The New Coke C2

I have seen commercials for this new Coke all over TV, and finally I saw it for sale at the supermarket and, WTF?! it's more money than regular Coke! What the hell are they thinking? You can't say something has 1/2 the carbs of your regular product and then charge MORE for it! So I didn't buy it but was nevertheless still curious as to what it actually tastes like. So the next week I went back to do some grocery shopping and they were giving away free samples of it. I tasted it and to me it was not far from Diet Coke, only with a little more flavour. But it definitely did NOT taste like Coca Cola at all. Anyone else tried it? What do you think?

I tried it a few weeks ago for the first time and I thought it was great! It was a little bit sweeter than regular Coke, or something, but yet it didn't have that awful sweetness of Diet Coke.

Isn't it still sweetened with artificial sweeteners? That, to me, is wrong right away. They always taste weird and you can't NOT taste them.

Never was a Coke fan. I'd rather have a Pepsi Edge, by all means. I'm a big fan of Pepsi products.

Also, on the topic of the Coke C2 commercial. They have Queen's song, Want to break free. What does that have with drinking soda?

What does The Rolling Stones' "Start Me Up" have to do with Microsoft? Since when do songs have to do anything with what exactly they're advertising.

Who really cares about the song, Queen owns and because of coke, we all get to hear more Queen! Kudos to coke!

Still doesn't make me want to buy the product though, price it the same as regular coke, and then I'll buy it.

Well, since you asked, they also advertise independence on the commercial in writing. What does independence have to do with Coke?

The ability to have diet coke without sacraficing taste?

This isn't that complicated to figure out...

👍 👍 👍
I won't drink Diet Coke or regular Pepsi because they're too too sweet. But the C2 was acceptable. Still not as good, but acceptable. It was the same price here, though. The only problem was it was only available in 6 packs, not 2-litres.

In Canada they're sold in boxes of 8 cans, and they cost more than boxes of 12 regular Coke. That is why I have decided not to buy it until it is reduced in price to at least the same as Coke, and hopefully less (though that'll never happen).

I had Pepsi Max in the UK and that stuff was pretty durn good. Is pepsi Edge the same thing?

Heh:tup: I had this stuff today and I thought it was very good. Little to no taste difference IMO. Where I got it C2 and regular coke are the same price.:)

Yeech, isn't 2-liters too much? I have trouble just downing a can of soda… in fact, I really wish those new smaller soda cans were more widespread (I think they're 8 oz.?), because that's more like what I'd be able to drink in a normal sitting. If I remember correctly, 2-liters comes out to about 100g of sugar, which is a whole lot for one drink.

[/health-lecture] ;)

Anyway, I haven't tried C2 yet. Does it have artificial sweeteners, or just less "real" sugar?

Did you just buy one can of it? Because everything costs the same in a can. But buying a case of it is more money for some reason. But I saw that at Sobeys, which is an AMERICAN company, so maybe that's what's wrong...?

Anyone remember Crystal Pepsi? I used to love it, even though it was pure sugar in an aluminum can!

Carbonated drinks lead to flatulence. I'm sure you mis-heard the lyrics, and it's really "I want to break wind".

Fizzy drinks are evil. They either have too much sugar, or none at all and have it replaced with aspartame or one of the other foul-tasting artificial sweeteners. Then there's Pepsi Max and what used to be called "Caffeine-free Diet Coke", which are effectively not-very-fizzy brown water.

I think it has less real sugar in it...

Wheras for Pepsi Edge, it uses that Splenda sweetner.

I, myself haven't tried either of these drinks. They're eh...Trendy. Because of the low-carb bull**** I see everyday on TV, These things just add fuel to the fire. Then again, it's just a trend. It'll go away. Hopefully.

wtf......i dont get it. why would they make something with half.....when diet coke has NONE!

stupid idiots. if people care that much about nutritional facts, they wouldn't be drinking coke in the first place...and if so, they would be drinking diet coke.

Pure Barq's for me. Pepsi doesn't have the kick that I like. Coke is ok. Dr. Pepper is ok too.
I haven't tried any of the new flavors. No need to.

As for how much I drink...I donno. It depends. I like 2 litres because it's a variable amount of soda. I can drink just a bit of it, or most of it. It doesn't matter.

i've been digging canned coke though...theres something about it. its just so crisp.

when i open them. i pop it really fast so it discharges quickly....its cool like that. you know a good can of coke when you flick it open and see some vapor float out. 👍

Nothing better than a good can of soda! Nothing worse than a bad can of soda though :yuck:

And that C2 commercial just came on while I was typing this  great song

I haven't tried a regular cola soda in years. Actually, I did try that Pepsi Blue stuff a year or so ago. Do they still make that?

I remembered drinking RC Cola, Classic Coke (it was known as Coke, before New Coke hit the market), Dr. Pepper and my childhood favorite, Shasta Cola.

Do any of you old-timers remember Aspen? Now that was pretty weird tasting soda!
