I am currently having a problem that is fairly common amongst people who modify vehicles, and that is that my imagination is struggling to fully process what something I am thinking of doing will look like..

I see a lot of talented people who use Photoshop in the Photo competitions on GTP, and thought I'd go ahead and start a thread where people can ask these talented people for something to be done via Photoshop to see what it looks like before biting the bullet and going for it..

This could be something like removing a spoiler, to fitting a lip, or changing your wheels.

In my case, I already have the wheels it's just I'm thinking of a change in colour. I have these:

But I am thinking of giving them this treatment:

Anyone care to give it a go on Photoshop to see what it'll look like? Up for grabs is Internet respect lol.

The reason I am thinking if it is because I think the satin black just looks so damn aggressive...

I'm not very talented with PS, used to be decent a few years ago but right now I don't even have the program.
What I do have is a request :sly:

I'd lke to see how that would look like without headlight and only the fogs/indicators
Also, punknoodle, have you considered painting only the inside and leaving the outside polished? I think it looks good that way like here:

Pah, just say goodbye to your calipers, brakes and that useless stuff:

You know you want it.

I have considered it yeah, actually I was considering it when I ordered my wheels as you can order them with a black centre, but I don't think 17s are big enough to pull it off, it makes the centre look really small doing that

EDIT: Haha Cano that second picture had me in stitches! Cheers bud 👍

So the black definitely looks more aggressive..

Haha it would be pretty mad to see a Celica getting around with one that's for sure!

Punk the chrome looks sexy it gives your car character bro in my opinion. I'm surprised I like it I usually hate chrome for some reason.

You have a dark red car.

Keep the chrome. If it was an eyeburning color or white, black wheels would work well but... Any form of dark red just pops so much more with a little bit of chrome.

Yeah a friend of mine called me a fool for even contemplating it lol. But I still maintain that while it not be as pretty, it looks right business. Don't get me wrong I love the colour combination of mine as it is, just sometimes I fear it's too soft, lacks attitude.

I'd say the current look has way more attitude than flat black. Flat black gets boring pretty fast and it's sometimes associated with people who half-assed their wheel painting. I do like flat black on some applications, but yours looks really nice as is, all I'd maybe consider is painting the centers grey or flat white

I agree, I like the black better. The chrome isn't really my cup of tea, it would be better if the wheel design were more elegant, IMHO. The black, however, looks very awesome, and has a great attitude.

EDIT: Okay, I lied, I do like the chrome rims, I just needed to see them from different angles (in the thread about the Celica). So now I'm not sure which I like better.

Hmm... I think it fits the car, there's not enough going on with it to pull off more aggressive looks really, it just doesn't fit with the lines and color IMO.

There is also always the possibility to change styles you know. Like, for example, this is all the rage today!!!!

Someone is having fun...

...and someone is laughing

Yeah, some good suggestions. I guess the other thing I've gotta consider is that these are pretty expensive rims and I'd feel a little dead inside if I painted them and I wasn't completely in love with the result..

Maybe one day when I have a bigger garage I'll buy a set of RPF1s and paint them flat black and put some semi slick rubber on them and swap them for track days. Then I'd get my black wheels fix

If I was you, I'd keep the wheels just the way they are. Every time I see them in black, it reminds me of the black steelies that you get when you take off your hubcaps. Which is really the least you want.

Chrome is so much more classy IMO.

Yeah. I think I'm gonna keep em Super Black Coat (which does look a little chrome I must admit  )

There are just so many options for the centre, Bronze, Gun Metal, not white though as I've seen this and it didn't do it for me. Body colour, Teal. Teal would look pretty knarly..

But yeah I don't think I'm gonna go painting these rims any time soon, the only reason I was thinking about it is because I've seen so many Work Meisters / SSR Professor SP1s done in black and I love the look. I do like the way they look now, but you know how it is, I've been looking at them for so long now and you just kind of get used to them and feel like mixing it up a bit, which I think is why 2 sets of rims is a good idea, like changing shoes for the occasion lol.

Thanks for the input though everyone 👍

With the black wheels it just looks sinister and badass. But maybe it's just me. I'm not a fan of "bling" which is usually the term I use to describe chrome.

It looks good either way, but for whatever it's worth, I think the chrome looks great on your car especially because of how nice the paint is. If it was mine I'd keep it that way.

I'll do that when I get home.

I think it will look a bit like a Miata. :p

Only a quick edit. ;) Got a bit carried away. Even removed a cigarette from the floor.

 at the cigarette.
That looks really nice IMO, it's probably illegal that way though.
Thanks 👍

You just fixed it.

My opinion is to not go completely black since your car's body colours is already very dark. Putting black on everything gets boring. It may be cool at first, but you'll grow out of it. While custom wheels are an accessory, it's not cheap. Therefore, I'd aim for a look that you'll like for a long time. That said, the chrome is hella tacky on a lot of Japanese cars.

I'd do the regular ol alloy finish, but a few shades lighter. Between 60% and 100% white.

Those are my wheels in the first picture, so I already have them, was just debating whether or not to paint them. My conclusion: No. I'll keep these ones in polished / super black coat (SSR's name for chrome, basically).

If I do get a second set of rims for track use I'll be going black, for sure.

I have two photoshop request...

I need two styles of DARK GREY stripes put on my car.

One picture with this style...

White_stripes_with_accent_on_blue_car.jpg

And one with this style... (The red elise)
