Here is the problem with duping. The value of cars obtained legitimately goes down the drain. If I grind and use my hard earned money to buy a car worth 2 mil, and then I want to trade it, I would pretty much get either scraps or the return asked of me would be more damaging to me than a duper. When you dube, you don't necessariy ever lose a car, because you have copies. On the trade block, who would you deal with, a guy who has a duped car which you can pick up for a lot less or a guy who has a legitimate car who is looking for "fair return." Its basically deflation in value, sort of like the Wal-Mart effect. Small businesses now can't compete because large businesses like Wal-Mart come in and offer uber cheap products that are similar in value to what the small business was selling.
Well maybe it's just me but if I where to trade a car I would not care if it was duped or earned by hours of grinding. That is pointless to me as the value should be the car itself and not the work put down on earning it. If that is what your looking for then the car might aswell be a Fiat 500, only it costs 20.000 000 cr.
And I wouldn't blame someone for duping a car, not everyone has the time/energy to put as much grinding that is needed to buy some cars in this game. As the franchise gets more popular, this is what you get in return.
I think the point was that the goal of "ownership" of vehicles was a long term one. It'd give people a reason to play for years
I would trade something with equal value to whoever is trading. Even though someone has duped a 100 enzo's I still believe he will demand something equal in credit value. Would I have known that he has hundreds of Enzo's already then of course I wouldn't be bothered.
Sure, that makes sense, but I don't see anything in GT5 that promises me years of fun to keep playing. Grinding GT5 for years... Seriously? Is that the proposition? Well, then it's official: PD is completely out of touch with Western gaming culture.
Honestly, between the online play, updated online special events, and track creator (and excluding any potential track expansions/updates) there's way more longevity here than any of the previous GT titles, and I happily played those for years.
If you're focusing on playing being equal to grinding, it'll never be fun though. I play lots of one-make races (in practice) that don't pay out anything, and they can be challenging (and fun) as hell.

No, but for me the fun is offline. I really hate going online and dealing with all the **** and the idiots and general antisocial behavior going on. Not just GT5... Any game I prefer to enjoy offline.
So, yeah... Practice mode perhaps, but without any credit payout, what good is that really?
All those people who were duping and trading like mad from the day you could, already have completed most of their rare and expensive car garage.
All those people who took it a bit easier and played the game more instead of duping now have to pay the price.
I think the patch was too little too late. It should have been like this day 1 or not at all.
But you see, this patch did nothing to affect duplication of cars and sending them to your own PS3. You just can't send them to other PS3's now. 20,000,000 X1's still get sent to sub-accounts with no problems.
This is sort of the strange part. Yes, I know that there are millions of people without internet access, but I highly doubt that racing/driving games in this day and age, is conceptualized without live people being the competition. The current A-spec and B-spec are nothing but an homage to yesteryears. GT's future lies with me racing against you, not the AI. Practice is for me to get my car ready, to race you.
At the end of the day, I think it's the only option they had. The only people moaning are the people duplicating cars, cos now they have to actually earn them, so it don't bother me. I'm actually happy they done it, like I said, it's the only thing they could do.
I'm sorry, but I am not interested in playing against human players. Any game without a decent single player campaign will not get my money.
I see more than enough people in my dayjob to not be interested in dealing with the general internet populace in my scarce game time. The signal to noise ratio online is so pathetic that it's not worth my time and energy.
If I were interested in dealing with 13 year olds with mics I would have bought an xbox with a Live subscription.
