been hassle free so far

I've put my thoughts together in some detail here:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=191594

However if you want the short story, I've got a G27, I love it, and if you enjoy driving stick and don't care about programming buttons or changing the maximum wheel rotation, you will love it too. If you want to set maximum wheel rotation Fanatec wheels have it covered, if you want the best wheel on the market and don't care about a shifter and money isn't a problem the T500 RS is the wheel for you. And you can program the buttons on it.

The one thing I'm trying to confirm about the T500 RS, is can you change the maximum wheel rotation? Because if not, the only thing that makes it better supported in GT5 than the G27 is programable buttons, which is pretty lightweight support wise. It leaves the Fanatec wheels with a clear advantage, IMO.

Just to add that the Fanatec's also have other adjustables on the wheel, such as linearity and deadzone which are vey useful for tailoring the wheel to your needs.

However, there have been some issues around quality control and customer service that can be found here on GTP. You may well be absolutely fine, but be forewarned that you may need the 2 year warranty at some point. This didn't put me off, but am trying to be balanced in my advice.
