well ladies and gents, it is not long until the many will gather at the muddy, squelchy and rainy (well, usually) BRITISH GP. Lewis hamilton currently leads the championship by 14 points with Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa not far behind. Kimi Raikkonen will be confident after his recent win at Magny Cours.
BMW have the leading constructors in their sights as they attempt to increase momentum in their aim of catching Ferrari and mclaren. It should prove to be a very interesting weekend.

Your Thoughts?

and someone tell me how many mistakes I made :p

I think that Honda are back, and should be strong At Silverstone.
Also i can see the BMW's getting on podium.

I think Mclaren will dominate, and i am not sure what ferrari will do.

I think this will be very interesting race. Ferrari will come in riding hugh off last weeks win and Mclaren will be looking to get back on top. I'm going to pick Ferrari take the two top spots again this weekend.

Darn, it's only Monday. I was hoping it was Thursday already, since it's a holiday.

I think, given the evidence of the past few weeks, that it's going to rain - probably a lot - which'll spice things up a bit. Too close to call between the Scarlet and the Silver for me.

I sure hope so, 'cause Monaco and Magny Cours left me disappointed.

edit: At least the Supercup race was in the wet.

I hope and think that Hamilton has a chance to impress his home crowd come weekend, but the challenge is going to be huge from Ferrari judging from their recent test at the circuit, and of course their performance in France.
I'd hope Kimi can keep the momentum from France and I hope Alonso can finally have some good luck!

My....biased and stupidly early prediction:

1st. Kimi
2nd. Alonso
3rd. Hamilton
4th. Massa
etc
etc

I hope it does rain.

Never mind the racing, who will win when Ron Dennis and Jean Todt go toe to toe in the pit lane?

It's gonna rain. FACT.

And if Wimbledon is anything to go by it'll be short and heavy spells lasting about 10 minutes each.

Who do you think is the best in the rain?

I have to admit that I stopped watching F1 several years ago (when Senna died) and just started again last season. I don't know how well most the these drivers do in the rain.

Well Button proved himself in the wet last year in Hungary, but I don't know how Hamilton's tail-out style will work in the wet. Not very well I imagine :ouch:

Not really, Button only started to make headway when the track went from mildly wet to dry.

I'd say Kimi and Alonso are neck and neck when it comes to rain, Hamilton might be there aswell who knows.

Massa on the other hand was absolutely rubbish last year in the wet, I doubt he will be any better this year.

It's probably a style he's always had and he's almost certainly raced in the wet or at least practiced in it. Lewis has a tendancy of putting queries to bed.

I agree that there will be some rain at some point over the weekend.
Based on Northampton

Sunday looks a shocker, Saturday looks dryish.

Dunno if Lewis has driven an F1 car in the wet yet though.. if he hasn't, I hope his first effort isn't on Sunday :scared:

His tail happy style will probably actually make him very good in the wet. Both Schumacher (:yuck: ) and Alesi preferred to hang the tail out a bit and both excelled in the wet. Perhaps these drivers like that slightly loose feeling as it tells them when they are at the limit, and so they are more comfortable feeling their way to the grip limit on a wet track than someone who drives more by numbers?

Just a theory..

My feeling is Ferrari will be strong, though McLaren may be just as strong. But chances are it'll be a Ferrari on pole (I'm betting Massa) with Hamilton behind followed by Alonso and Raikkonen.
As for the race itself it will be close between the all 4 front runners and only strategy will make the difference. Still I think it can go either way. If it plays out well we could be looking at a real battle. I'd like Hamilton to win but I hope on the day the best driver does.
As for rain..very possible. But I hope not.

Button really isn't that good in the rain. Do consider the fact that Bridgestone's last year in the wet were much crappier than Michelins, and that both Alonso and Raikkonen were out of the race and that's how Button won.

As for who is the best in the wet, I personally think Alonso is the best in the wet from the current F1 field, and while saying that, I'd like to mention I'm a Kimi fan first and foremost and the only other guy I support in F1 is Alex Wurz.

Last year Alonso won the British GP from pole and had the fastest lap. If that's anything to go by and predictions that there'll be rain, here's my early predictions:

1. Alonso
2. Raikkonen
3. Heidfeld

I've got no idea how good Hamilton is in the rain, I don't remember how well he fared in GP2 races in the wet last year (if there even were any with rain, I don't remember), so I'm going to assume he is most likely not as good as the Kimster or Alonso. Kimi proved himself good in the wet at Spa '04 and Suzuka '05, and Alonso at Hungary '03 and Hungary '06 so I'm gonna go for Alonso this time.

I'll be there! (Covered in a seperate thread closer to the occasion) So I'm hoping it wont rain but hey, if it shake things up a bit, I'm sure that will make up for it. :)

As for my bet? God knows.

Rain always makes a good race at Silverstone.
I think it was 2002 when it rained it was a hell of the race, but that was based on the michelin runners not having a competitive inter.
But still i think rain would sort the men form the boys.

Prediction (If rain):
1.Kimi
2.Heidfeld
3.Hamilton
4.Alonso
5. Massa
In an ideal world, Button to score top 6 and Hamilton to Win.

One of the Monaco practice sessions was in the wet, so he's driven an F1 car in the rain before. That was the practice session that Adrian Sutil set the fastest time in. (No, really - I'm not kidding :))

In an ideal world, Button to score top 6 and Hamilton to Win.

In an ideal world, the results would look something like this:

1st Hamilton
2nd Button
3rd Coulthard
4th Davidson

... well, it could happen. Possibly.

If Massa takes pole (which I'm guessing is likely):

1) Massa
2) Kimi
3) Hamilton
4) Alonso

If Kimi takes pole:

1) Kimi
2) Hamilton
3) Alonso
4) Massa

But does he know how to drive in a molten lava pit full of Thwomps and Koopa shells?

But does he know how to drive in a molten lava pit full of Thwomps and Koopa shells?

Who knows

Anyways,my prediction is its going to be a dogfight between Ferrari and McLaren.I'm guessing it will be either Hamilton vs Massa or Alonso vs Kimi (or whichever way it is.....but most importantly its a battle between Ferrari and McLaren or maybe between the teammates).Hamilton and Massa could be going light for Q3 (if it doesn't rain) while Alonso and Kimi will have a heavier car.

The race could be quite unpredictable, but if these conditions happen it could be one exciting race....be aware of those BMW's.They could spring a surprise during the grand prix weekend. But i'm not sure if Honda could perform as well as the Super Aguri's.If its rains, then yes Honda could salvage some points.

Latest forecast for the Silverstone region is sun and light showers for Sat & Sun.

I live 10 minutes away from the track, looks overcast eith sunny spells atm.
