I seen a B9 Tribeca at this year's Houston Auto Show. The front looks kind of scream Cayenne, just not as insanely powerful.
Someone did a photoshop/photochop of if that center piece wasn't there, and actually, it looks a bit plain. It kind of would have been better looking if it had that aggressive grill design like with the R34 Skyline. Since the trapezoidal design at the front is like this: /___\, it kind of would look better if that trapezoidal piece with the Subaru logo was like this instead: \___/. I'd probably do away with the rest of the grill and just make that center piece horizontally wide. In addition, I'd make the headlights a little wider so that the design doesn't get messed up.
The rear, on the other hand, looks pretty clean and polished. I don't really know about the extra spoiler on the roof, but I'd probably remove it. That is, unless that extra spoiler is to aid in aerodynamics. A WRC version of this latest Impreza wouldn't look too bad. Just maybe picture the Impreza in this thread as a WRC race car, tearing up Monte Carlo, Argentina, the Acropolis Rally, the Japanese rally, catching air in Finland, or whatever your favorite FIA World Rally course is.
The design is growing on me, much like how the looks of the Chevrolet Cobalt kind of grown on me until I thought the Cobalt wasn't that bad in looks. That new Impreza's design is growing on me. I'll probably still prefer the 2003-type Impreza, though. The new Impreza's lines are soft, while mean. I wouldn't call it the most beautiful modern Japanese creation, though. I save that for the Nissan S15 Silvia and its variations (especially the Spec-R Aero).
