There are much better pictures at VWVortex......

And really, all the VW cars have always been fairly similar looking. I think the new ones look great though. The new Golf looks great. The Jetta, as always, looks like a Golf with a trunk, and looks nice. And the new Passat is much bigger and great looking. Has a little Phaeton feel to it, which is great if you ask me. So, I'd say its more of a Phaeton clone rather than a Jetta clone. Either way, it looks great to me.

This was at a local car show a couple of days ago. The first thing I said when I saw it was "ewwwww, thats ugly". I really don't like the front end of that, it looks like VW is trying to use audi's new front end scheme (which is ugly to begin with). I guess you have to see it in the metal. I may dislike it because they had a nice current generation vr-4 passat sitting next to it.

Huh??? VW doesn't have a VR-4. They make a VR6 engine, but its not in the Passat. The only engines you can get in the Passat are the 1.8T, the 2.0 TDI, and the 2.8 V6, not the VR6. Not sure what your talking about. And about the styling looking like an Audi???? Thats like saying a Honda looks like an Acura. They're all the same company, so of course they will share some styling cues. Personally, I like the look with the grille, on both the VW and Audi cars. Different, but the more I see it, I like it a lot now.

Am I the only one that thinks it looks very similar to Audi?

I have no idea what I'm talking about when I see a VW all I know was that it was a small VW that may or may not have had a trunk, sported recaro seats, was not an R32, and had the workhorse 1.8 T along with some additional designation after its name. Yes Audi and VW are the same, but they are different brands and should each have their own individual character. I was saying that the new audi front end looks ugly to me and this car has it.

Edit: I took a quick look and it was a GLI model, I called it a VR4 because at first I thought it had the VR6 engine but upon further investigation it had the 1.8, so VR4 got stuck in my head.

AWWWWWWWWwww now i know what kind of VW that was that I saw earlier today. I really couldn't figure out if it was a Passat or a Jetta... ;-)

How is it a clone? People these days still don't understand brand imaging and characterization. Models from the same manufacturer share many styling cues!!! That's how it was meant to be. They want people to see that car and say, "that's one nice VW," without seeing the badge on the front.

I actually really like the way it looks. VW stylin team is doing a pretty good job. Although I didn't like the new Golf at first but I think the look is growing on me.
