You might find an Aluminum BBC in some racing parts catalogs: no idea if they come in 454 or 427 sizes, Do know that they get bigger in displacement, but typically that means that the actual size gets no bigger...the block weight might actually get smaller. These are aftermarket engines, though, not GM mills.

Got any buddies who do a lot of dirt track racing? They might build you up a nice street motor that won't shove your car's nose to the ground.
 
I know no dirt track racing people. I think I'm leaning towards an LS2. Right out of the box it has more than enough power for my tastes.

Those vans kinda scare me. Theres just something scary about them....
