The OEM Wheels on the "wrong" car thread (Read OP)

It’s actually the right car. It’s all kinds of lovely.

986 Boxster on 987 Cayman 5 spokes (I think this is a good look)

986 Boxster on 987 "Lobster Claws" (I think the Lobster claws are too tall for the 986 arches)

986 Boxster on 964 (base) wheels: (I think this might be photoshopped, but I don't mind it at all, particularly on this darker red)

986 Boxster on 924 (?) wheels (too small really, but kinda neat for a winter tire setup)

Pretty sure D90s were only ever available as a 16" no matter what car, but certainly never larger than a 16". I don't know Boxsters well enough to say for sure that they look bigger than 16" on there but they look like they're too big to be real.

I think you are right, they appear to be scaled to 17". That being said, some Boxsters also came on 16" wheels, so it's theoretically possible. I really miss this more opaque style of wheel that was popular in the 80s and 90s.

You can also get 17" D90s-ish from Augment now.

I think the Lobster Claws are like C5 Wagon Wheels where they shouldn't be afflicted upon anything remotely related to their original car.

Meaning the probably only look dine on old Jettas or something.

The phone dials on the black car for the winter setup appear to be what a 16" looks like on a 986. It benefits from a more "open" wheel like the phone dials, where the D90s are too solid around the lugs.
