This year, the association decided to stop using the old Vectra design and replace it for the newer Astra Sedan (different from Europe).

Check it out the design (not a real picture)

When the cars of the JF Racing (the team i work for) are completed, with painting and sponsors decals, i'll take some pictures for you all.

These days we were testing the new V8's with 500hp (still with the old Vectra desing). I wonder if the new design will have any substantial effect on lap times.

:)

I hope they show some races on the Speed Channel. There haven't been much racing on of late. I wish they would show older races, maybe more JGTC or British GT races while were in the slow season.

Where do they race these cars? Tracks, road courses, street courses or rally tracks?

They race on track like:

- Interlagos (used by F1 also)
- Jacarepaguá (useb by MotoGP)
- Curitiba (was used by Telefonica Word Series)
- Tarumã
- Campo Grande
- Santa Cruz
- Londrina
- Goiânia
- Brasília (track owned by Nelson Piquet himself)

There's a plan to use a airport in Belo Horizonte for a road course. Don't know if it will become reality.

Also, the Oval track at Jacarepaguá , that was used by CART for 1996 to 2000, was used 3 times but the organization decided do get rid of it.

I heard rumours of a promotional race in Europe, but that was 6 months ago. Don't know if it was just a rumour or some plan.

Man... are touring cars the only thing close to "stock" car? I liked the pictures at the top of this page, even if they weren't real pictures. Looking at the stock car in Johnny's thread, if that is what a Brazilian stock car is supposed to look, it's interesting. More like BTM: Brazilan Tourenwagen Masters. But other than that, it's like American stock car with non-functional lights.

Nice to learn about stock cars from South America's largest nation.

Well i liked you calling them BTM :)

By the way, those lights work. At least the tail lights are fully functional. I don't know if the front will be just a frontlight decal, or a real frontlight, since it's a new body, new regulations,... And since i'm mostly working with new engine testing, haven't checked the new body yet ( plus it's not fully build yet ).

till last yeast there weren't no frontlights (meaning extra space for sponsors) but the tail lights were always used.

Plus the Stock Car association is divided in two categories. The one i posted the design for this year is called Stock Car Pro V8.

Run by the same organization ( Organization name is StockCar Brasil ), there is also a division called Stock Car Light V8. This division uses the same engine, but with lower hp, and it uses the Astra Hatch body.

This year will be more interesting since the PRO division will use the Astra Sedan, with the design i posted, and V8 engine with between 460/500 hp.
The LIGHT division will continue to use the Astra Hatch body (introduced last year), with a V8 engine with 350/380hp.

This is the Astra Hatch of the StockCar Light:

The team i work, JF Racing has 2 cars in the Pro division, but is planning to put a car in the Light division.

Small pics of the TEST car at Interlagos.

I'll try to find them bigger. I still haven't saw the status of my team paintjob (if it will change), because i'm at Jacarepagua testing some stuff (brakes, engine, transmission,...) with the rest of the team.

PS: Just got a call from Ingo Hoffman, one of the team driver, and he told me that the new body + new rear wing, new tire compound, the lap time already is down for 0.8 sec. Please remember that it's the organization TEST car, not with qualifying or race setups well done.

For the records the Fórmula 1 record pole at Interlagos is from Montoya - 1'13''114 (2002, Williams). The Stock Car V8 Test Car did 1'38"023 :) I think after the team "get" the car, we can qualify at 1'37" / 1'36" high

EDITED: One more pic of the TEST car
