Hey guys, I had a strange idea. I wonder if GT4 will feature those side lights on those GT racers? If you are unfamiliar to sportscar racing, those lights are to show position in class. If you're watching a replay and you know your LM race car is leading, why not have them?

I asked that because that Corvette C5 picture donated by Jayxer. Anyhow, any more LM car ideas?

I can live with the above and the DTM version but I really want the Bentleys Speed 8 in there. At least it will live on somewhere :banghead:
 
An LM version of the Aston Martin Vantage similar to this one.
 
THAT is an LM mod of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage? No offense, but that looks like a TVR on crack from the back. The front looks like a BMW that got its butt whippped in a bar fight. If I was one of the designers of the Vantage, I'd keep that mean, muscular look, and just build it up to be a mean road racer.

Ridge Racer Type 4 doesn't feature real cars, however, it is unique. With 80 unlockable cars from 4 teams to make 320 in all, there are some resemblences. For example, a car called the "Licorne" has a Lexus-like headlight arrangement, and the back of the car resembles the Gillet Vertigo, but with back lights of a Corvette. One of the cars looked like an NSX by style (but was an American car maker in the game!).

Remember that I am pretty experienced and can pull out cars out of nowhere not even related to GT. But ideas can come from anywhere. So play a few more games. But do come back to GT!
 
That Vantage goes like a ***** on heat, I personally like it, it's not a show car either it is actually a race car. So even if your not too keen on the looks it doesn't matter because the aerodynamics serve their purpose and they are best suited for that car.

But I thought that Aston flopped in the British GT championship, and onlt competed in a couple of races?:odd:

Note: I'd like to see you be able to convert the normal road cars (like in GT2, with the Nissan Primera and Ford Modeo) be converted into the Touring cars. This mainly applies for Vauxhall Astra, Peurgeot (sp?) 406, Honda Civic, Alfa Romeo 147, MG ZT, Lexus IS200 etc...
Also on the note of MG, I'd like to see an LM version of the new X-power is it??? You know the new big MG sportscar, which can be tund to 800bhp.
 
Yeah they did, but this was run in some other series and although it didn't do many race and it didn't win it was very fast. It has 700Bhp and it weighs only 850Kg.
 
Ruf = Porsche? Arguing this is pointless. No-one's going to change their mind, and to the layman the 3400s is a Boxster and the RGT is a Carrera. They look like Porsches, they sound like Porsches, they're built from bits of Porsches. Jumping on people for calling a Ruf a Porsche smells of hair-splitting and elitism.

Back on topic, I'll be a happy bunny if the DeWalt TVR T400 makes it into the game. :drool: The more TVR's the better!

So you know better than that the Law that states the criteria for a car maker to be classed as it's own marque, Ruf meet all thoes criteria. It's not as though it's not been said before why Ruf is an independant marque producing it's own cars, people just persist in not getting the facts straight on this matter. And no one jumped on mindless dude's back, he said he couldn't see the difference between Ruf and some other tuners like Alpina, it was explained to the best of my knowledge (I don't know all that much about Alpina).
 
Oh and the more TVR's, the better. Definitely, old and new, I want them all to be in which is unlikely but I still want them all.
 
I don't blame you. Personally I'm not much into the older TVR's, I like the new curvy ones, but if the older ones were included they might grow on me.

The Ruf / Porsche thing was meant to be light-hearted, but it's difficult to get that across in text. Sorry if you thought it was a dig.

For LM cars, I would like to imagine a 1957 Corvette with racing treatment. Then maybe I can picture the BEAUTIFUL Datsun Zs race-modified. In Gran Turismo 2, you could get a Toyota 2000GT, but you'll need some serious financial backing for it, plus you need to be lucky to see it for sale.

I don't talk about vintage cars a lot, but some of these vintage machines can either go into their old-world glory, or take them to the future with carbon fiber and such. Some of the aerodynamic cars of the past like maybe the Alfa Romeo T33/2 Daytona (like the car and its sound), the Ginetta G12 (or G14?), or even the "Ferrari-slayer," the Ford GT40.

But for our time? How about a street-tuned Dodge Viper that resembles the Oreca Viper with auxillary lights at the front? I think there was one featured in car magazines or something like that. I think it was called "King Snake" or something. But anyhow, I think that if you want to be able to tune street cars to resemble their racing counterparts, you can be able to get one-off body kits for your cars.

So, any more LM car ideas? And speaking of old cars with new-age technology, how about having a Trueno modified for racing, like the Trueno that raced JGTC back in 1999-ish? Come on, guys and gals! Be creative! Any more ideas?
 
I'm sure PD will have plenty of new ideas for race cars. Who knows? Maybe they can make the Escudo Pikes Peak to be lower and more racy, instead of an SUV with the heart of a GT1.

And if you must ask, here is my vote for "American car likely to get LM treatment:"

the Dodge Neon SRT-4

Surprised? This car in race trim can challenge the FTO and maybe Altezza LMs.

Any more ideas?

I guess as an update to this 2 1/2 month old topic is that there are many cars to be added to GT, including versions of open-top sportscars. I'm sure many of the classic cars from other GTs will be in this one with special LM versions. I'm sure many more cars will be included. Of them, maybe 10, 25, to maybe 30 percent of them will have either fictional or realistic LM racing mods. Anyone want to talk about what other cars might get the race car treatment?
 
Just FYI, the FTO LM Race Car has been here since GT1, in it's green Castrol Racing trim. It was a kick ass car then and it's my 4WD of choice in GT3. I look forward to it again in GT4.

I'd like to see the Escudo updated to match the one Monster Tajima used at the Race to the Sky in New Zealand recently - it looks longer and larger than the current Escudo PP.

Prodrive is just a racing team, they use Ferrari 550's, a LM version of one of those is a nice dream, but I don't think we have a Ferrari license to play with. Keyword: think.

The Holden Monaro would be a great start for Holden in the GT series, I'd much rather see it than another V8 Supercar. It's competed with real GT cars at the Bathurst 24 Hour twice now and come out on top, so that'd be pretty sweet. Speaking of Bathurst, how about that Mosler everyone talks about?

The Audi Quattro would make for a good touring car addition.

A Gulf McLaren F1 GTR would look beautiful but I'll be so thankful just to have a McLaren at all that I won't care about the colour scheme.

Is the Bugatti EB110 appearing? That'd make for a good LM car, and god, give us the Bentley Speed 8, please! I hate Bentley for completing their 3 year win Le Mans plan and pulling out just as fast.

BMW V12 LMR prototype, we need some open cockpit cars to race that Pescarolo machine.

I'd like to see a GTO LM Edition return, just like my golden gem from GT1. A LM trim Mitsubishi Eclipse too maybe?
 
I would like to see a mosler MT900R or or a morgan aero 8. I would also like to see a racing version of the new GT40. I reckon a mustang could make a good LM car too.
 
bmw m1 procar is a good idea i think that pd could get the lisence as there is that pic of the new M5 at that beach track

FYI: The FTO LM in GT1 came in two colours, green and black. ;)

FYI 2: The monaro 427 in race trim put out more like 700hp and had independant rear suspension, and an LSD. The V8 Supercars have 650hp(ish), live axle, and no rear differential action. The Monaro was whoopingly fast, and they announced a road version with 500hp. I think they pulled the plug on the road version when homologation was avoided for the race car.

In GT4 i'd love to see some old rally cars. The alpine a110 is already in which is great, but there are other cool cars like the saab 96, lancia stratos, chevette, renault r8 gordini, hillman imp (or davrian), and the abarth 1000TCR. They were all very famous rally cars, so they earn a spot in gt4. ;)

For lemans cars, hmmmm. I'd love to see the chapparal 2F, ferrari p4 (sexiest car ever), and we all know the legendary gt40 will be in. :D

Oh, i'd really really love to see some CanAm cars!! The mclaren m20 (with the 9L engine and 1000hp), chapparal 2J, Porsche 917-30 (1400hp), and the shadow DN4 (or AVS Shadow mk1). All brilliant cars with hilarious acceleration and top speeds. The AVS mk1 was good for 250mph, and its tiny front tyres were good for 300mph according to firestone!

Oh, CanAm is HOT... i want i want!
 
Never heard of the ZF prototype or the MCR GT1. I first thought the MCR-GT1 was a wannabe Toyota GT-One. But interesting. Question is, will little-known race cars actually be recognized by car enthusiasts?

And by the way, if I recall correctly, the BMW M1 has more than 1,000 hp.

Key phrase, car enthusiasts. Yes they would or should, even if they arn't they will look them up on the net or something. I'd never heared of Tommy Kaira until GT2 but it didn't stop me liking them, it got me to know them and I would welcome any rare cars and manufacturers in GT4. If I don't know them at first I will know them soon after GT is great at educating people on cars that way (GT2 was best at it).

And yes the M1 racec car had over 1000Bhp.

The MCR GT-1 is an evolution of the MCR open prototype, very famous here in Brazil. It's still is on development, but it's very powerful.

The ZF prototype is kinda of a brother of the Riley & Scott, but built in Brazil by Zeca Giafonne (that's why it's called ZF). It's fast ( A C5-R engine on it ) but after two endurance races, it did not finished due to gearbox problems.
 
Well if you want race cars that look beautiful but never won anything, the Audi R8C from 1999 is a nice start. And no offense to the four rings of Audi, but I think for a special model in GT2, there should have been that car in the game. But then, I don't know if Gran Turismo 2 came before or after Le Mans 1999. And just think what Gran Turismo 3 would have been like with more cars. The R8C would have been a nice car to race. It could compete with the bigtime prototypes in GT3, even if the real version of the R8C failed to (it placed worst than 30th at Le Mans 1999, if I recall correctly).

I guess if you want affordable sportscars, I say look at the prototype race cars run in the Valvoline Runoffs. You know, Spec Ford Racer, C Sports Racer, Sports 2000, all those. Maybe even some Formula 500s.
