Hello and welcome to the Official GTPlanet Drift Competition! Since this is a brand new idea in GTPlanet, the rules are going to be sloppy, but we are trying to work our way through it. The rules for the drift competition is going to be different depending on the division. In each division, there will be different drivetrains to compete with. Depending on what drivetrain you are using, then you are going to be in that ladder. Here are the divisions:

Racing: This division will focus on how fast the competitor tackles the corners. Depending on the race, the competitor can use any settings they want. Any tires can be used in this division, but of course your objective is speed drifting ;) Any car will be used. if the competitor hits the wall or goes into the dirt, they will be docked off points

Professional: 4 or more consecutive corners
--> lifestream

Amateur: 1-3 consecutive corners
--> mike2cool
--> vinkento
--> LanEvo
--> GTRV

Here's what the competitor will be judged on:
--> Speed [10 points]
--> Control in drift [5 points]
--> How smooth the drift is [5 points]

REMEMBER:
People who are in the racing division, in the entry that you submit, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE include the speedometer in the replay.

Exhibition: This divison will focus on how much angle the car is in the corner. Speed does not matter in this division. The competitor can use any settings they want. Any car can be used. If the competitor runs into the dirt or crashes into a wall, they will be docked off points.

Professional: 4 or more consecutive corners
Front Engine, Front Drive:
Front Engine, Rear Drive:
--> LanEvo
--> Thio
--> Sheron
--> DrifterYanez
--> bustwave.
--> vinkento
--> CudaMan

Amateur: 1-3 consecutive corners
--> SPiDEY
--> LanEvo
--> DrifterYanez
--> Maky
--> graveltrap
--> JiF
--> ethikz
--> GTRV

Here's what the competitor will be judged on:
--> How much angle the car has [10 points]
--> Smoke [5 points]
--> Control [5 points]
--> Style [2 points]

Please read!
Under those drivetrains will be the names of competitors. If you want to compete, then send either LanEvo or Thio [me] a PM about what division and drivetrain you want to compete in with a picture or video of your drift. Make sure the picture or video is small enough for 56k'ers do download and watch :) We will replay as soon as possible.

Rules:
1. If you use any kind of device to manipulate the car's settings [GameShark] you are automatically disqualified.
2. If you are going to use a song in your video, make sure that the song is okay for the general public [no swearing, no provocative language]
3. Have Fun! :D

Judges:

-=Thio=-
AIM: dn12tennis
MSN: Thio
Yahoo: dn12tennis
ICQ: 174119878

We are accepting registrations either in here or through Private Messaging. We need more judges, so feel free to judge! If you want to judge, PM either me or LanEvo about it :)

Good luck! Have fun on the track!

Note: This post is going to be edited once the members are going to start this off on the right foot

FOR THE PARTICIPANTS:
Make sure that your entry has the lap time in it. If it doesn't, it'll make the judges think that you manipulated the game in a way. Please, for the sake of fairness. If you are in the racing division, also include the speedometer.

Also: You can register in here or you can either PM me or LanEvo. You just have to provide the divison and in what drivetrain you want to be in and also post a picture in your post.

The first competion will start on June 9th, 2003. Have fun!

I think I'll ask the obvious question, will there be any specific courses we should drift on or is any track game for the competition? ( I love my SSR5 ^_^ )

give us your best! your best drift from your best track. what you want the judges to see, and be compared against others with...that's what we'll be judging. we just need a picture of your drift for your registration.

I'd love to lay the smack down on you guys but I have no cam.

A thought though: won't the "smoke" portion of the scoring favor higher-powered cars heavily?

BAH!!!!!!!!! I am really pissed off now, I wish I had a digi cam, or was able to upload my saves into my comp.

This is a great idea, I only wish I could join, I look forward to this comp.

No, not really. It depends on how much wheelspin the car can get, that's all. A 300-hp Trueno can get the same amount of smoke as a 575-hp Skyline.

edit: changed reply.

vinkento

I'm sorry to ask you so late, but can you please tell me what division you want to compete in, the car you are going to use, and drivetrain you want to use? Thank you. If you are going to participate in the racing drift division, please put the speedometer in the replay. Thank you.

I'll help you out on keeping the place top side, but give me 2 more days till I figure out which car, drivetrain, and division I'll be racing in.

on exhibition professional, when u say -

Professional: 4 or more corners
Front Engine, Front Drive:
Front Engine, Rear Drive:
--> LanEvo, Nissan 300ZX Two Seater
--> Thio, Mazda RX-7 RZ
Middle Engine, Rear Drive:
Four Wheel Drive:
--> Thio, Tommykaira ZZII

does that mean we can only use the 300zx and the RZ, or anycar, im just a bit confused thats all.

No, those are the entries in the drift competitions so far. It's only LanEvo, vinkento and I :( If you want to compete, you have to PM either LanEvo or I and then say which division you want to be in, racing or exhibition, and depending on your skill, drift professionally or amateurly(sp) and then just tell us what car you are using. Then, on June 9th, the results will come back and whoever has the highest points will be known :)

You can use any car you want.

Thio..Does it have to be video's? Aww forget it my PC sucks anyway..Lol....Aught to be cool though...Do the fans of this Message board get to vote or have the judges already been decided?

It doesn't have to be videos. It can be a series of pictures to make a slideshow, like what I did. The judges will decide the points and whoever has the highest points will be named the best drifter in that category.

Who's the judges and are they already decided? if not..How can someone go about applying to "judgery" so to speak..That's a coo word..Judgery..I'ma use that from now on.

i couldnt be bothered entering. there will be tons of people to compete with

Well, there has to be a way to prove your drifting skills. Anyone can just say that they are the master drifter in GT3 and there's no way to prove it. If there is a way that you can prove your drifting skills in this forum with perhaps a picture of your drift or a short video and your knowledge of drifting, then you are elegible to be a judge. You just have to either PM LanEvo or me about it and then we'll discuss it. That's all.

i cant get my pictures or vid on the comp
without gameshark or digital cam

I'm going to end up just using a crappy $15 web cam. One question, say we want to throw something spectacular in, like a twin drift or a 10x spinout. Will anything like that be counted towards or against the points?

If I was judging, it would depend. Spinouts mean that you lost control at some point during the drift, and there you will be docked off points, but if you do a twin drift, that would be under a different category and it won't count towards the points.

If there were enough people who could do twin drifts, then we can have a separate division for that, but it's only Night Drifter and Akina86
