I like the new test course, it's a great change!  Turning left is really cool, too.

Its cool to test the car on it, but racing on it sucks very much (boring: turn left, left, left, and left. Please repeat these steps to win!)

At least there shouldn't be any races on the track.  I hope...

Well, I don't know, it would be cool to have one or two races there.

Yeah GT2 did. Oh well easy money!

GT3 will have a 100 mile endurance race on the super speedway. But heres the good stuff. If you win you will get an F1 car! 😈
But its awarded randomly so you might not get it. :(

I think there is a VW Polo race on the test track. About 10 laps or something. No joke.

That could be a rather long little race!  :sleepgo:

Thread bump, because no need to make a new thread for the test course.

I really hate the test course, and it isn't any better in GT4, except the air whooshing by. Also it's boring because it's sooo smooth. It's so boring that I just crash the wall for nothing. :banghead: There's no sense of speed here at all, except if you are wheelying.

Unfortunately for us, this is the way real Test Tracks are....they have to be mirror smooth so cars like the Bugatti Veyron don't wind up as scrap metal ready to be recycled into tin cans. In GT2 the bumps are actually unrealistic (i explain why over in the GT4 forum...i forget what thread).

I hate to break it to you, but there was actually no need to bump this thread either (though I applaud the effort) because everyone and their brother has already said they hate the Test Course because it's so boring in the "Least favorite track" threads.
;)

At least in GT4 there are only 3 races on it, for a combined total of 8 laps, all in Extreme Hall.

And there are only 5 races on Super Speedway.

Well that's a relief. :)

Actually, two of the best races I ever had in GT3 were at the Test Course. They were both incredible slipstreaming battles in which I won 30-minute races by a second or less - one by less than 2 tenths!

In the All-Japan GT, my Oreca Viper beat the stupid Pennzoil GT-R by 0.164" after 29':22.229" of careful racing, and the Denso Supra was only 0.253" behind me as well.

In the GTWC, my FTO LM outran the 787B by 0.640" after 18 minutes of close drafting. Both of these were some of the most exciting races I had in all of GT3.

I would have to agree with that!

The "Like the Wind" race a little long, but slipstreaming behind many of the other cars lap after lap was great fun. I did win by about 10 seconds in the end, but once or twice it was quite intense... The tyres on the car I was using were wearing down pretty quickly, so I had to be careful on the banking, thus they always caught me up by the end of the corner... :ouch: Didn't want to pit early because I would have lost too much time.

It's been a long time since I had a race like that. I don't recall having a race that much fun in GT4.

Yup....GT4 is just to easy....

And Test Course in GT3...so many memories there.... I remember taking my GT-One there, leaving the pack behind, wait for them, and do it all over again:sly:

Blecch. There only needs to be maybe two! :yuck:

I agree. There are way to many races on the Test Course. If there is going to be one, then thats how many there should be, ONE! But for godsake 15! The only race that should be on there is one that, has cars that are capable of over 200mph, and have 10 laps. That should be the only one on there. It is so boring driving around on a boring oval it makes you want to bang your head against a wall! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Well i liked Test Course a lot in GT2,but the one in GT3(and subsequently in GT4) was way too long!!!But it was still great, could do speed runs and do setups to make the car go even faster. The races however was very boring.Even if they wanted to do the track,at least make the surrounding look more interesting. It was also good when they have less races on Test Track in GT4.But i think the Like The Wind event was quite exciting to do....

Eh ima fan of Test Course for certain tests and tunes for my cars. But other then that there really isn't much to it.:indiff: which is also why i find nascar to be a bit boring in some case's. But that is just my opinion take it how you want:tup: .

That's very cool. I've had a few super-close races at the TC as well. It's like..I'd be driving something slower than the leader, so I'd have to carefully do a "draft-n-dodge" as I came out of the turn towards the finish line. You gotta get the timing just right otherwise another car will pass.

I just do tests there to this day. Almost every car I actually drive, I do a test run as well while it's stock just to see the acceleration, braking, and top speed limits.

When you said repeat these steps to win, you should have said repeat these steps to die of bordom

I have had a close race on there which was really exciting. I was in arcade mode in a Lister Storm V12 Race car, and put the oppistion up to speed 10. I then quick tuned my car (Maxed BHP and Speed, Decreased Weight) which made my car the fastest car on the grid, apart from one, The Panoz Espernate Race Car 98, which can reach 230mph on it's own power. My car's top speed is 200mph, which still makes it seem impossible to win, well no. I had also set the race to 30 laps, and had fuel useage and tyre wear on. Anyway, at the start, I made sure that I was behind all the other cars, which meant I could Slipstream them on the first turn. Using this technique got me right behind the Panoz, just before we started to exit the first coner. So, I stuck behind him for 7 laps, but at this point, I was starting to get low on fuel, so I pulled in front of him because slipstreaming is supposed to use up more fuel. Then on lap 12, the Panoz pitted. Now I wanted to pit on lap 13, but I was on my last small bit of fuel, the small red dot on the gauge. I decided to risk everything, and go round for one more lap. This was my second lap on that last bit of fuel. It lasted the lap, and it did not run out, which was amazing, since 13 is usally an unlucky number. As I came out of the pits, I had lost my 33 second lead over the Panoz, and I saw him speeding up the straight, so I pulled out in front off him, and he hit me up the rear, so I got back up to full speed straight away. Then I pulled back behind him, so I would be slipstreaming him again, and as I started to run low again I pulled in front of him. This time though, I pitted on the same lap as him, lap 24. He finished first, but I was'nt far behind and pulled out from my pitbox right behind him. I only had 3 dots on my gauge, so it was going to be hard. I tried to stay in front of him for the rest of the race to save fuel, but on the last lap, last turn he slipped past me. So I had to slipstream him, in the middle of the last coner. I succeded, and I won the race, by about 0.094 seconds, if I recall correctly. That was the only thing that stopped me from remembering that I was racing on the most boring circuit to have ever been included on Gran Turismo. But it was a very exciting race! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Thats very cool. I was gonna say opposition speed 10? Fuel? and then I realized you were talking about GT4. I was gonna say hmmm how come my GT3 game had no fuel?

As far as I'm concerned it is still the Test "Curse" and using it for anything but testing is a sin.
