The green from the NB would have been such much better lol
Dunno why Mazda has such an aversion to actual colors outside of Soul Red.
 
Needs to be something distinctive like Elbaite Green by Mercedes, IMO.

I still kick myself for not buying an A200 with white AMG interior in this colour back when I bought my Swift Sport. It's such a cool colour.

I personally hate these shouty greens. BMW Sanremo Green and Audi Sonoma Green are the best greens on the market I think.
 
Surprised they didn’t use the green from the CX model. Well, also 5at they didn’t use a bright racing green to match the racing orange of the 30th. Maybe for the 40th in a few years.
 
So I was looking a little closer at the pictures of this new green and one thing that I'm noticing, I think, is that the seats might be a new design.

As far as I can tell, this doesn't match the Recaros nor the Grand Touring leather seats in the ND3. If this is actually the case, this might be the most exciting thing about this update because the seats in the ND have always been absolute trash.

The Zinc Green car pictured doesn't have the BBS package, and the seat looks similar to the Recaro but not quite the same. They don't have the neck cutout area and the shoulder treatment is different. You might be right about it being something Japan only, but it would be awesome if they offered the Recaros or something similar to their shape in a package without the BBS & Brembos. I don't care for those wheels on the ND, and I don't need the upgraded brakes.

Only reason I didn't get the BBS/Recaro/Brembo package Club was because you couldn't get it with a tan interior. Not the biggest fan of black interiors if I have options lol
Eventually I'd like to get a set of front Wilwoods and a different set of Koning wheels than what I have already.
Also honestly didn't think the seats were that bad in my GT-S, though they could use some side bolstering.

The update will see some additional tweaks to the car, as well, including a change in the damping philosophy that see soft springs with stiff dampers swapped for stiff springs with soft dampers. The brand will also release the Pure Sport model, which adopts Zinc Green Metallic paint, a gray fabric roof, and standard Bilsten dampers. The special model also gets a set of Brembo stoppers with silver calipers that sit behind a set of 16-inch Rays wheels finished in black. As you can see in the pictures in this story, it's a rather handsome little roadster.

I bet the Pure Sport model gets the seats, as it already has the Brembos and Bilstens...only difference is it won't have BBS. That's great for me, I always thought those wheels looked weird on the ND. The 16" Rays are a great match. Hopefully it won't be as expensive as the BBS/Brembo package...but I have a feeling it will be.
 
Even though the RAYS are a tie-in to Super Taikyu and obviously the 787B days, BBS Japan are really having a renaissance with the RS wheel in current JDM car shows. So, seems a bit weird to have run BBS(and Enkei) the life of the Roadster and now RAYS so late in the life of the ND. I do prefer the direct link to S-Tai.

I'm no expert, but those patent drawings look like an aluminum chassis, rather than a steel one. The box sections are chunkier and look more like extrusions & castings than pressed sections, particularly the front subframe.

This also looks very developed to the point where I'd say this is heading for production.

Most likely it should be ready, even if customers are buying the ND, Mazda are probably missing potential buyers waiting for a new model.

I’ve always preferred the 1.5 for the lighter weight.

You simply can't market a car in America or Canada with amount of power. Almost everything from that market has gone by the wayside...even the the Prius and entry-level hybrids have gained more power. The engine we get in the States still creates a fantastic and efficient sports car that can actually get out of its own way.
 
The USA could, for a price cut. It would be interesting to see how many would buy it and chuck the engine or add forced induction, etc.

:D Like a kei car, everyone should have an MX-5.

Not sure if most folk will tolerate being out accelerated by a minivan or basically every other car if the MX-5 had the 1.5 in the US. Especially not the heavier RF like what I have. Maybe if it were $10k cheaper, but of course that is impossible lol. At least with the 2.0 I can out gun most regular NPC vehicles on on ramps and what not.
 
Yeah, I was surprised by how quick the NDs are now. Of course it’d be a big step down and I mean, it’d be more nostalgic in the vein of NA and NB power levels. Which is the point that it’s not about power in a Roadster. Though it has helped address power wishes since the turbo models, NC and 2L ND.
