The Official Gran Turismo Helmet mistake!

As we know, this is the helmet that Yamauchi was using at the 2009 and 2010 Nurburgring. As of the 2012 edition, I believe the back has changed slightly. New DLC anyone?

however, my question with this helmet is this. Why is there a "reflection of office" at the back on the chrome section as pointed out originally by Scuderia Paul? Is this some sort of mistake, or an intentional Easter Egg? It sure doesn't look like any part of the PD office from what I can see, even if the color scheme matches.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=136312&page=139

And looking more closely, it seems like there is a reflection of a photographer (?) in the middle part. Maybe he was taking a picture of the helmet in some unseen part of the PD office, and unintentionally got himself "taken" into the model. Compare to the original helmet as seen here:

http://www.crushdrive.com/watch/kazunori-yamauchi-at-nuerburgring-24h-race-2010/654608

At 0.06, one can notice clearly that the chrome checks were supposed to be reflective with no motif in them.

If this is indeed a mistake, I should think PD try to correct it given their legendary attention to detail. So someone twitter Kaz about this please?

I think this is an Easter egg. They found it funny and say "hey why not put the reflection of you in the back so you can be immortalized in the game?". We have a cat (Jenkins), a dog , Nessie and a monkey.

those are intentional, but this one just seems like an oversight. and what more it's paid dlc. kind of a careless thing, no?

Most likely the helmet was shot by a photographer at the PD office, which would explain it. If this bothers you that much I think you might need a drink or something..

It's paid content, and this kind of amateurish mistake?

I can't think of any situation, other than a very focused photo in the photo mode option, where someone would notice this.

You are welcome Katnlz! You should look at the map to the right of the arch at Ahrweiler Gate in Photo Travel for more reflections which contains PD employees I assume. In fact I discovered these around the same time.

It isn't much of one. It isn't really worth note, and 99.9% of players would never have noticed it. A handful are aware of it because one of the 0.1% took a photo and pointed it out to some other folks. It's really trivial.

Wow, are you guys thinking that this is a mistake? Just ROFL.

Wow, are you thinking it was intentional?

Actually, it's kind of obvious when using the in-car cam during replays or Bspec races. the dark spots and "discolored" chrome is clearly seen, even from the side. to add, the chrome in the helmet isn't actually reflective in the game itself, it just gives the illusion of being chrome if anyone can catch my drift.

you can choose to think that this is nitpicking, or in Foxiol's case dismiss my concerns immediately. what I'm saying is, this is a paid DLC. I wouldn't mind if the chrome isn't actual chrome as in the car paints (which actually reflect their surrounding), a replica of Kaz's helmet is fine. but mistakes like these which IMO shows a lack of attention should be highlighted as to be corrected.

Isn't it just like the die-cast GTR mistake, which nobody would have caught but for the 0.01%? Kaz himself appreciated the heads up, and was frankly embarassed by the apathy of the staff concerned probably.

Just when I thought I'd seen and heard it all , someone comes along and raises the bar a little more.

Yes PD should correct this appaling lack of attention to detail. I will no longer be able to focus on anything else in the game until this is rectified. I can't believe this was overlooked. [/sarcasm] < just so there's no doubt.......

I've never heard of that. What happened? :dunce:

As I said, I'm just pointing this mistake out. be it a miniscule error or a game-breaking bug, it's STILL a mistake no?

honestly, I can't comprehend the mentality of GT5 apologists. Who's to say what should be corrected and what isn't important? All I know is this game is far from perfect, and that any feedback is important to help PD get it right either through patches or the next iteration of the game.

"The Real Driving Simulator". Isn't that what it's about? Simulation, hence the need for immersion by players playing their roles? And details DO matter even if it's only seen 1% of the time.

Thats a great Easter Egg. Would have been good if they'd done something silly with it.

This from the OP made me laugh

I wouldn't mind if it was a legit Easter egg in fact, some confirmation from PD?

and the twitter thing, haha! I have no idea how to contact PD, read somewhere about Kaz responding to mistakes put forward from his twitter or something. whatever gets the job done mate *grasps at straws* :sly:

This is the reason why some people dont have a sense of humour or don't realise sarcastic speech or scenaro's were puns were intended 👍

Flip over one of the standard GTRs and you see the underside of a die cast model, complete with screw heads.

This is a mistake to some people!? Why would they code it to look like a model accidentally? I really hope people realise that it was a joke...

I wouldn't consider myself a "GT apologist" , just a gamer that's after an enjoyable driving experience. Okay so technically this is a mistake but how important is it ? If it doesn't affect the driving experience , then it may as well be an unrealistic looking branch on a tree trackside. (hope I didn't just open a can of worms with that suggestion....sigh)

If you are going to disect every aspect of this game with a fine toothed comb , I'm sure you'll find many more things at this level. Wouldn't you agree that there are much bigger problems than this ? Does something this minor actually warrant discussion ?

I guess I am constantly amazed at the time people put into complaining about things these days......especially something as trivial as this. (IMO)

ITS A GAME !

So who decides what's minor and what's not? What's worth discussing?

If this aspect of the game is that trivial, why are people paying actual cash for Racing Gear Packs? Why does Polyphony Digital even have that much racing gear in the game in the first place? It's clear that some enjoy this aspect of the game, it adds to the overall experience.

I'm not saying it's the most important flaw or something, I'm just bringing this to attention. It's a minor error sure, but an error is an error. I would understand if it was the limitations of the game like the trees or something, but the helmet is clearly the mistake of some amateur modeler. And that can be corrected.

God help us if Polyphony Digital starts deciding that these sort of things are too minor to be corrected. So what if you have an extra hubcap on your Mustang, it doesn't affect the driving experience. See what I mean?
