Anybody know why it is that when I'm half way round the first lap it says I'm 30 seconds behind the leader but when I get to the line at the end of lap 1 it suddenly jumps up to 42 seconds behind?

I think the first set of numbers is your split lap time, not the time from leader?

Finally managed to Gold this after 20+ attempts... usually as a result of me exiting the track due to errors of my own making. :grumpy: Used the premium Spirit RX7 and tuned to 389bhp and used virtually all methods of reducing the weight..

SRF was an absolute must for me, although all other aids switched off, then tweaked the settings to reduce the oversteer as much as possible including the car's own rear spoiler on it's maximum of 8.

Finally managed a race where I fully concentrated on keeping the car on the circuit and tried to overtake as smoothly as possible... as has been suggested before, the leading GTR has problems getting past the backmarkers and he got baulked badly when trying to lap a 2nd backmarker... I overtook both on the hairpin on the last lap.

Was considering upgrading the aero before I finally nailed it

It's not, you just need to nail every corner of every lap to make it. In the end I was 2,5 seconds ahead of the Skyline.

Great Job, I was just over 2 seconds ahead at the finish with SFR off. I was driving at near perfection with 59.9-60.5 second laps. I got in first at the start of the 9th and then all of a sudden my cat jumped on my lap and keep trying to get me to pet him. Fortunately, once the Skyline is behind you it's a cake walk, he's not too aggressive about passing. I think my last lap was 64 seconds, way off pace.

I can get 2nd, but nowhere near 1st. Will give it another shot later. Sucks these events go away, they're enjoyable but dont have time to go through them all.

I agree, they should stay around for 3-6 months at least. I feel rushed with this second set. I would prefer to have the time to figure out my own tunes, driving line and such instead of relying on youtube replays and posted tunes in order to accomplish all the events in time. I think there would be more of a sense of accomplishment.

Does anyone here got into a situation where you simply use the best available tyres (no other tuning) then you drive the best you can and got 2nd (while the 1st car pulls a 20sec gap on you)

At least to me, I got 2nd for the first 3 seasonal events (that ends tonight at 6 Jan). I just use the best tyres and didn't spend a penny on tuning...

But for the GT-R event on SS-5, I did full tune my R35 and got 1million by winning that~

I struggled with this event yesterday, looked at different setups and whatnot. I see some people mentioning a 394 bhp limit and a 800 kg limit, but I don't have that. Have they changed this?

So with that in mind I took it a bit further today then the setups posted in the beginning of this thread:

- Stage 2 Chassis Window Weight Reduction
- Window Weight Reduction
--> 1107 kg

Full Aerodynamics (0/10)

- Sports ECU, Stage 2 Engine Tuning
- Sports Intake Manifold, Racing Air Filter
- Sports Exhaust Manifold, Catalytic Converter Sports, Titanium Semi Racing Exhaust
- Mid RPM Range Turbo Kit
--> 509 BHP/7000 rpm, 62 kgfm/5200 rpm

- Stock transmission parts

- Twin-Plate Clutch, Semi-Racing Flywheel

Fully Customizable Suspension Kit:
- Ride height -20/-10
- Spring rate 12/8
- Dampers (ext) 8/3
- Dampers (comp) 8/3
- Anti-Roll Bars 4/4
- Camber Angle -1.8/-2.5
- Toe Angle -0.23/-0.12

Brakes 8/7

- Medium Racing Tyres

(I highlighted the important bits ;))

Probably not the best suspension setup, but it did the job. Absolutely owned the competition on the first try, did lap times of 56/57 no sweat. Overtook the GTR on the 7th lap, and even had time to spin out in the gravel once :P I know I should probably be doing faster lap times than that with this setup, but I can't be bothered right now :P

You've written a great deal about your efforts on these challenges and that's really good to hear your experience, plus some of us have tried to be as helpful as possible and gone to some lengths to aid you in your quest to do these challenges without SRF.

You also made mention that people who beat others over the head about using SRF are behaving in an inappropriate manner, which I agree with 👍

However, statements like the above do not apply to everyone. I tried many hours to complete all challenges in the seasonals without the use of SRF and it never once stopped being enjoyable, and was immensely satisfying when accomplished.

Please do not make sweeping statements like that to influence how members should play the game, and assume that because you didn't find it enjoyable that nobody else would either. Please try to stick to the philosophy that everyone should be allowed to play the game as they see fit, as I know you subscribe to this as well.

Thank you for your consideration 👍

All the best
Maz

Ultimately my point was that there is no shame in using aids. A small minority of very determined and skilled drivers will complete GT5 without them- and serious congrats to them. With that said many of these challenges will become hopelessly frustrating to the majority. I suspect there are many whom have read through this thread and simply given up on the idea of getting gold. I also believe that bonus races #3 and #4 were made easier because of the relative difficulty of #2.
