I'm not a huge fan of Hip Hop, though there are some rappers I like. I love listening to Mos Def and Talib Kwali. They don't rap about stupid crap like dubs and 40s, they rap about important stuff. :)

No you are wrong. Dont tell me the name of my favorite rap group. Its actually 3 6 Mafia, Triple Six Mafia or Three Six Mafia, why dont you look on some of their cd covers before you start telling me what their name is.

From 3 6 Mafia's cd When the Smoke Clears, track 14 Three 6 Mafia f/ Goodie Mob

[Juicy J] (Big Gipp)
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Three 6 Mafia (Here it is)
Know what I'm sayin'
Goodie Mob (Triple Six Mafia)
ATL (Big Gipp)
M-town connection (Man)
What you know about that?
(You can't ask fo' no mo')
What you know? What you know?
(I'ma hit ya back)
What you know?

Now why would Juicy J say Triple Six Mafia if the name of the group was Three 6 Mafia? Because Three and Triple MEAN THE SAME THING, duh.

Signal: If the rap artists I listed are Gangsta Rap then why are their lyrics on www.ohhla.com (Official HIP-HOP Lyrics Archive)?

I like mostly all east coast hip hop.

nice list...mostly.u forgot tupac(the best rapper ever),the neptunes arent rappers(its only pharrel),carl thomas and dave hollister arent hip hop, they suck.big tigger isnt really a hip hop artist,he's only been in one real song(he just freestyles a lot)

I've just really started listening to Hip-Hop and I quite like a lot of The Root's stuff. I want to get an album but I don't know which one to get. Any suggestions?

Phrenology, their latest album is unlike their last few releases... I own all of their albums, and my personal favorites are:

Things Fall Apart
Phrenology
Illadelph Half life

You've chosen a great group of artists to start off into hip hop. They operate with a live band, and instead of a DJ, Rahzel beatboxes over the microphone.

Nice. I neva knew that.
My favourite song of theirs at the mo is The Clones from Illadelph Half Life. But I'm getting more. Though all their albums seem to be really expensive over here like, £15 - £20. Maybe it's just my local stores. BTW an average album over here costs like £11, it's not much of a differance, but it's enough to put me off for the time being.

1.) I hate Tupac
2.) I was listing urban music, so Carl Thomas and David Hollister can be in there if I want them to.
3.) I like Neptunes work, they don't need to be rappers
4.) Big Tigger doesn't need his own records or songs to be a rapper

Also, I forgot to Mention Poster Boy...

I agree. Thanks for clearing that up. I saw a lot of names that I didn't really think was true hip-hop, rather, they were urban/gangsta rap. I think people need to know how to differentiate between true hip-hop and urban rap. I personally believe that true hip-hop has a LARGE focus on lyrics as opposed to urban. Someone, please make this clearer. Please.

Anything by Ghost C, even though most of his work is gangsta rap and not hip hop. Hoho, I love talking about myself in third person.

btw, I don't actually have anything recorded, just freestyles and stuff on paper. Maybe one day I'll get bored and show you guys some skills :).

And on another note, some of Nelly's stuff is ok, and Cam'ron has done some good stuff, other than that I don't listen to all that much hip hop.
